We've got some 15 year old wonderkid called Ben Chrisene coming through. Getting good reports during the pre-season games. Liverpool and a few other unspecified champions league clubs are following him. Guess he will make a couple of appearances this year and then move on when he turns 16.
The big question is how have you kept hold of them until now as development fees are peanuts. Youve had a few wonderkids come through. Is it due to your location and the fact clubs cant sign up youngsters if they live more than x distance away (is that still a rule)?

The most frustrating Academy product we've ever had after Gary Roberts. But unlike Roberts, whose misdemeanours were mainly off the field, Moore was easily the most frustrating on it.

Had a constant attitude that made him think he was better than what he was. From 2010-2012 in League Two he was absolutely fantastic despite his inconsistency. But he felt he was a Championship level player and was often poorly advised by his Agent, Clive Clarke. Two unconvincing years in League One saw us finally cut ties. On his day he's a great player, but we always said he was a poor man's Theo Walcott due to his obvious lack of consistency.

Hardly pulled up any trees at Vale and Bristol Rovers since, although Bury fans seem to talk about him in a much higher regard.

Agree with most of this. He does some very 'Championship' things but can also frustrate by looking distinctly uninterested.

I have to say though, it's incredibly difficult to judge him on his time at Vale given his brother committed suicide the day he signed for us. Obviously, that delayed his progress for us and maybe the flashes of brilliance would've been more frequent had that personal tragedy not happened.

Wish him all the best wherever he ends up.

Dempster actually wants to sign this Joe Quigley lad we've got on trial. He's impressed out in Portugal. I'd sooner us give Graham/Knowles game time than a 22 year old who's already had 12 clubs.

I’m not sure re that ruling, but we do have a fantastic reputation for our academy so maybe we’re now the preferred choice for many kids. We tend to give players a real chance which could sway the decision for some families.

Hopefully we can get Chrisene signed on a pro deal when he’s old enough but he may get snapped up like Ampadu.

We had Cedric Evina (scored the winner), Theo Vassell on trial tonight as well as Joe Hardy and Theo Archibald from Brentford

We had Theo Archibald on loan last season, good player I thought. Big strong winger decent pace got a trick or two and has a solid shot on him. Likes to shoot on sight, not scared to have a go. Would be a decent signing imo.

It is weird considering we already have Rose, Maynard, Cook, Davies and Knowles, Graham is on loan to Kiddy I think.

He’s never going to get game time.

Wheater took a reported 50% pay cut 2 years ago, as Bolton adjusted to decreased revenues (not very well, but you know).

Still crazy he's gone to Salford.
Ah okay, cheers for that. Still if that thread is right (might well not be mind!), then that cut would take down to 8.5k pw. Would he take that much of a pay cut again to go to Salford? I'd be flabbergasted if he's on less than 5k.

Maybe knowing you're going to be on TV a lot might be another thing that attracts players to Salford?

I'm pretty sure players don't give a flying if their on TV or not. At 32 David Wheater definitely cares more about his pay packet than he does playing football on TV.

Doesn't have to uproot his family, only a minor drop in wages, probably a nice signing on fee and likely to be promoted.

No brainer for Wheater.

Bet they make a few more signings of similar ilk. slimy fuckers.

Yep, he'll be on a very good wage, definitely not bothered about being at a glamour club or anything. I've met him a couple of times around Bolton, incredibly down to earth and good to talk to.

I don’t blame Wheater at all, local, L2 and good money presumably. Still think Salford are a fair way off (at the minute) this idea that they’ll go straight up again.

Not if they continue signing players like this. Momentum is a big thing

The division already looks like it's gonna be stronger than last season, in my opinion. I think there's gonna be quite a fierce promotion battle.

Worryingly, I think you're right.

Decent but too anonymous for too long in games, off to New Zealand I think.

I would have liked him, sort of player we need at the moment - the story put across was we were trying to pry him away from New Zealand but it’s not happening.

Watch him sign for Salford now.

Just read on our forum the Peterborough chairman has "lashed out" at us for only offering 25k for their striker Matty Stevens. Banged in a few out on loan in non-league apparently.

Trying to spend a bit of the Doidge/Brown money then. Not sure he's worth it though, especially not given we have to deal with those twats. Another unproven kid to go with all the others we've signed.

I'm actually getting more confident in our recruitment team, seem to have more hits than misses and pleased to read we're offering sensible money that fucks them off. Presume we can take or leave?

We also have a massive catchment area which helps. Majority of Devon and big chunks of Dorset and Somerset.
