Danny Elliott has now signed. Had been in the Spanish 4th tier a striker and prior to that was plying his trade in the USA where he grew up.

Not exactly what we were hoping for but been training with us for a few weeks.
No offence to Mr Elliott and it isn't his fault.

But a truly horrific signing.

The thing that gets me on this is Dior Angus was sent on loan to Nuneaton and did everything asked of him before coming back to us and we then send him back out on loan to the Conference at a time when our only attacking threat is out injured. And then Elliott whose experience is at a level far below that is brought in.

Pretty much had it with this club now, I think it’s best we just resign ourselves to our fate now. Good luck to the lad and hope he’s a success but let’s be honest it’s doubtful at best.

Please with both of our signings today. Young, pacy & strong with great potential.

Much better than signing an old ex-prem player who's 33 and past it like Tisdale did.

The Angus situation is bizarre as surely worth a look? Oddly if he played in the Checkatrade for us and been on loan at Nuneaton can he play for Barrow? Assume the 2 club rule maybe isnt applicable in the Checkatrade?

A lot depends on who scouted Elliott, if Rudge found him I will have more confidence in it... if its one of Smurfs then I wont! Youtube looks great but so did Reggie and MacIntosch!

We are going down I think barring a big turnaround this window. I dont get why Smurf's says we have 400k to spend in January then doesn't actually do it, just makes it worse for himself if so as we build ourselves up in hope... 12 days to save our future.

Smurthwaite is a pathological liar, it's just who he is and what he does. That money never existed, the only surprise to me is if anyone actually did believe him. Now looking like another January transfer window where matters have been made worse. I'm struggling to think of the last one where we actually came out better from it, probably our promotion season in fact. I also do not buy the excuse from the club that it is harder to bring in players in January, well if that's the case then how come plenty other clubs in our league have managed it perfectly fine?

I feel sorry for this lad as just looking at the comments on Vales Twitter announcement on this it has provoked a pretty angry reaction from a lot of Vale fans and its really not his fault.

Totally agree... I mean as soon as the Sykes deal fell through why not spend it elsewhere? Morecambe bring in the Carlisle striker for example? Why cant we compete with that if in need of an experienced league two hitman? It can be done!

Wonder who Spainishpete was on OVF last night who seemed to know all about the signings and trialists?

the two problems we have are getting the useless owner out, and the distinct possibilty of exiting the football league. I expect achieving the second one will also achieve the first one.

Do you? I think he would still carry on like Chesterfield for example.

Connor Ronan, a midfielder signing from Wolves.

Bit frustrated we have so many midfielders, we really need wingers and a striker!

Good veteran, got lots of experience, will be a leader type figure. But boy is his actual footballing ability not brilliant. He'll have games where he looks like a Championship defender, but after 89 minutes of solid play, he'll make a horrific error by giving away a daft penalty or getting a silly red card for a 2nd booking or losing his man for a goal.

Should be ok for you guys given the drop in level, but watch out for the errors, they are frequent and glaring.

Kinda ridiculous that since the window opened, we've lost 3 players to injuries and all sound long shots to play tomorrow, plus let 4 players leave, 2 who were expiring loanees and 2 more we've shipped out. So, we're down 7 players and don't have enough defenders to fill out the team, plus will be carrying a couple of fringe U23s on the bench.

It's alright, we're only playing MK Dons away......

Thanks George. Pretty happy with the signing, hopefully he can add some steel into the side. Sid Nelson, who we had on loan from Millwall we wanted to sign permanently, alas that sounds like its not going to happen anymore.

Rollin was hit and miss last season during his loan spell, has he featured much for you this?
No , Not at all.

Sounds like he'll fit in well with our keystone cops back line then, so long as he is a kick it and head it kinda defender I'll be happy, seen it so many times this season when our defence have a crazy spark of the Brazil's about them, try and do a Cruyff turn on the edge of our own box only to end up tripping themselves up.

Exactly this. He had some excellent games for us, he’s dominant in the air, but you always know there’s a major calamity around the corner.

I think with the value of the club plummeting he would get what he could while he could. Its all about the pound notes with that mercenary.

But then surely accepting a bid when relegated to league two would have been wiser?

He probably thinks we are worth a similar amount as we are still a league club. As he admits himself, he's not a football man, so he makes it up as he goes!

Smurf might as Well sack aspin and appoint himself as manager.

They all love it under Flitcroft, he’s got them playing the best football I’ve personally seen from a Mansfield team and he can’t put it in the net for them.

Can this get advertised in the Chad or something. Someone please let the know Mansfield public know :sur:

Heard this on Friday Sport on the way home.

Laughed off a free transfer claim by going off at a tangent, not really answering the question and then admitting he doesn't know whether a fee has been paid at all?

Bit of a contradictory interview full stop.

The ‘no fee’ stuff is bullshit tho right?

We have signed 3 foreigners in a week. 2 today and the third played last sat, looked ok. Not even gunna attempt to spell their names. Defender midfielder and striker.
Striker comes with a decent pedigree in Spain having played la liga and a fair amount at their 2nd division level.

Our foreign legion continues to grow, and tbh I don't think the fears of doing a Leyton orient or vale are gunna come to reality. We seem to be bringing in players we need, and we have a couple in the side currently who are at the top of their game.

I'm looking forward to the run in, a push for the play offs should be attainable

I'll wait until I've seen them play before getting that giddy.

We are still a striker short for sure.

Striker to sign next week, all we know is he can’t play on Tuesday as he’s cup tied so!
