I agree. After last season and our form post Christmas I was pretty confident of us being in and around the play offs this season. Now I'm not so sure. Atleast 3/4 of the league will have similar aspirations.

Dempster actually wants to sign this Joe Quigley lad we've got on trial. He's impressed out in Portugal. I'd sooner us give Graham/Knowles game time than a 22 year old who's already had 12 clubs.

I suppose once JD made the decision to take him to Portugal we were never going to bin him off if he did well. I agree we don't really need a striker, someone in the club must see something in him though for us to take him on trial in the first place.

I'd give Quigley a chance if he does sign, I can't see him demanding a big wage so it's a low risk. A lot of our better players were uninspiring signings and vice versa.

Yep. Bradford, Plymouth, Scunny, Salford, Exeter, Mansfield, Colchester, Northampton, Swindon - all done decent business by the looks of it. Then you look at the lower/midtable teams from last season - ourselves, yourselves, Port Vale and Crawley have all improved in my opinion. I also had you down as dark horses to challenge for promotion but also like you, I think I'm revising that due to those teams listed above.

I'm actually getting more confident in our recruitment team, seem to have more hits than misses and pleased to read we're offering sensible money that fucks them off. Presume we can take or leave?

Yeah I agree we seem to be good at spotting young talents and developing them, and as Cooper, Hughes etc keep saying we're having to operate in a slightly different market to a lot of other league 2 clubs so as to not get involved in bidding wars. Probably why we bid so low here, but can't see this happening now. They wanted 250k apparently, which is a joke.

Don't mind us going for mainly youngsters as it makes financial sense what with sell on value etc, but at the same time it is pretty risky if we want to compete. So far this summer we've lost a lot of experience and only got in 3 older players, Smith who sat on the bench all season at the Gas, Mills as player coach who was playing in India and Dawson who was injured for most of last season and only played 10 games.

Probably going to have the youngest squad in the division, so it will be interesting to see if we can cope. Be a tough ask to replicate last season I reckon. Still looking forward to it though, reckon we'll play some good stuff as we certainly aren't going to be able to go more direct or physical given how lightweight we look on paper.

Latest one is that we're tracking Matthew Stevens at Peterborough. Would make sense with us having Vaughan, Donaldson and Doyle - can't see that we'd want to pay wages for all of them. Suggestions that Doyle still might be on his way to Swindon but we're holding off until we can guarantee a replacement.
