Caprice is a decent player at this level. He is a typical modern full back in that he is not great defensively, but is good going forward and very quick. He was good when we won promotion from this division a couple of years ago.

He was a bit out of his depth in League One last season but I would have been happy to keep hold of him.
Cheers.

We do like to use wing backs so perhaps he’d fit in well to our system. This rumour will probably have no basis but if it’s him then he sounds like a solid L2 signing

Oh boy where do I start with this one? I've watched us for nearly 20 years and if there's one player I've absolutely despised in that time it's him. And we've had a lot of bad players. I can accept not everyone will be good. But it's his own attitude and the rampant nepotism (which was obviously more his Dad rather than him) that means he's a comfortable winner over the likes of Darren Moss, Danny O'Donnell, Steven Schumacher, Anthony Elding or Marcus Haber.

You'd think I'm mad for slating a lad who played over 200 times for us, but if his Dad wasn't at the club he probably wouldn't have made a start. His elevation into the team was weird back in 2011, I think he had 2 substitute appearances in 2 years under his belt and we were absolutely skint and didn't sign a single outfielder after releasing half the squad. We released Chey Dunkley (who has since accumulated lots of Championship and League One experience) over him. Despite no credentials, we made him a regular and the staff celebrated him like a £200,000 signing. We played him fullback even though he was a centre half and he was largely disappointing. But then we found out he could take penalties better than most the squad so he did score some vital goals in our promotion season and, to his credit, he did improve. So the fans laid off him a bit.

In League One he got absolutely destroyed at Brentford in one of our first games at that level and, as his Dad was gaffer, he couldn't drop Harry so fans favourite Adam Dugdale bore the brunt and fell out of favour, even though it was Davis and £80,000 signing Mark Ellis who had shockers that day. Harry was moved to CB and actually worked well with Mark Ellis. But things went well for Steve Davis back then.

From August 2013-January 2017 though, the club was toxic. Harry was made our highest paid player (which was wrong), spent half the time injured and his replacements actually did a better job than him in a bad team. We signed Anthony Stewart for £50,000 from Wycombe who never got a chance, we then released him, he went back there and has been pivotal in their rise to the Championship, winning League One playoff final man of the match last month. We had Semi Ajayi (now Premier League bound) on loan in our relegation season who was outstanding. What happened? Harry came back, we were offered an extension to Ajayi's loan by Cardiff, Daddy rejected it to play his son. We went down with a whimper. Harry was, of course, injured towards the season's end and had an altercation with fans at Fleetwood away on the last day.

Going on strike when his Dad was sacked was the last straw. Dave Artell wanted him to remain part of the club, Harry downed tools and forced through a loan move to St Mirren. Grimsby fans probably have more positive things to say about him, and he scored for them against us on the final day of 2018-19 which boiled our piss I must admit. But I genuinely have nothing positive to say about him.

On a lighter note, it used to be Shrewsbury in the 2000s and Port Vale in the early-mid 2010s, but now Morecambe seems to be the home for our rejects these days. That's McCready, Leitch-Smith, Sutton, Lynch, Moss, Dugdale, Miller, Molyneux, Oliver, Oswell and the late Christian Mbulu I can think of off the top of my head last 10 years.

What’s he like? I do remember him keeping Randall Williams pretty quiet when you beat us the season before last...

The two players we’ve offered contracts to have verbally agreed deals but yet to sign, so hopefully will be done this week.

Another name mentioned was Yoann Zouma who was recently released by Bolton. Not too sure on that one as I get the feeling Taylor wants an experienced back line.

I'd agree with Moomin, solid L2 player. Has pace, probably best as a RWB rather than out and out RB and while he could be a bit nervy defensively, don't recall any major howlers. Weaknesses were distribution and while he could produce a peach of a cross, that didn't happen often enough. Like RLC, would have been happy if he'd stayed and if the rumour is correct, hope things work well for him at Exeter.

As Trinidad has said, you will get a more positive view from most Grimsby fans, although it’s not difficult to be more positive than that assassination!!

He did ok in his 2 years with us. Nothing spectacular but at this level a solid player who has a habit of scoring every now and again.
I wouldn’t have minded if we had offered him a new contract but club policy was not to do that for anyone due to Covid, although rumour was he was looking to move back to the North West anyway.

Still a few rumours floating around up here on new players;-

Ryan Croasdale (AFC Fylde) looks like he has signed - but not been announced yet.
Jamie Barjonas from Glasgow Rangers is rumoured to be someone we want on loan,
Humphrys (Southend) and/or Andy Cook being looked at as another striking option.
and 2 as yet un-named loanees 1 from Everton U-23 and 1 from Blackburn U-23.

If you’ve got a solid central defensive pairing then he’ll be good for you at this level! He’s fast and goes past players but his final ball in is not usually that great.
Over all he’s done well for us and I will be sorry to see him go!

Sido Jombati signed. Havnt got a clue about him any Cheltenham or Wycombe fans tell me anything

Been a long time since I've seen Sido play, so Wycombe fans will be better placed.

With us he was a decent right back but he had to be coached through games by whoever was playing right centre-back. Alan Bennett did this brilliantly with him. When Benno was sold, Jombati's form fell off a cliff for a while.

Seems to have done well at Wycombe though.

Yeah few lads I know saw him out in the pubs in Nantwich yesterday. Honestly thought he was going to end up in non league though at somewhere like Stockport or Wrexham.

On a related note, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see one of the mid-table/lower Northern L2 clubs like Grimsby, Scunthorpe or Morecambe be in for Paul Green this Summer. Still will do a job at L2 level and is Pontefract based. Far too good for non league despite his age.

I’d expect us to start announcing signings tomorrow.

No idea what to expect. There are so many rumours, some ridiculous that we’ve no chance of getting, some I’ve never heard of.

We’ll see.

Surely a busy few days to get the bigger names across the line before the salary cap deadline kicks in.

Can't say I've ever heard of Gribbin myself. I might have to put a chemical mask on and delve into MajesticMartial and ClincialRashford type twitter accounts to get an idea.

According to those sorts, we've just signed the new Messi. Apparently he's dead good on Football Manager.

Borthwick Jackson didn't impress on loan for us, rumoured he failed the attitude test. Did he do any better for you?

It’s suddenly occurred to me that we could end up with Conrad Logan given his previous connections to our manager and the fact we released both of our goalkeepers. :ffs:

It’s happening. For fuck sake:sad:

Harry Davis signs a 1 year deal. Grimsby fans? I seem to remember Crewe fans saying he's crap, has he improved?
He’s alright. Not great, not crap either. Probably better in the opposition box than your own though. Actually not bad at RB tbh.

Think we might be making a signing today... usually the case with these cryptic tweets which usually contain some sideways clue to the identity of the signing. Honestly I find the way our media team handle these things incredibly tiresome because they make a massive build up, then sign some 19 year old on loan from Reading.

Could be wrong, but is that Macaulay Culkin? If so maybe we're re-sigining Macaulay Gillesphey

played a pre season game Saturday 10 trialist played including Alex Baptiste,Joe Bunney,Jak Hickman and Ricardo Santos.
All played half a game.
Billy Crillen was in goal so it looks like a loan deal has been done for him from Fleetwood.

Crellin was very poor for Chorley against us this season.

I'm fairly sure that's a girl in that gif so it isn't Macaulay Culkin

Dino Visser is at training today so one of the trialist keepers, seems happy being a number 2 which is what we need as back up for Scotty Brown.

Yes a strange one ..Would only be a loan arrangement. I cannot see him being our number 1
We already have a young keeper Matty Alaxander who i had hoped to be at least on the bench next season
