Rebuilding mid season isn't easy or cheap. Mansfield won't go up or down so could it be argued it might be sensible to wait for the summer and let the players who aren't taking the piss/bad for team spirit play for contracts until then?

We won’t be doing too much this month, imagine only a few will leave too - summer a different story.

Andrade apparently joined them because they matched his ambition.

Bull...

...shit

His ambition might be to earn as much as possible. In which case what he says is probably right, Salford are matching his ambition.

If they sign Grigg, Occy, Pearce etc then they could get a run at the play offs possibly?

Elliott is an odd one as he hasn't done much since Wimbledon, I was surprised they had a fairly quiet summer when everyone was expecting a Championship level squad to be built, maybe they under estimated the division?

Cant wait to see them in the Championship with 3000 fans (2000 when United are at home) and an hour queue to use the portaloo in the away end every half time.
That is a huge ask. Would almost take title winning form, 12 points off with just 19 to play is an almost impossible turn around i'd say.

Yeah, realistically they'd need at least 40 points from the last 19 games to squeeze into the play-offs you'd think - with that form they'd be four points clear at the top of the table by now.

Nah, the play offs are still in reach for them lot, though I reckon they'll fall just short in the end and finish around 10th place. Only reason I say it's still possible is that we (well, most of us anyway) agree on the league not being that strong this year, and only Swindon seem to be a cut above the rest, and to a lesser extent, Exeter.

But they do need to start winning games against the sides above them sharpish if they're serious about it. They're away to FGR on the weekend and that's a toughie. Of course, I'll be fully behind the vegans.

Askey picked up on this point when discussing the money we've made from Man City... one argument was that players are usually cheaper and you get better value for money if you wait until the summer so would only spent it now if we got decent value on right player.

Askey spent years having to wait until August before he could try and sign anyone for Macc, he won't know what the hell to do now he's got an actual budget!! He only understands best players being sold in Jan, god knows how he'll cope this month!

Similar to when Mark Marshall left ourselves, wanted to move nearer London.
Joined yourselves. Don't think geography was high up on footballers specialist subjects

Up there with Garry Thompson, as far as quality right-wingers were concerned.

We always did like to pinch players off you. Speaking of which, I wonder how Alex Jones is getting on North of the border. Injured is my guess.

And Billy Knott!

Jones has played 9 times and scored twice apparently. One of those who could of been a decent striker if he wasn’t made of spaghetti.

Sunderland fans think he’s pants.

Much the same as Bradford fans thought about Doyle.

Everyone wishes their club would sign Will Grigg, just so they can do the proper song.

We have tonight sold Jarrad Branthwaite to Everton.

Only 17 but he’s been our best defender. Another nail smashed into our relegation coffin.

It's been coming for a while, unsure why Beech has been claiming hes been unwell for so long though...

The fee ain't too bad, £1.7m + future appearances etc.

Wonder if Salford might try and hijack any deal for Eriksen from Spurs. I know Inter Milan are interested, but I can just see Christian resisting the lure of Serie A Instead, stating how it’s been a long term ambition to play for the plucky little Ammies.

We have two more points, you got a game in hand, and I am not worried (foolishness?) at all, different story if we had two relegation spots though.

Unless Macc go bust I could put my months wages on Graham Westley sinking "Pride. Passion. Ambition. It's in our DNA" (ironic flag they have) FC. The man is so washed up and their strikers couldn't strike a match let alone a ball. 15 goals scored in 26 league matches is appalling.

For what it’s worth, Oli McBurnie and Sheff United are almost definitely staying in the Premier League. A stay up clause alongside McBurnie’s appearances will activate a £2.5m add-on, straight into Swansea’s pocket - of which we’ll receive an additional £375k.

We sold him to Swansea for £350k. We have received circa £2.6m from the Swans so far. Projected return on McBurnie is £3.35m.

We overspent by £2m last season (not debt), but we should still be in a good position financially to strengthen this window/next season.

Wish Salford would wait to start signing all these top players until after the weekend. Gonna get torn a new one at this rate.

I can't see that happening. There are at least one if not more poorer teams than you. I doubt you will finish in the bottom three.

Quote directly from the manager

"Krystian was a tad unlucky to be left out because I've come in all guns blazing towards the skipper. I've had a good chat with him and I think we're on the same page. I'm looking to see a reaction now."

Hopefully it works out and we keep him here, way better than anything else we got at CB.

You definitely need him based on last Saturday. You're literally the only league 2 team in 3 years we've looked a threat from set pieces against.

No loan back option?
It was rumoured the first time Everton were interested, but hasn't been mentioned now so I doubt there's any loan-back as part of the deal. This doesn't necessarily mean he won't be loaned back, and I'd love for that to happen, with a couple weeks remaining of the transfer window (and I think loans can be completed for the week after that) there's a chance that once they get Branthwaite into their development squad they decide it might be best to loan him out after all.

I never really understand why these big clubs would much rather have their kids playing in meaningless development squad fixtures against similarly aged players, the majority of whom have never played a senior game in their lives; especially when they bring in someone like Branthwaite or other players poached from the lower leagues who have already shown themselves more than capable of going toe to toe with seasoned professionals. If Branthwaite's career progresses the same way most Premier League youths do (and he's only 17 now), then it could be four or five years before he plays his next senior game.

I would like to see a total root to tip reform of the entire youth development, transfer and loan systems, because currently it's broken. It lets down young players, it lets down lower-league clubs and it also lets down the development of home-grown internationals which the FA and EFL fucked the whole thing up to benefit in the first place.

Jake Cassidy joins Stevenage from Maidenhead for a five figure fee.

Unbelievable. Anonymous in most games in the NL. An average at best target man who offers nothing other than winning a few headers.

Not sure if Westley or anyone at Stevenage has watched him for the last few years.

Just here to echo Beebot's sentiments, he was fucking hopeless for us as well, half hearted journeyman lump, their lass has a better goal scoring record than him.

Congratulations to the shit at the bottom of L2, if Stevenage are banking on Cassidy to save them you're all safe.

What's your best guess of your team Saturday? Do you think there will be a lot of churn from last week, and will some have moved out the door?

A team representing the dwarf sports association would be a threat from set pieces against us
