Very surprised we got Wharton back, excellent player. He obviously liked it here and pushed to come back.

Says a lot for the Cowleys, the dressing room, the fans, the backroom staff, the local restaurants, the cleanliness of both the streets and the air here. Good choice Scott.

Don’t tell me the Flitcroft induced injury crisis has struck already? Is Preston one of those?

Nah nothing to do with him, Mirfin been out long term for a while, and Zander Diamond is also out long-term due to a back problem from last season.

That leaves Pearce and Preston who will probably be our pairing if we go 4 at the back, a youth product and Digby who is more of a midfielder.

That’s what ultimately did for us last season - we ran out of fit CBs.

We’re looking for 2 ourselves

It’s been our strongest department for a few years now, Bennett and Pearce were one of the best pairings at this level.

He needs to get this right because he might do three at the back, what did he do at Swindon?

Noticed Cameron broke down again.

Pretty traditional. 2 CBs and 2 full backs. We never had 3 fit CBs to try 3 at the back. Knowing Flitcroft he’ll think he’s some kind of footballing genius and play some weedy winger at CB. He does have a terrible record for multiple injuries on his watch.

Dean Cox to us being mentioned on Twitter after he tweeted one of our fans who said they hoped he’d sign. Even more oddly his Wiki page has been updated to say he’s signed for us: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Cox_(English_footballer)

Still sceptical but would be a good signing I think. Having said that I’m sure he’s always wanted to stay local to his roots? Plus he’s barely played of late so could be a risk if this was true?

Anybody can change what his Wiki page says though, then it gets changed back by the mods like it has now.

Dark in Forest's shadow I'll give you that

That’s always the problem, when you are based in a good sized , sporting city that can support two football league teams as well as other successful sporting teams.

You wouldn’t understand, your shadows have historically always been much further away and much much smaller.

But you do have a lovely and very impressive cathedral to make a weekend of it.

Yeah it’s now been erased.

Pretty sure it’s not him signing today. expect he will end up at Billericay or somewhere

It’s a different injury but yeah, I think he’s too risky for us considering we already have two defenders out.

Don’t look like we will be signing him currently but it might change.

How did he look playing for you guys? He’s as good a defender as you’ll get at L2 but his injuries unfortunately severely hold him back.

We’re close to agreeing a permanent deal for Derby’s Charles Vernam, on loan here for part of last season and looked quality in a poor side before getting injured, I’ll be delighted if it all goes through ok.

I suppose you are very much like Nottingham's answer to Shortwood, in the shadow of a more illustrious neighbour called Forest.

Michael Doughty next up for Swindon a couple more signings of his and Diagouraga's calibre in the CB and striker positions and we're way way better off than last season.

Michael Doughty meant to be signing permanent.

Doughty, Diagouraga, Alzate is a top midfield.

Thought Vernam looked very decent when you played at our place. But then, the whole team looked good that day which seemed out of character at the time - ball down, passing rings around us!

What sport are we talking about now?

Big sporting cities have have more than one professional football team, shocker!
