Our recent record against Carlisle isn't great is it? Give Aspin his due, our away form is acceptable this season, but he doesn't have a plan how to win home games. He is a one trick pony. A win on saturday would be priceless, but I just don't trust him to deliver it.

Used to be terrible but won 3 or 4 in the last few meetings.

Jimmy Oates has gone back to Hereford for the rest of the season. He was our third choice right back with Wilson arriving, though there were definitely times this season when I'd like to have seen him over Sweeney.
And the gaffer has said he would like another player in, but on loan not a signing

Might be another couple of outgoings for us with Ellis Chapman going out on loan and my money's on James Wilson leaving, too.

DC seems happy to sit back and see what next week brings r.e. striker availability but I don't think we can afford not to sign one. A DC side would find a way because they always do but if Akinde gets injured, we lose power and pace up front - something that isn't Rhead's strength.

Is there still the loan window or has that been abolished now?

Nope, just the transfer window (bar emergency 'keeper loans), although you can still loan out to NL and below.

David Wheeler has been recalled by QPR from his loan at Portsmouth. Naturally, loads of our fans are saying we should be trying to get him on loan but I very much doubt we will be able to.

Fully expect him to end up at MK with Tisdale who’s bound to be wetting himself at the prospect of signing another former player....

Bang on. Signed on loan for the rest of the season. Let's hope we see his form of a couple of seasons back.

Pressley’s confirmed that Sowerby won’t be extending his loan.

That’s 3 key players we’ve lost and have so far failed to replace.

It has been and continues to be a typical diabolical January transfer window for Carlisle United.

Bloody hell HG. Is there anything you can be positive about!!??

Your 4th in the league for Christ’s sake. Would hate to hear from you if you start falling down the league.

We're signing Alex Iacovitti on loan from Forest.

Believe he's been on loan at Mansfield & Forest Green in the last year or two. Any opinions on him?

We're also trying to get Surridge back.

FFS this is getting ridiculous now. Saturday week will definitely be interesting
Was always going to happen. Personally, I’m not too disappointed as I doubt we’d have ever gotten near his wages, assuming MK are paying some or all of his wage. He’s a good player for sure but has only really had one great season since being a full time pro. He does also get a lot of injuries.

You’re right though, it’s going to be intense next Saturday. Can’t wait.

Louis Dodds has had his loan terminated and returned to Chesterfield finally ending an 11 year association with the Vale over two spells. Shame it didnt work out for him but Aspin didn't favour him although another baffling decision in terms of the complete lack of options we have at the minute with injuries and loans going back!

Playing for his boyhood idol though.

We've signed Alex Jones on loan from Bradford until the end of the season. Any good Port Vale fans? I see his goalscoring record isn't too shabby.

He was decent for us before his injuries.

He did well for us, but has had a lot of injury problems since. I wouldnt expect too much of him to start with.

Probably the best squad of midfield players we've had since I've been supporting Lincoln. I'm not entirely sure how we're going to fit them all in.
Maybe cheekily try playing a 3-6-2, the refs in this league are so much up Lincoln’s arses that they’d probably just let you do it.

Akin Famewo has returned to Luton. Showed some promise as a left-sided CB but was a complete sick note and struggled to get back into the team. Wish him well. Frees up more wages for us I guess.

Timi Elsnik gone to Northampton from derby.

Had him until a few weeks ago. Shame to see him go. Likeable lad, works decently hard and scored 3 cracking goals for us, just wasn’t getting the time I think he and derby were hoping for.

Solid and shrewd signing for Northampton there.

Elsnik is a very good player. Tends to have anonymous games but a game changer on his day.

He left because we had to many loans, I’m sure DF would have perfered to get rid of one of our contracted players if possible.

Exactly.

But he still wasn’t getting the game time I think he was hoping for.

Very very good finisher, doesn’t contribute much else when chances don’t come along though and he’s made out of actual tissue paper (13 starts in two years due to constant injuries) - a very good signing IF FIT, which he never is.

Well prepare t hear from me cos we absolutely will be falling down the league. As predictable as the tide, the club gets into a good league position, so weakens the squad significantly in January. It’s what this board does.

He's not the hold up type of striker then? Is he better playing in a two rather than up top on his own?

I see his goal ratio is very good but as you say he's never fit!

From when he was with us definitely not a player who will hold the ball up and bring others in, quite often forget he’s on the pitch until he has an attempt at goal. His biggest strength is his finishing, he is very clinical. Although listed as a striker his best work at Vale was when he would drift in from out wide.

We had him on loan a few years back in non league and he looked quality, didn’t manage to score here but did everything but, his all round game was excellent and I guess he’s also improved a lot since as he’s been at League 1 level since then.

Yeah good at making runs and finishing. Murdered Scunny in the relegation season when we started like a train. Had he stayed history may have been different for Vale! Instead we relied on Big Reg and fucking JJ Hooper to keep us up!
