County signed a few players of Doyle’s caliber in the summer and look where it got them.

FWIW I’ve a really weird feeling both Macc and Notts are going to stay up.

Looks like we have signed Craig Mackail-Smith, which I don’t know what to think about seeing as he’s similar to our other strikers and we could have done with a target man who holds the ball up.
He's injury prone mate and way down the pecking order at Wycombe but i wish him well as he helped us get promotion last season.

Signed Mortherwell defender Aaron Taylor-Sinclair on loan until the end of the season. Sounds if hes fit he should be a level about league 2 but he has struggled with injuries. Former Plymouth and Wigan player.

Looks like Kyle Howkins is coming back. That would be a good signing based on his previous time with us.

Good player but we don't really need defenders. Our defence is pretty solid and we have kept quite a few clean sheets. I would say we need a creative midfielder like a Michael o Connor Chris lines kind of player and an experienced striker with an eye for a goal.

Wonder who the league one striker who’s not coming now is? Someone played for Aspin before so possibly Sam Jones but he’s more a midfielder?

We still appear to be trying to get a striker in by the deadline tomorrow.

Solid bit of business with him and Sterry. They give us decent defensive cover which in turn provides a couple more midfield options as Ng & Pickering can now be used further forward as needed.

Another striker in tomorrow would sort us out. Can't work out from Artell's ramblings if another signing is on the cards or not.

I do think we'll be bringing in an attacker of some sort tomorrow but I'm in absolute hysteria at how miserable some of our fans are saying it's a waste of money to bring in two natural fullbacks. Yes because our current fullbacks are 1. not natural and 2. an injury away from us putting in a slow old head like Nolan or Hunt or putting a young lad from the U18s in there.

I know I moaned about practically everything we did under Davis (when he was shite of course) for years but things are finally looking up and still people want to moan? Swear some fans are more enthusiastic for a change in manager now than when Davis had us bottom of the league.

If we get Howkins over the line tomorrow its a cracking leaving gift from Aspin... but arguably the wrong position needed currently! Played a couple of times for WBA this season and was excellent for us late last season.

Odd rumour on twitter was linking us with Zac Clough! Outlandish that one surely.

I for one am very happy with the business done. As you say it gives us options. Ng and Pickering as well as they have done at full back can do an equally good job if not better job further up the pitch. Were are pretty much fully covered now at the back and in midfield.

Proper dads army upfront.

He was decent 5 years ago

I thought he was extremely unlucky not to get an offer when we got promoted. I liked him and he could also play in midfield if required. Assuming injury has not been too serious should do a good job for you.

Would be a class above this level if Bury can keep him fit. But there's just no way he'll make the first team at Ibrox anymore with Davis, Coulibaly and Jack the preferred midfield 3

Despite no manager at the time we had a manic transfer deadline day!

Kyle Howkins on loan from WBA was outstanding for us last season. Should really add quality to our back line.

Toby Edser joins a midfielder on loan from Forest who had been at Woking.

Callum Whelan a Manchester United U23 midfielder on loan, seems very highly rated but his first spell away from Old Trafford

Also the permanent signing of Dan Trickett-Smith from Leek who was playing there after a spell in the USA... intriguing one this as was hugely rated at Crewe and got a big money move to Liverpool but it didn’t work out for him. He goes back to Leek on loan and will be back with us in the summer.

Then the controversy....

Vale in need of an experienced striker had agreed a deal to sign Marc Richards from Swindon on an 18 month deal, it leaked out and Rico was on his way to sign when the chairman pulled the plug (just as news came through ironically that the Supporters Club where to back protests against Smurf to sell up). Smurf claims by the time he left his house it would be too late to get it done (3 hours from Northampton to Stoke?!?) Wellens simply asked why we didn’t do it over email!

Gutting as bringing one of our best strikers this century back would of been a huge boost as surely seen us ease away from danger.

Overall the loanees look half decent if they can adapt. The defence which isn’t too bad anyway looks even stronger but still reliant on Pope for goals...

Seeing as this is a few days late this was our business which was all rather weird as we didn't have a manager.

In
Callum Whelan ( Man Utd )
Daniel Trickett-Smith ( Leek Town )
Toby Edser ( Forest )
Kyle Howkins ( WBA )

Howkins played a half season loan last year blighted by injury but is decent.
Edser and Whelan i have no clue about.
Trickett-Smith is absolutely bizarre. I worked with his dad. Was a shining light at Liverpool as a youngster, only have to google him and he was the best thing since sliced bread. Then went to America.
Then back to Leek Town in the 8th tier, signed by us only to be loaned back, really weird piece of business.

Also thanks to our idiot and liar of a chairman Marc Richards had agreed an 18 month deal to come back from Swindon only for some cock and bull story about Richards being in Northampton and unable to get the deal done in time. Lies .

We had a good deadline day. Managed to offload high earners Butcher (To Dundee) and Anderson (contract cancelled) and then Mirfin has gone on loan to York until the end of the season.

Ben Turner comes in so we should have enough in defence now and then Monday night we signed a lad called Willem Tomlinson on a free after he cancelled his contract at Blackburn.

Since the site has been down, we've signed Stelios Demetriou from Ross County, Zak Jules previously of Shrewsbury, Brice Ntambwe from Partick Thistle, Liandro Martis from Leicester, Shamir Mullings from Maidstone and Botti Biabi on loan from Swansea.

And Shaun Goater has come in as a coach.

Feed the goat, what a legend.
Zak Jules mate is possibly one of the worst players i have ever seen, and following Vale i've seen some tripe.

He looked like he had never kicked a ball in his life and had the movement of a new born foal.
One appearance and boom he was discarded.

We're signing a striker today.
Chris Dagnall. Makes sense from a squad depth viewpoint, but he wasn’t the target man we needed, having brought in Pringle and Kieron Morris to supply the ammunition. Sounds like there were selection errors by Mellon in last night’s home defeat by Northampton, bringing in too many of the new signings.

So on deadline day we brought in.......

Tyler Curran - 18 year old CB from Southend on a permanent deal. Raw and one for the future clearly.

Cameron McGlip - a 20 year old Australian/Scottish Centre Back/CM from Birmingham. There were rumours that Birmingham wanted to keep him but couldn't afford to. He joins on a permanent deal.

Kyle Bennett - 28 year old diminutive winger from Bristol Rovers. Rovers fans generally think he's crap but Pompey fans say he was great when they got promoted from league 2. Hopefully we see more of his Pompey form than his Rovers form!!

Theo Robinson - 30 year old striker from Southend on loan until the end of the season. We desperately need goals and Robinson seems to know where the goal is at league 2 level. Signed at 11pm on deadline day which added an element of excitement!

I'm quite pleased with our business. We have 6 loanees (despite Wellens saying he prefers permanent deals) but have also signed players permanently - looking more for next season, (which is positive) and the 2 players we brought in on deadline day bring experience, and actually look like they are more on trial, rather than random players from premier league clubs that are generally not particularly great. We appear to be bucking the trend that a lot of league 2 sides follow. Whether that works or not, time will tell.

We got Kristian Dennis til the end of the season, which I’m pretty pleased about, as long as we’re not paying most of his wages.
