Two good signings there. Both should really strengthen Carlisle’s and Grimsby’s attacks.

We’ve got Dylan mottley Henry back on loan until jan. Quick winger who scored a few for us last season. Happy with that.

DMH added some much needed pace to our team last season at a time when we were struggling at the wrong end of the VNL. Can remember Chesterfield fans saying he looked out of his depth with them in league 2 though.

I would have liked Thomas for a alternative to Davies, but it’s greedy to sign somebody like that to be fourth choice.

Decent signing that. Not sure you’ll get many better free, affordable players. Any idea on match fitness?
Was trying to figure out if he had been training with anyone this pre season but can't find anything. Be typical if he scores today.

10 goals in League One last season and he couldn't find any takers in that league or any league until mid August? Strange.

Lad knows where the net is, but never settles anywhere.

At Cheltenham, albeit 7 years ago now, he said he wanted to move closer to London, decided he was leaving at the end of the season by January and pretty much downed tools.

I suspect he may have injury issues. I’m sure it’s not relevant now but on a Swindon based podcast Matt Heywood was saying his knee was basically knackered but Grimsby agreed to sign him without doing a medical.

Not saying Wes Thomas is in the same boat but you do have to wonder.

Could also be attitude problems as well given he never stays in one place for long.

Amongst all the chaos of today’s game, we’ve signed Luke Hendrie on loan from Shrewsbury until January. OS was determined to state he is a wingback so I think we know where he’ll play. Seen that he’s played for a shit York side but he played a few games in L1 last season. Anyone else have any info?

We have signed Luke McCullough on loan from Doncaster until January. I imagine he will go straight into the side to replace Jay Harris.

Pleased with that.

He’s had injury problems for the past 2 seasons and so down the pecking order, very good passer of the ball but a tad slow, regularly makes the Northern Ireland squad. Surprised to see us let him go but he does need a run of games.

On a related note to transfer business... double sell-on clauses. Anyone else heard of them?

When Sunderland bought Charlie Wyke from Bradford last month, as you'd expect we got some money from a sell-on clause we had with Bradford. Apparently though, Middlesbrough had a double sell-on clause with us, so we have to give, according to our chief exec, 'a significant portion' of that to Boro.

We had one of those with Aaron Cresswell. We actually received a lot more from West Ham when he was sold on by Ipswich, than we did from Ipswich for the original sale. Somebody else will remember the figures.

But would you recieve anything from Ipswich if West Ham were to sell him? That's the situation we're in, Middlesbrough still getting money for him even though he's now on his third club after leaving them.

'Out of contract international' set to join on Thursday according to Brown. Most realistic names I've seen mentioned are Bilel Moshni (played at Southend with Brown) and Gareth McCauley (38 and may be struggling for a suitor) but could be anyone really.

Also still chasing a Championship centre half on loan. Byron Webster keeps being mentioned.

Bilel Moshni is a nutter.

He'd fit in well at Yeovil. Loves a red card.

Funnily enough someone mentioned on our message board that Yeovil are after him too.

Think he'd be a beast but always likely to get sent off.

We had similar with Andre Gray I believe when he went to Watford from Burnley, despite the fact that we had sold him to Brentford.

Both your and Boros sell on is likely based on profit on the player from the sale, not just a simple % of the next transfer fee. So any bit of money that Bradford get for him you are due percentage of it. And as you have made further profit on it as a result of that, Boro are also due some portion of that. I think most sell on fees are actually worked out like that. Thats my understanding of how ours are set up.

Some transfers include sell ons that go into every future transfer, but the percentage is lowered every time.

Our chief exec sounded a little resentful when he added that 'Middlesbrough have done very well out of Charlie Wyke', he wasn't at the club when we signed Wyke but the owners have faced criticism in the past over rumours that Wyke's signing was poorly negotiated. When we originally sold him to Bradford they responded to allegations that Boro's sell on fee was excessive that we wouldn't have been able to sign him otherwise. Of course we couldn't confirm how much we received but I got the impression that Boro had taken a sizable chunk of it on this occasion too.

I’ve never been that impressed with him defensively, better as a centre midfielder but injury prone. Some of our more inbred fans seem to think the fact he’s a Northern Irish international means he should play more.

We're apparently signing GK Sam Slocombe on loan because Josh Vickers picked up an injury against Grimsby, and that's left us with only Grant Smith.

I'd like us to give Smith a go ahead of a loanee. He's looked good in pre-season and against Port Vale, and I'd much prefer us to give our own players a run ahead of a player sho's only here on a short term deal.

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...ristol-rovers-goalkeeper-sam-slocombe-1921172

Article says Slocombe has a house in Scunny and wants to move back up north, so convenient for both parties I guess.

Yeah, he's a Scunny lad.

Pretty sure he ran a Sunday League side until he moved away with Oxford two or three years ago.

Doesn't sound good for Josh third time in as many seasons he's had the same problem, huge shame as he's a very talented keeper.
