Or the biggest robbery since Dempsey won all of the player of the year awards instead of a joint Paynter/Dicker victory.
And the biggest robbery until Messi wins this years Ballon D'or award.

Laughable as in too big or laughable as in peasants wages?

Maybe I live in a different world to you, but to me those wages aren't big. They are way more than they deserve after last seasons performance, but they aren't big in the real world.

They're massive. Honestly, not taking the piss or owt but whoever's told you that is an absolute mug.

Really? I'm quite surprised. I obviously fell for it if someone was bullshitting me. They don't seem massive to me mind apart from Paynter's. I mean obviously they are massive in the respect that most of these individuals don't deserve a tenner a week, but in league 2 and 1 standards I thought they seemed quite normal. I would have assumed Notts County players would be on these wages and more. No?

If our players are indeed on £500 a week, it makes me wonder what kind of poverty Accrington Stanley players must live in.

Supposedly Accrington's average wage is around £400 a week which is really quite small for a footballer. We've obviously got one of the bigger budgets in this league but I don't think the difference between the top 10 or so will be that big, apart from the big spenders like Portsmouth and Luton.

A squad of 20 with an average wage of £1k would cost you about £1m roughly, so you can kind of work it out from there. Generally budgets are less than some fans claim as well. Yeovil got promoted from League 1 with a wage bill of £875k.

People in general grossly overestimate players earnings, especially when they talk about releasing players and freeing up cash. That's without taking into account that certain players will have incentive heavy contracts and also players, as pretty much a standard, have relegation clauses in their contracts which result in wage drops, every Notts player did. Orient...maybe not, knowing how well they're ran.

Average wage for a league 2 player is 35 grand. So I guess it's plausible that the lower end of that is 20 ish.

This is the reason why some players stay part-time. I very much doubt its that low though. That's only £20,800pa.

Is that so hard to believe? There's a lot of "real" full-time jobs that pay less than that. And these will be players towards the very bottom end of their profession let's not forget.

I heard Mansfield paid Green mortgage off when he signed for us.

We had a "Meet the Chairman" event last week, was revealed we tried to sign Mark Roberts following his release from Fleetwood but couldn't get close to matching the offer on the table from Cambridge. Also spoke to Lawrie Wilson but he's after too much money for us.

I think it's a bit desperate from managers or chairmen when they reveal players they tried to sign but have since signed elsewhere.

We've re-signed Christian Ribeiro. Great result, dead chuffed.

In his defence it was an answer to a question from someone in attendance who specifically asked whether we'd considered signing Roberts.

Yep a key re-signing for us. I'd like him to play RB so that we can hopefully get a decent Centre Half to play alongside Moore-Taylor.

The squad is looking good, but still need another forward and tough tackling midfielder to make it a play off capable one.

I get the feeling we are ruffling a few feathers with our financial clout this summer.

You guys should be able to offer more money than us anyway really, you averaged around 2000 more than we did last season and had a very profitable cup run.

Is it only his wage he joined us for though? I'd imagine we're an intriguing prospect for players who want a "second shot" at League 2.

He's 31 and has had a career around the lower leagues. It is almost definitely only his wage he joined you for.

Notts have made an offer to a championship striker and have apparently agreed terms with two midfielders who will sign when they get back from holiday

banton and Milson?

I've got my Jabo the Hutt profile picture ready for the confirmation of his signing. It's staying even if we don't get him.

In the papers again today that Andre Gray is attracting interested from QPR, amongst others - expecting around £500,000 at least from our sell on, plus the £600,000 we received last summer.

Not bad for a player we signed for £30,000! Kerching!

Or he's seen the calibre of other players we seem to be signing and felt we had a decent chance of promotion? Players do have other motivational factors besides money....

At 31 when he'll only get maybe one or two more decent contracts and he's not exactly made enough money to retire, I would imagine the wage will be his main focus. Besides, he'll only be living there for a couple of years probably so it'd hardly kill him wherever he chose to live. Sure, he'll be happy if he's got a good team and moves somewhere nice but my guess would be if Stevenage offered more money he would've gone to them...

I really don't think they do for the most part. It's first and foremost a job for them and they aren't getting paid enough to not care about money.

I disagree. Have you seen the players we've signed so far? We will show him the list of players we're trying to sign so given that, with a great set up a long with plans for a new stadium being built with a pitch you can play football on, plus living in one of the nicest cities in the UK, I would say he would chose us all day long. Plus have you seen the state of Stevenage lol.
