Evina I kind of get because Dan Jones is suspended right now, often injured and horribly out of form, and we don’t have another natural left back.

Turley makes no sense at all, don’t really see how he’s going to offer more than any one of Brisley, Duffy, Hall and Ward. Makes even less sense as we still haven’t replaced Edward Paperhands in goal.

As we found out last season there are some terrible keepers out of contract. We ended up with Reece Charles Cook ffs.

Our current one is single handedly costing us at least a goal a game currently, so the only way is up.

We’ve had Dimi Evtimov training with us but haven’t signed him so Kewell must either think that he’s even worse or be confident of rebuilding Fitzsimons’ confidence.

Fitz wasn't at fault last week Jacob. No keeper would look good with that defence and midfield in front of them.
We're now well on the way to a forty man squad of mediocrity and rammel.
just hope these latest signings have a bit of steel about them and Milsom goes back into midfield.

Don't forget that kid we've got on a season long loan from Swansea who apparently is real. I'm not going to Google it and will go with Kesrin Edwards?

Perhaps not last week (although I would question the first personally), but his attempts at saving Forest Green’s second and third were hopeless, Grimsby and Lincoln were an embarrassment etc etc

Not sure I would agree that he’s been particularly under fire since Yeovil either. In the last three league games, he’s conceded 11 goals from 14 shots on target. Which is... not ideal.

You clearly have huge problems at the back if Terry Hawkridge is playing right back for you!

Signings smack of desperation.

Think I commented on a thread last year about the numbers of the Crewe players we faced. Don’t think a single one was 1-11 which is normally a bad sign, especially when you see numbers like 44 and 52. Can see us being that team this year

It makes sense to go with what you know, the certainly , surely?

Whether they are actually any good or beneficial to the squad is another matter but at least you know what you are getting
In essence that is what i was trying to say though badly worded .
Most managers go for tried and tested and players they feel they know.
We had to go the one step further with Michael Brown recruiting buddies like Pugh, Tonge and Taylor all of whom were his pals/ team mates.
Thing is we are still lumbered with two of them !!

Back on topic, there isn't much available left to sign, always ask myself why are they still free agents 7 games in . Usually in our case they have either been injured or just aren't very good which is why they are jumping to sign.

Tbf, sometimes a month or two into the season you can pick up the odd decent player that are free agents who've held out for a better offer higher up and ended up with nothing. We got Isaiah Osbourne a couple of months into the season last year and he played a massive part in helping keep us up.

Turley was good for us a few years back in the Conference, but towards the end of his spell started losing concentration too often and was also a bit injury prone. Tbh I'm surprised he's playing at this level, but if he's fit and motivated he's got good attributes, big, strong, quick and decent on the ball. Notts' defence looked utter shite against us, so Kewell probably feels that briging in a couple of lads he trusts will help with that.

Nicky Maynard signs for Bury, presumably on loan, Coalan Lavery injured apparently.

Joan Luque's gone to Bromley on loan but it's not been specified how long for.

He can come back here and play in the Checkatrade, which I imagine he will. Correct decision to get him out to get game time, though. It's a big step up from where he's come from to L2.

I hope he enjoyed his debut today.

We've sold two more youths to Premier League Clubs.

Following Herbie James move to Man City we've sold another to Man City, and one to Wolves, the academy is starting to reap rewards with a few coming through to the first team in recent seasons for a change and some big movers... along with the likes of Morsy who went on to the World Cup this year.

Academy now ranked 33rd in the country which is positive considering how shit things have gone for the first team side of things!

Dimi had one poor game with us last season before we... Evtimov back to Forest . Good luck

Brought in Louis Gray on emergency loan as a backup keeper from Everton.

He was our backup during the second half of last season, though never actually played.

We've released Kalvin Kalala and Manny Duku has gone to Barnet on loan.

Squad trimming has begun. Kalvin looked decent but very raw, and Manny has found the step up just that bit too big. Both victims of shocking recruitment in the summer.

Does Duku look a mile off, or just not quite ready yet?

He's far from a million miles away - he's our joint top scorer at the moment (2 goals) he's just come into a mess of a club.

As Duffo says in his interview, the club will be keeping a close eye on him, and hopefully he'll hit the ground running at Barnet, score a few goals and earn a spot back at the club.

Looks like Kalala will be joining Gary Johnson at Torquay.

Not really a transfer rumour as such but apparently if Hull get taken over they want Phil Brown as manager for some reason. I am perfectly happy with that, he hasn't pulled up many trees, the football generally is better under Flitcroft but we haven't exactly pushed on.

If our chairman can get compo for him, then he's a better businessman than a lot of us give him credit for!

Correction (not that anyone really cares) Gray was a free agent having been released in the summer by Everton, I'd just assumed it was an emergency loan.
