Having thought about it, I'd guess most signings at this level attach some risk to them, otherwise they wouldn't play at this level . It's up to the manager to get the best out of what he's got and have a bit of luck with the gambles.I hear what you’re saying regarding CD, but he’s far from injury prone (if that’s what you’re implying?) - which is what you would usually expect from a player of his age.
I recall when we signed Gary Jones at the tender age of 36 and thinking the same, but he was absolutely phenomenal for the club.
He will be perfect foil for Eoin Doyle next season.
The non-league player (French) is a squad player, but again, he’s very highly rated and sought after - along with the new LB from Scotland. There’s every chance Henley could start at LB.
Henley seems to be a player who has just found football in the US difficult adapting too. I honestly know nothing about him and his injuries. I always just presumed he’s been a squad player wherever he has been - but at this level, he should be a decent addition. I can’t see him starting in front of Kelvin Mellor, but we’ll just have to see.
The squad is beginning to take some shape, and I’m confident that our defence is already stronger than last season.
Quietly confident, but next season will be very, very competitive.
With CD, it's more the fact that he's 35 and I always thought he was someone who relied on pace. I don't think fitness is an issue, it's whether he has the legs to lead a line effectively any more. Could be inspired, could be an expensive mistake.
