Wasn't Neville quite keen on the salary cap as well! Although they've got in early before it comes in.

I don't think it is that easy to buy your way out of the bottom division's, generally it seems more 50/50, Mansfield the past few seasons a good example, and Notts County, took Lincoln a couple of go's, Salford were very meh last season.

Problem is you are not realistically going to get Championship level players dropping so you end up with L1 level players mixed in with a few L2 level but the gap isn't that big between the two.

Sides that have generally done well have been clubs like Swindon, Crewe, Accrington, Cheltenham, Exeter, that have built on consistency. Two many ego's mixed in with players of this level probably isn't the best mix.

One problem is that the Crewe model takes years and years and years, which a lof of these rich owners can't be arsed with unfortunately. I personally found it really satisfying seeing Crewe go up this season, both in how they did it off the pitch and the manner in which they played on it and I wish more clubs could do this.

They're more of a Rushden and Diamonds, Crawley, Fleetwood mk4 (?), in my opinion. All three of those have proven how difficult that model is to sustain and get you up into the second tier. The fact that Fleetwood have now become somewhat more sustainable and are getting closer and closer is quite interesting though. It's one thing to get one of four automatic spots in League 2, but going toe to toe with the likes of Sunderland, Pompey, Ipswich, Cov and seasoned second and third tier yo-yo teams like Posh, Barnsley and Donny is an entirely different prospect. I obviously want Salford to crash and burn but when they do go up to League One it will be intriguing to see what their approach is. Location and potential fanbase could be a factor that those other three clubs mentioned did't have in their favour.

Do Salford/Bolton still need a striker? They are the only teams that can afford Maynard this season in L2 I imagine. unless he takes reduced terms.


Just looking at our squad, we need another CB, competition for Benning at LWB/LB, another midfielder and a striker only if Andy Cook leaves.

We have Doyle and Muhammadu Faal who scored 20 goals in 23 games last season for Enfield.

A few premier teams were after him but he ended up at Bolton.
Think Evatt will at least give him a chance in the pre season matches before bringing another forward in

They've already got a plan to up it 5,000 pretty easily when the time comes and with Gary Neville trying to get his fingers in the Manchester construction pie then you can imagine they're already looking into new stadium plans if they get to that stage.

Look at the demographic of Salford...It borders Manchester,Bolton and Bury.....They may pick up some shakers but as i said Salford is very staunch Man Utd. The only way they will get 5000 or even 4000 is to make the away end bigger

I've been Salford Quays, which I know isn't close but that area proves that money is being put into Salford and if they relocate somewhere around there it coud prove to be beneficial.

Even with that million subtracted, they still have a huge potential fanbase especially if relocation does/can happen. Not sure why this is even being debated.

Lincoln has a population lower than 100,000 and they've managed to pull about 5,000 extra fans into Sincil Bank every week off the back of a promotion and some superb PR. I think you're sorely underplaying the power momentum can have in attracting new fans. It's new fans we're talking about here too, not Wigan or Bolton fans - even though these fans probably will have to face the prospect of finding new clubs or supporting their imminent phoenix clubs at some point in the not too distant future.

well bloody annoying. Plans out the window, but in the grand scheme of things if it’s what needs to be done so be it.

Manchester has a very diverse culture, given the virus is higher in ethnic groups - mainly in areas like Oldham, Rochdale (as well as areas like Bradford) mainly it’s no surprise that it’s been implemented before eid this weekend.

That's the point I was making - how many fans they attract is irrelevant to how they progress. Lim, Neville, etc... don't care about getting fans in. They care about the status of running a football club.

Yes, Lim may well take his money and run, but we've been saying that about Pilley and Vince since they first started pumping into Fleetwood and FGR and they're still going strong.

Well yeah, if you're talking about facilities for away fans at the ground then BP is shite but we offer a nationally renowned cuisine and a seafront and loads of pubs so there are certainly worse away days than us - Mansfield being one of course. Our away end is also well up there in terms of acoustics if you pack it out too, but you wouldn't know about that!
