Seems we dodged a bullet when we sold Josh Yorwerth to Posh in the summer. Undisclosed fee but rumoured to be £100k. Four year ban for deliberately missing a random drugs test. He then admitted to taking cocaine in the fa hearing.

I would expect the ban to be reduced on appeal or it effectively ends his career which is very harsh.

He was a right cock for you against us at our place in April. Tried to get Pope sent off.

Lewis McGugan leaves after a short trial deemed not to be any better than what we have which is worrying.

To be fair Bradford didn't want him, not one of the meh Scottish teams so guessing he is no where near ready.

He had a few issues with being wound up by other players but is generally a good league two centre back. I do recall him being given the run around by Danny Hylton who got to him so much he forgot to play and just went on and on at the ref all day. Could Pope have got to him too?

All moot now as he will not be playing for a while.

Good news from Crawley. Craig Brewster is back as a first team coach. He was actually our manager when we got promoted from League two a couple of years back and has something like a fifty % win rate for us.

Previously at Plymouth and is well thought if in coaching circles...which begs the question what's he doing at Crawley.

Looks like our 17 year old striker Kion Etete might be off to Spurs. Has been on trial there and scored two for their youth team at the weekend, made a handful of sub appearances for us earlier in the season.

We’ve got him signed to a professional deal, which is good and means we can demand a proper fee, but it’s slightly dispiriting that he’ll follow Jack Bearne and Dongda He in becoming clearly outstanding players from our academy to disappear off to big Premier League clubs before making any impression here at all.

They probably will never make a impression anywhere.

Yep, happening all too often.

The big clubs hoover up all the talent dotted around the smaller clubs because they can entice them with massive financial offers. They then get lost in the meat grinder that is the big PL academies and most end up wasting away playing year after year on loan with no consistent development or in a clubs U23s playing pointless training matches.

They then get released in their early 20s and either drop out of football altogether, or occasionally make a comeback later in their careers. I wonder how much talent has been wasted by sitting youngsters in the big PL academies over the last decade or so.

We've lost a handful of players over the years to this issue. Seems a few other clubs are getting picked clean as well.

We’ve lost four kids to big prem clubs and Stoke this year alone. Paid big money so we can’t afford to turn it down. They’d be better surely trying to get into a first team at this level than top clubs!

We usually lose ours to Villa, Leicester, Forest or the Sheffield clubs and probably lose two or three a season.

Seems we lost an U18 to Huddersfield this week, who I think we only signed in the summer.

Jamie Sterry has gone back to Newcastle after a few weeks of warming the bench. All a bit odd as Artell didn’t know where he was on Monday, Newcastle then said he’d been recalled and today Artell says the club haven’t had any contact from Newcastle.

Don’t know what to make of it as Artell did make it clear when he signed that he wouldn’t get in the team straight away but we were desperate for the numbers. But when he did get in the team, Artell played him out of position. Can’t see it helping our reputation when we try for loans in the future but wouldn’t want a situation again where we’re playing crap loan players because we’re forced to.

Jon Welsh has left us by mutual consent. Think he’s fucked. Massive shame.

Jordan Bowery being coy about whether he’ll stay in the summer. Some will lose their shit if he goes. Personally think he gets off lightly due to his work rate. His ability is so questionable. Porter’s goal against Crawley said it all, a tap in because Bowery shinned it wide of an open net from 10 yards. Far from indespensible and nowhere near top of the list to get a new contract in the summer.

We had our entire u17s wiped out two years ago by Man City and Liverpool and due to being in the tinpot league, they took the whole lot for free.

We've opened contract talks with every out of contract player (only 6 of them).

We were already in talks with Rhead anyway. Rumours were that Shackell is off to the States to play, which would be a blow and I think O'Connor has an appearance clause so that one should be pretty straight forward if it's taken up by us.

After promotion from the NL Cowley offered everyone contracts but some were more token ones so it might be the same for some of them this time around, although whereas you questioned whether some would make the step up a league back then, I don't think there's anyone in that situation this season.

Also need to be getting Anderson, Andrade and Toffolo on new deals. We've been really good at keeping anyone sale-able under contract in the last 3 years so I'd expect them to be sorted, too.

Michael Jolley on former captain John Welsh’s suspended prison:

“We only became aware that there’d been an incident a short time ago. Once we became aware we started an internal process and people will have seen last week that John moved on from the club.”

Jaden Brown who we took on loan from Huddersfield in January, has been recalled without playing a single minute for us.

To be fair Woodman and Wilson have been great at left back so no reason to play Brown for the sake of it, and best he doesn’t hang around for no reason.

I’m not sure which is more embarrassing for John Welsh, the fact that he asked her ‘do you know who I am’ or the fact that he had drank 11 pints of shandy.

Radio Humberside reporting that Wes Thomas and Jolley had an altercation after the match on Saturday and he's played his last match for us. I wasn't confident he was gonna stay anyway, but it's annoying as fuck as he was the only attacking player we have who seems capable of displaying a bit consistency over a substantial period.

How long until Newport are in touch?

What’s annoyed me most about this is how suddenly according to our fans on Twitter he’s only bang average and won’t be missed.
Absolute bollocks, best striker we’ve got and I’ll be sad to see him go although like you I didn’t expect him to stay past this season anyway.

Seasons over anyway, wasn't going to be here next season, and if we want to challenge next season we need better. Yes he has done well for us and is our best attacking threat, but it shows how bang average and below we are when we will miss someone like Thomas.

Here is a great interview of a reporter trying to get a straight answer and a manager not answering the question multiple times

Seems obvious from that, Thomas doesn't want to be here next season so Jolley has said he will play players who do want too for the last 6 games, an argument happened after the game and now Thomas is no longer training with the club!
