Carl Dickinson has left us and is training with Vale for the rest of the season. He's still contracted but has been told he's not part of our plans. Sad to see but not a surprise as he hasn't been in the last seven matchday squads and was at Stoke's game last Saturday when we were playing. The club didn't even wish him Happy Birthday which is unlike us for a current player. Knew something was up.

Strange one, he would surely be a huge asset to that young back line of yours? Was decent enough for us and has close ties with Pope for example so glad we can assist him training.

I can only think he's said or done something that has upset the apple cart. We all know he's a strong character but i'm disappointed to lose him. As you say he was a good player for us bringing experience into a young back line, Gary Warren is our only other defender over 24.

Craig Tanner from Motherwell mentioned as a ‘done deal’ on Exeweb. The person who posted called the Forte signing before anyone else so this may have legs.

Talking of legs, Tanner has been out for a year with a knee injury so that’s a concern but prior to that was a very good player and did really well at Argyle. Only 24 so if this were to happen then he’d hopefully be young enough to make a full recovery.

I think that one was mooted back in January? I don't think we were ever made a move for him, mind.

Is he the ginger one?

Yes the ginger right back. He's been terrible this season but the two years before that he was the best right back in the league. Could play League one so would be a good signing.

Anyone know if Aaron Collins is out of contract at Morecambe in the summer? He’s done really well since joining and is someone I’d like us to take a look at....

Yes he signed a deal in January until the end of the season
One of those gambles that sometimes pays off, he has done well for Morecambe.

On 7 June 2018, Collins joined Colchester United on loan for the 2018–19 season.[14] He made his competitive debut on 4 August in Colchester's 0–0 draw with Notts County.[15] His loan was terminated by mutual consent on 2 January 2019 after scoring one goal in eleven appearances for the club.[16]
In January 2019, Collins' contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers was terminated by mutual consent.[17] The following month on 9 February 2019, he signed for Morecambe until the end of the 2018–19 seaso

Stoke Sunderland and Preston after our George Edmundson can’t see us holding onto him if the bidding starts

Leeds interested in Reece Brown apparently, out of contract this summer. Would be the second player they've signed off us in the last 18 months, the other being Jordan Stevens.

Need to make sure we get a good sell-on clause, wouldn't shock me if the lad goes on to play for England.

Jason Shackell has signed a new one-year deal, which is tremendous news for us.

We have two good CB's in Bostwick and Bolger, but Shackell has looked like one who's played below his level this season and who drags others up to his level when he's in the side.

How much are you paying him given the obscene amounts Derby were supposedly paying him?

Further to that Josh Vickers has signed a one year contract extension as well.
Pointing towards that we'll not be looking to sign any GK's in the summer.

I'm expecting Gilks to get another deal, so maybe Smith will end up out on loan again or sold.

No-where near the £20k/week he was apparently picking up at Derby last season, so I doubt money is a massive priority for him now given he's been paid Championship and PL wages all his career (this season was his first outside of the Championship).

He only lives just outside of Lincoln as well and said locality was a pull because he didn't want to move and travel too far.

Sir Matthew Rhead in L1, eh? Only feels right that someone who's been hear from the start remains for another year at least.

Not been a bad 3 seasons for him - NL Title, L2 Title, Checkatrade Winner, FA Cup QF, FA Trophy Semi, Lincolnshire Senior Cu...

Stay away!
:-)

I doubt we’d get him, anyway as it would be a heck of a relocation to the south west but he’s definitely the sort of player I’d like us to take on. There’s plenty of gems out there, many of whom will be released by bigger clubs.

I’d much sooner we go for young and talented players, rather than look at the likes of Jonathan Forte, who’s well past it.

That's not strictly true though, if it was we wouldn't have Luke Varney as Blackpool were offering him a lot more money than we were. Location was his deciding factor.

Location has a factor sure, but ultimately that’s down to Blackpool not offering quite enough to make it worthwhile.

Shackell is still probably one of the best paid players in the division along with Tyler Walker, and I’m sure Cheltenham still offered Varney a very good wage, location and money have to work together.

Lincoln along with Mansfield are in a position to offer wages that compete with most in L1 for the right player so it’s possible he didn’t have a better package elsewhere. I’ll happily admit location is a factor to most if not all but it’s worthless without a big wage too.

Been keeping an eye on Ashley Nadesan's contract situation at Fleetwood. He hasn't signed an extension yet, be interesting to see how that goes. There's no obvious reason for him stalling as he's playing games and doing well, and Fleetwood aren't exactly stingy with contract offers but he wasn't happy at Fleetwood before being recalled this season, Rosler had ignored him, Barton is the one who saw his potential and now Barton is embroiled in all sorts of trouble. Could be that if Barton goes then Nadesan will also want to go. One to watch.

Good on his day... sadly that has been about once every 3 months or so hence fallen out of favour and had very little game time.

We've also been linked with Bishop, but I think he will stay at the Stags. We've got a 26 year old Spaniard called Lassana Mendes coming in on trial in pre season.
