Such a important signing for Mansfield, one major problem (we had several) last season was our goalkeeping options - Conrad Logan, who was capable of a howler every game and Bobby who had a disastrous injury.

Marek Štěch is a clear and obvious improvement on what we had.

Didn't really work out for Logan here either, obviously got a good CV and good organiser/kicker but not that great a shot stopper, seemed to struggle a bit to dive. Conceded the first 9 shots on target he faced for us. Maybe a bit rusty and better then he showed, but doubt we'll sign him permanently.

He’s pretty poor, let’s be honest - he’s capable of a great save but will make two howlers in the next 15.

I’ve never known a keeper so incapable when it comes to coming off his line.

I’d have driven the fat bastard down to you given the chance!

One of the worst I’ve seen at Mansfield, I just couldn’t understand the amount of games he got for us.

A goalkeeper never coming off his line was always going to cause chaos. That no manager did anything about it either was really quite strange

In fairness Logan was Gordan Banks in comparison to Scott Shearer, Paddy Gamble, Jason White, Tim Sandercombe and Shane Redmond

Stech is a good signing, and definitely better then that £1m chump Luton signed last summer.

One of the best keepers to ever play for us was Steve Perrin. Well under 6ft and about 15st but brilliant shot stopper.

Logan is too fat. I know the fatter you are the more of the goal you fill but I still believe if he lost some weight he’d be a better goalkeeper.
try saying that on Stagsnet last season, upset them.

He isn't though. I'd be surprised if Sluga wasn't in the squad for Croatia for the Euros next summer considering his recent form.

How come? Not heard a rumour on this?

He and his mrs are good friends of me and my mrs!

Wasn't offered a contract extension down here, whilst I think it's fair for him to feel a touch hard done by as he played a part particularly early on in the season, I think it's a fair decision for the club moving up a league.

He had a clause where he automatically triggered an extra year on his contract if he started 20 games last season. He'd started 18 in the first half of the season or so and then found himself stuck on the bench.

Anyway his mrs is from Stoke and she's said as much as a promising conversation has been had with a club 10 minutes from their family up there. So that's me putting 2 and 2 together.

Any good? (without the bias of course!)

Signed him from Exeter more as a winger but with Adams/Lowe's systems not playing wingers he found himself up top more often than not. Good with the ball at his feet and an eye for goal but not an out and out poacher/run in behind striker. Links up pretty well in a 2 up top and has a decent work rate.

Could be Crewe maybe? Think he used to play for them.

Reading his Wikipedia page seems to be quite versatile in where he can play so would imagine that would appeal to JA as we’ve already got two good wingers.

Hopefully, they're in our group aren't they? Be surprised if they call up a league 1 goalie though. Blokes made his own xmas DVD's worth of bloopers this season. Here's a little taster.

Surely if you were that size as a professional GK you'd get on a treadmill. Fully accept it has little bearing to no bearing on ability to keep goal but it's a mentality and trust thing. If I can't trust you to stay in reasonable shape as a professional athlete how can I pick you?

We’ve got at least 4 more signings in the pipeline right now, not messing about.

Cue a Sluga mistake tonight :ffs:

All seriousness I agree he is definitely better but Sluga is going to have to work really hard to shake off those first few months he had with us, those kind of mistakes live longer in the memory than the performances he has put in if late unfortunately as Chris is showing here!

It was always inevitable we sign one or two/3/4 from GC old club.

It’s suddenly occurred to me that we could end up with Conrad Logan given his previous connections to our manager and the fact we released both of our goalkeepers. :ffs:
