O'Connor confirmed to Salford. Two excellent and eye-catching transfers for them from us this week - certainly better than Nathan Arnold and Matt Green who they've had off us previously.

O'Connor has been excellent for us, even in L1. Just sits there, breaks up play and pings balls around. Not the most mobile but positionally top notch so it's not really an issue (providing he's not in a flat 4-4-2).
Along with Anthony Grant he is the best midfielder to grace our team in the last decade.
Nice to see the move taking him back to his roots and where his family is from which is the reason he moved to Lincoln in the beginning :bl:

The rumours of the Mansfield clear out are rapidly heating up, a lot of players, including players that have been one of the best in their position at this level over the previous 2/3 seasons are likely to leave.
We’re linked with Mellis

Also Tom Pett at Lincoln

Some big names in this thread, who should be in L1 at the least. Doyle is a good player (who we can't afford), Grigg is over-rated (and we can't afford), Olomula looked decent enough in the Moose Cup when we played Carlisle and, weirdly, might be better in L1.

Jack Payne, though, is class...

Bradford just do not know how to play Doyle, and the trouble is if they change the way they play at the moment they could quite easily blow their promotion hope's.
They are paying him his wages, which are rumoured at 5 or 6 grand a week, to a player who will be free agent in 6 months, and blowing it....(sic), from what I've read we put in a decent offer for him!
We played Crawley a couple of months ago, Doyle hat trick, Bradford played them last weekend, Doyle has one sniff of a goal, and that's with them trying to change their way of playing. It really tells us a story!

In all fairness, Doyle had been in the building and trained 3 times with the squad before playing against Crawley - hardly the same. We won’t be playing through him like you lot did, so if he does stay, he’ll have to adjust or sit on the bench. Paying players large salaries is something we’re becoming accustomed to - Doyle isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last.

We have signed Alfie Beestin from Tadcaster Albion. He will join our u23's side but might move to our first team if he's any good. Remember him scoring against us the other year for Donny.

You sign players for your u23's side? Is it a whole separate squad or something?

Yeah pretty much, the manager is Russ Wilcox who was our manager the last time we were in this division. The idea is we sign players from non-league or when they are released from bigger clubs and we hope they will become a first teamer. It's worked so far with Jacob Bedeau who's played a few games and John McAtee who looks class. Both were free transfers.

A good, solid L2 player is Pett. A poor start here because he came in, in the January transfer window and struggled because a) it was a new team but b) the team was already pretty settled and he didn't get a run of games. Last season he was one of our best performers. Not box to box but a controlled influence in CM. Technically decent, good on the ball and chips in with the odd goal. Perhaps a little lightweight but not in the sense that he looks completely lost if it's a physical game, just that it's not his game and he'll not be able to compete to head a ball with guys who're 6'2" because he's a small lad.

I think Stevenage wanted him back and he had a good think about it because he's from down that neck of the woods but they look like they're going down.

Would have panned out different if Cowley had stayed. He also got injured in the final pre-season friendly game and was out for 3 months and ended up only playing once or twice. Not sure he's been in the squad for a good two months now. Not athletic or box to box enough for Appleton.

Agree about Pett, he is a decent player. Not very tall, physical or particularly quick but decent range of passing and will do a job in the central midfield for most sides IMO. Ex agent says Pett is looking likely to join Swindon.

I imagine the Lincoln side the Cowleys left a short while ago will look very different come the start of next season.

Salford after Grigg as well now. Be no point in turning up on Saturday against their all star xi at this rate.

Ollie Palmer linked with Vale on twitter... right type of striker for our system but he’s always looked useless whenever I have seen him play against us!

He is useless. Outstanding work rate and surprisingly quick. Scores goals as a result. But a terrible footballer.

Meanwhile, table-topping Rotherham have yet to decide whether to recall striker Jerry Yates from his loan spell but are leaning towards allowing him to remain with Swindon Town for the rest of the season.
"There has been no decision," Warne said. "I'm just chilling out and letting my mate, (Swindon boss) Richie Wellens, sweat a bit really!
Yates, 23, has hit the net 13 times in 28 Robins appearances despite spending much of his time on the wing.
Swindon are now using him as centre-forward following Eoin Doyle's recall in this month's transfer window by Bradford City.
"Jerry has been playing out of position, to a certain extent, and has still been scoring," Warne said. "Now he has the opportunity to play up front.
"If we needed him here I would pull him back. But I know that where he wants to be is there. I don't want to reluctantly pull him back and not use him. I can't do that to him. I just have to see how my team is over the next couple of weeks.
"There is less pressure on me to bring him back because our strikers are doing really well. They're scoring.
"If we were just outside the play-offs and hadn't scored for three games the pressure would be much greater. At this moment, I'm happy as it is."
Yates’ Rotherham contract is due to expire the summer but the Millers have an option to extend it by 12 months.

Let's hope Rotherham keep doing well then. He's a fans favourite here and is having a brilliant season.
