There seems to be a pool of wing-backs/full-backs available this off-season.

I hope so because I don't really rate ours..

Crawley had McFadzean's elder brother here for quite a while and he was great for us. We're further north than Argyle....not going to happen.

Gethin Jones is available too if he hasn't been mentioned yet, having turned down a contract extension with us. Key player in improving our performances so sure he'll find a home in L2 for next season.

Haydn White is (injury depending) potentially the best RWB in the division and he’s on a free. Still wish we kept him quite frankly because we need cover in the full/wing back role.

Jones is okay in a traditional full back role.

McFadzean is Sheffield I think? That’s where GC lives, it’s obviously very close to Mansfield and we could do with something in that position to compete with Mal Benning.

His goal scoring stats are impressive for a RB, has he been utilised at RW before?

Hayden White’s another one - good player. There’s the ex-Gills lad available, too.

Last season, we were defensively sound (at home); but our RB’s were the weakest link. If we can capture someone in the mould of any of the RB’s mentioned above and on past pages, I’ll be very happy.

On the topic of full-backs, our very own Connor Wood (LWB) is a bit of a talent - one to watch next season.

We're apparently due to announce the signing of Finn Azaz from WBA on loan. A 19 year old centre-midfileder who has been doing well in their U21 team.

We're also apparently close to signing permanently another midfield player (believed to be Sercombe), a left sided wing-back and a keeper as Scott Flinders is expected to be out until at least January.

I thought Iredale had a good game against us in the League Cup last season. Seemed to drop out of your team partway through the season, so may have been a one off...

Jones was probably below average for Mansfield at RWB, although that’s when White was injured and it was incredibly tough to replace him. Deffo more suited to RB.

Only problem with White is since he got snapped in half at Colchester season before last he’s not managed to get a decent run of games together.

RWB certainly, while he was with us we played him also on the right as a back three on occasion. Last season seems very blurry and unmemorable to me now. Either way he was the best crosser of the ball at the club.

Well, McCall has already come out and said that we’re going for quality over quantity; taking a risk on a crocked RB who would demand a fair wedge isn’t feasible.

He had a few good games but wasn't solid enough as a defender, similar to Pressley's other promising-looking signing at RWB, Christie Elliot. When we got Nick Anderton in Iredale was relegated to occasional attacking substitution.

White to return to Bolton? Or will Masi come along and say they don't need him because they have some 17 year old there who will be playing in the Premiership within two years.

I don’t think he’s crocked, just he needs to get playing again. I think it’s a risk worth taking.

He's had a few major injuries in his career though. He had a loan spell with us maybe five or six years ago that was cut short by a season-ending injury.

To be fair though his major injury at Mansfield was a absolute dreadful challenge, it’s not like he’s picking up injuries just through training.

He’s the fastest player I’ve ever seen at Mansfield, the lad could win the grand national.

Liam Sercombe will be a great signing for you. Very good player.

Really hope when COVID v2.0 kicks in the EFL don't bail out all this ridiculous and completely unbudgeted spending from what now seems like half the division. The teams like us that are doing things sensibly should be worried, but the truth of the matter is that at least two clubs won't survive the season so there won't be any relegation spots to worry about.

Odds on faves to go under have to be Bolton and Barrow. There should be some sort of North West governing body that can shut down all the joke clubs up that way that are seemingly incapable of running themselves. Absolutely absurd that the two from around there in this division doing it the correct way right now are Macc and Oldham (unless I've missed that even they've signed Omar Bogle and Steven Fletcher respectively or something).

Not at all
Evatt dont play with right backs in the traditional way...Three centre backs Taft, Delaney and it looks like the other could be Santos from Barnet. All6/5 6/6
We have Harry Brockbank who played the season we got relegated from the championship...injured most of last season
Right wing back is Politic Head and shoulders better than white at the same age.....though undoubtly white has come on

not sure where you get the Barrow bit from - but don't compare us to Bolton it's like chalk and cheese.... we're £325k up on transfers/compo this closed season already and will probably have one of the smallest budgets in the league.

Evatt starts with a back 4 and if he can't get that to work or hasn't got the right players he switches to 3 centre backs and wing backs - so don't be too sure that he won't start with a flat back 4.

we dont have any wing backs as yet....got Bunney on trial who is a lwb
We had Josh Emmanuel last season at rwb but it seems Evatt dont fancy him

If anyones looking for a rwb he is decent

You're one of the smallest clubs in the division, operating on a shoestring budget which is as yet unspecified...but you're already spending. Doesn't take a degree in rocket science to figure out that if football ends again in October you're pretty screwed.

It’s a bit boring being a Grimsby fan right now innit, how many do you lot need to bring in.

Loads, we're well down on numbers and will be starting the season with a mix of youth graduates, loanees and the few seniors we have still under contract. But at least we'll definitely have a club when the season after starts.

No you choose to ignore it because your club is also ran completely ludicrously.

I’ve actually deleted that and responded differently, I’m being nice.

Think we are well ran in nearly every department.

new training facility, academy constantly improving; stadium improvements, well ran commercially bringing more money than ever (excluding One Call) and now spending our money on youngish players with potential to make profit in the future (hopefully) so it’s actually quite a positive outlook, despite our obvious flaws in recent seasons that I’ve definitely not ignored btw, don’t be like that.

I best not fucking see a significant loss on Grimsby accounts ever again or you’re going in a NCA virtual safehouse.

I will just change my own personal ethos if that happens.

Mansfield definitely well ran in many ways, but you can't say every way because of your obscene wage budget...and horrendous PR.
