Was very good for us, he's a battler and will run his arse off for the cause. Another one of those strikers that it just clicked for him whilst he was here. As soon as we signed Stockton, I knew we weren't re-signing Bennett, which I'm gutted about. We haven't had a good summer so far. Jimbo has another big job on his hands.

He seems to have been signing to take pressure off Pope, i.e. give us an option when he's injured or struggling as he is older now!
Just have to see what happens then. I think he had a bit of an upturn in form when we went to Morecambe because he was playing alongside Ellison. With us he was usually alongside a younger more supporting-striker type player such as Hallam Hope or Ashley Nadesan. He needs someone who can do the thinking for both of them.

Yep, having seen Stockton and Bennett, together in the same side too, I know which one I'd put money on to score more.

We have made some very very underwhelming signings so far!

Hopefully that may mean Doyle to us (if random twitter rumours are to be believed). Another rumour is that we have had a bid rejected for Hallam Hope. (sounds like Wellens wants to get the Hope/Yates band back together!)

Stefan Scougall signs a new one-year contract, so that's all of our contract offers done and dusted, with two accepting (Jones and Scougall) and two rejecting (Parkes and Devitt).

And for those wondering about how our one year contract policy was shaping up, a quick look over transfermarkt confirms we only have one player (16 year old Jarrad Branthwaite) contracted beyond June 2020.

Definitely opens the door too him leaving, I wouldn't mind keeping him. But I think Bowyer may want a couple of younger strikers too compliment Donaldson and Vaughan.

Richie Bennett is absolutely shite. A slow cart horse with no football brain, no ability, shite in the air for a big lad. Can’t believe he’s got another 2 year deal at this level.

I think that Bennett is a solid enough signing, and will take some pressure of Pope.

That's the main thing, we still need to sign a pacey hitman as a forth striker. If we can get a decent striker, Amoo and someone like the Shrews Winger Gillead? We will be looking much better.

Bennett seems a hit at Morecambe but meh at Carlisle, hopefully we get the former!

Reports suggest that Hallam Hope has been seen in Mansfield this morning.

Not a player but a welcome addition to our backroom staff as Eric Kinder leaves his position as Exeter assistant manager to return to his old job in charge of our academy after six years away.

Kinder oversaw probably the most promising crop of players from our youth setup, with the likes of Gary Madine, Tom Aldred, Brad Potts, Kyle Dempsey and Mark Gillespie, as well as a number of players who succeeded at lower levels. It's not the first time he's been linked with a return to CUFC, good to have him back.

Good luck to him. Not surprised he’s gone back up north as always felt it was a temporary move for him to assist Matt Taylor. I think his experience was just what was needed in his first year....

Wayne Carlisle has been named as his replacement

Odd considering he's supposed to be on holiday in Phuket

In fairness, 5 hours ago he put this on his Instagram.

Could be a hotel in Mansfield I guess.

We're expected to sign a 27-year-old striker on Tuesday. Askey says he's got lots of league experience, is a different type of striker to what we've got and has won things.

Sounds a lot like Mark Cullen.

I was just thinking not but two or three hours ago that it had all gone quiet on the Cullen front. Bradford were rumoured to be interested but that was a while ago and his track record at this level is enough that he couldn't be without offers.
