Northampton have taken Jon Guthrie on trial apparently...Come on then Walsall/Crewe fans, how bad is he? Over a hundred games for each mostly in L1 and at a good age, suggests not that bad.

Depends what formation JD plays. If we have 3 CMs like last season I can see him fitting in alongside Bish to allow Mellis/Khan to go further forward.

We needed a backup LB so CJ can concentrate on being a winger.

Apparently slating him on bobs board, bet he’s better than anything they’ve got! The cheek!

The most frustrating Academy product we've ever had after Gary Roberts. But unlike Roberts, whose misdemeanours were mainly off the field, Moore was easily the most frustrating on it.

Had a constant attitude that made him think he was better than what he was. From 2010-2012 in League Two he was absolutely fantastic despite his inconsistency. But he felt he was a Championship level player and was often poorly advised by his Agent, Clive Clarke. Two unconvincing years in League One saw us finally cut ties. On his day he's a great player, but we always said he was a poor man's Theo Walcott due to his obvious lack of consistency.

Hardly pulled up any trees at Vale and Bristol Rovers since, although Bury fans seem to talk about him in a much higher regard.

Pretty much.

I think Bury fans have probably got rose tinted spectacles as he has been part of a promotion team.

I remember someone who looked like he should have the ability, but he simply hasn't got the drive to be a top player. Always looked half arsed and always pussied out of 50/50 challenges.

He was poor 3-4 years ago so I wouldn't expect him to be any better now.

Not transfer news but Danny Whitaker has announced his retirement from playing this evening. The word legend gets thrown about far too often these days, but he rightly deserves that title at Macc. Will no doubt go on to be manager at some point, and hopefully be around the club as long as John Askey was.

We had Cedric Evina (scored the winner), Theo Vassell on trial tonight as well as Joe Hardy and Theo Archibald from Brentford

Vassell wasn’t quite up to EFL level IMO but did ok in patches. He got targeted quite often by opposition wingers.

Heard he was on trial at Oxford too so not sure which is right!

Was a mainstay for us in the worst defence we've had in years, at times looked okay and at other times was shocking. There is a player in there but he is too within himself. He isn't much of a talker or a shouter, isn't really physically dominating, doesn't win many tackles but given all of that he was still among the better of our shocking back 4 over the past two seasons. But at the end of the day we were relegated and we are also happy to see the back of him so that might tell you (or Oxford fans!) enough.

We have Kairo Edwards-John, Danny Guthrie, Koby Arthur and an unknown short, quick black trialist known only as Danny so far - on trial for us tonight as we drew 1-1 with Leamington.

We have also turned down bids for George Dobson and Morgan Ferrier who have now both asked to leave, so that ain't good for us! Though the silver lining is that this has brought an amazing quote from Darrell Clarke, "They won't mess me about that's for sure because if they do I'll chop them off at the knees. But they know that."

Nope i'm basing it on how i saw him last season. Its not all about goals and assists at this level. I'm not saying he's in the top ten players in the division and yeah he has his flaws but for league 2 he's a useful squad player to have. Not every player can be Danny Mayor etc.

Koby is nowhere near EFL standard unfortunately

He sounds tough then which is good but we didn't really need any more midfield steel. We already have Khan and Mellis and then we let go of Grant so really we're full in that department.

To be fair he’s pretty well rated by Portsmouth fans.

I recommend anybody on Twitter searching Dion name, it’s full of our bitter little non-league friends across the M1.

Well he played for us last night in a friendly against Oxford City, and is due to feature again in our next one against Thame.

Can't say i'm too hopeful unless he's in a squad player and nothing more.

He's turned down Kilmarnock in the spl and Europa league football to join a vanity project. They must be paying him loads to do that.

Oh. Well this was only based our local podcast saying that he was in spain. If he is good enough to go on trial with the best footballing team in the lower divisions though, I wouldnt mind having him here.

Edit: came from here on the instagram of football centre where we are in spain. Even if it wasn't for the eyes of Oxford fans, I wouldn't trust it as it says Waters and Newell are in the team, and they arent even there.

He didn't want to uproot his family. However like you say he must be on a fair whack. That to me is the best signing made by any league two club so far. Just what you need in division 2 is an experienced heading stick

We've got some 15 year old wonderkid called Ben Chrisene coming through. Getting good reports during the pre-season games. Liverpool and a few other unspecified champions league clubs are following him. Guess he will make a couple of appearances this year and then move on when he turns 16.
