Wrong again, we have a defacto salary cap for any new players of £2000p/week wages, and this lasts until the end of next season. We also CANNOT pay any transfer fee's for players. We have no debt, the £200m that keeps being quoted was owed to the previous owner Eddie Davies, who wrote the debt off, the new board and owners are cash rich, we just can't spend any of it on players. I'd go back to the people quoting the bollocks of £4000 a week for Eoin Doyle, and remind them that the EFL ratify and examine all of our player incomings, to ensure we stay within the rules they sey out
No, it's 4k per week. It's been confirmed by the same source ITK source that revealed the full fee Lincoln paid for Akinde.

It wasn't the bloke released by Northampton, it was a 20 year old defender called Kane Wilson from West Brom, who has spent time on loan at Exeter and Tranmere.

We seem to be building a young squad for next season, our four signings so far are 19, 20, 23 and 26 years old.
FFS. Many of us hoped we would have first dibs as he really impressed with us. I think we may be getting left behind.

Then the EFL will not ratify the transfer as it breaks their £2000/week ruling which lasts until end of next season. We'll see what happens

Well, some of your fans seem to think that £2k limit is now finished.

We were paying him more than that last season so I can’t imagine we’d offer him a salary that low.

Kane Wilson is a cracking player and easily League One standard. I am surprised he has dropped down to this level, which I presume is because FGR are paying him a relative fortune.

Unlikely. We've been very vocal about a salary cap and having released some of our higher earners are apparently building a team of kids. Average age of our current squad is 22.4 (18 players).

Since finishing 5th two years ago we've lost 7 mainstays of that team and replaced them mainly with unproven players or kids. Some have turned out pretty well, like Liam Kitching and Ebou Adams, but quite a few still have a lot to prove, our form was terrible post Christmas.

weren't Bradford part paying some of his salary?

Only until we signed him permanently in January. He was on £5k pw at Bradford and, honestly, I can’t see him going to you for less than we were paying him. Same for Sarcavic.

And I’m damn sure both Salford and Mansfield were offering more than £2k and it was reported they couldn’t match your offer.

If you’re right, though, that may be why the transfer has yet to be ratified.

Have a look at Nixon’s twitter site where I asked the question. Your fans and Nixon say there is no embargo.

Hahaha Nixon. He has got more wrong about my club then any journo. He used to be close to the club when coyle was involved, but is definately kept at arms length now. The last statement from the club and EFL said both transfer and wage embargo are until the end of next season, that is all I am going off BUT, the embargo is only regarding wages, we all know clubs can pay players above their standard wage, and get it classfied as something different, so I wonder if it something to do with that?

The embargo doesn't stop us paying signing fee's, that could be a reason

Agree with this assessment, he’s a little raw at times but has all the basics to develop into a quality player if he stays fit.

Interesting. I did wonder if we would be seeing some Championship players trickling down to this level due to cuts in the sizes of squads as a consequence of the pandemic and if you think you’ve not paid big bucks to get him, could prove a good investment.

Jeez, man. We got demoted 2 divisions for paying players outside their contract. If you’re cheating to get round the wage embargo you’re just asking for trouble. Signing on fees, goal bonuses, promotion bonuses are all part of a players ‘salary’.

You’re playing with fire, mate.

That is why I am doubting the figures, all our signings have to be cleaner than clean, the EFL are all over us still, so that £4000 figure doesn't compute. I'll ask my source at the club if we are still under the full embargo

This seems to be very much the case, but so far I think the quality of our signings looks pretty good, despite their youth...I was amazed that we managed to sign Cadden from Morton, whoever scouted him looks to have found a really good player, judging by the footage I have seen of him so far.

Difficult to tell how good they are, Cadden looks great on YouTube clips but not sure how good the Scottish Championship is? Sweeney looks decent but has only had one season in league 2 before and that was as part of a team that went down. Evans is a kid.

Wilson the most proven of the lot, but he's got big boots to fill replacing Sheps who imo was one of the best rb's in the league.

We've lost a lot of experience, we need one or two older heads in plus ideally Mills re-signing.

I agree with you about Shep, but he spent much of last season out injured and from memory (it was quite a few months ago) went off injured again during his first match back...I'm not sure if we would have seen much of him if he had stayed for next season. I'm not sure how good the Scottish Championship is either, in most of the highlights I have seen the pitches are dreadful...even the artificial ones...so it will be interesting to see how Cadden adjusts to playing on far better pitches, largely constructed from grass!

First credible transfer rumour I've heard regarding Barrow - ex-Carlisle midfielder Mike Jones. Seems to be mates with David Dunn and based in Manchester too.

Disappointing but we don’t know if Taylor was even in for him....Still hoping we can get a couple of players in that will improve us.

FGR have gotten a good player in Wilson and he’s only just 20 so he should develop into a very very good right back at this level.

Quality consistent reliable footballer for this level.

Slightly Disappointed we released him but I think our manager wants a more youthful energetic midfield

As expected Marvin Ekpiteta has left us and signed for Blackpool.

His head was clearly turned last summer, alot of our better players signed new deals but Marvin never did, rumours that we turned down offers for him from League One sides.

He was slow out of the blocks this season, but did improve as the season went on. He'll need to make sure he's fully switched on to suceed in League One. 23 and with alot of time to improve.

Couple of oil tankers at the back for us this season, then.

Wilson might just be happy to get a two year deal in the current climate. He is also from the Midlands, so you are relatively local to him.

How many season tickets have you sold and how much are they? I will calculate whether or not this is responsible spending.

Honest answer? No idea!

Seen someone quote around 6,000 the other week, but your guess is as good as anyone’s right now.

Not seen any figures mentioned. However, sales were suspended in April and many had not got around to renewing

We're apparenly looking at signing Jamille Matt, we need a targetman so not suprised to see his name linked with ourselves.

Having said that, most clubs in this League are also apparently looking at signing him.

Peter Hartley is rumoured, Captain of Motherwell. Some of our players started following him and quickly unfollowed.

So are we apparently but we really don’t need a target man with Bowman and Fisher already in the squad
