Frank Nouble joins PAFC. Col U fans, thoughts?

Just an average League Two forward really. Big and strong, so he's good at holding off a defender, usually by backing into them. Wants to play centrally but isn't good enough so gets put out wide instead where he loves a step over or two. He's often found offside through a lack of concentration when you wouldn't expect him to be i.e. not because he's trying to play off the shoulder of the last man or anything like that.

He doesn't score anywhere near enough goals and his finishing is suspect, but every now and then he'll smash in a belter. Surprised he's moving to League One to be honest.

Cheers mate. He’ll only be an option off the bench I suspect, but he offers some physicality and something a bit different compared to our smaller strikers.

From an away fans perspective I always hated seeing Nouble in the starting line up for the opposition. He always did well against us...Im not checking the stats just my memory.

Obviously Colchester fans know him better but I'm happy not to see him next season.

We’ve signed Ronald McDonald on a 2 year deal.

28yo center back, released by Wimbledon.

Scored 5 at our ground in 2 games, more then any of our players managed all season.

Is he out of contract?
Yeah. Feel like FGR are too far south for him, seems to be a real homebody as fans of clubs he's played for in the South and Midlands always end up saying he has an attitude problem but then he does really well whenever he plays in the North. Culminated in him signing on loan last summer for Gillingham only to ask for the loan to be cut short before the season began.

Lewwis Spence was a cm that played for us on loan from Wycombe in 09-10. Is it the same one? If it is I'm surprised he got as high as the SPL.

Wwe had him on load from Rushden in 2011. Currently at Hornchurch

Rumours of a loan

There's been no mention of a loan yet at this end but it seems likley he will go somewhere to continue his progress.
Warne gave him a new contract to the summer of 2022 so clearly thinks he can have a future at the club.
There were nothing but good reports from Gateshead and Carlisle and he always looks a real handful in pre-season games.
He is not like Jerry Yates, he is more of a strong running, powerful lad.
Carlisle fans are the only ones to have seen him play in a league game, they will be better placed to judge if he can make it in League 1.

Can probably manage the step up. Wish we'd had him the first half of the season.

Callum Roberts, Notts County winger - Us, Mansfield and Hartlepool looking at him according to someone on our forum who ‘works with his Dad’.

every Hartlepool fan on here will tell you they have no chance of getting him as they'd have to shell out a lot of cash.

To be fair, due to injuries and then the premature end to the season, he only played a few games for us, but he did look good in those games. Hard to say whether he’s ready for League 1 based on just a handful of apps. Maybe another 6 months or a season in League 2 where he’d definitely be a starter would be more beneficial.

We missed our chance with Roberts when he was at Blyth up the road, cross us off that rumour, unless we’ve just cleaned under the couch cushions we’re skint.

I suppose as we managed to turn Yates into a saleable asset for you, we’d probably be first port of call for him. If, indeed, there is anything in it at all.

Carlisle are about to announce a signing. Likely to be Gavin Reilly given the clubs Gavin & Stacey themed GIF.

Reminded me of the Blackadder quote about the great Universities, Cambridge, Oxford and Hull

Liam Sercombe signs for Cheltenham.

Quality signing - should be one of the best midfielders in L2

Excellent signing for Cheltenham I’d say. I think he could have been a good player in L1 so Cheltenham should be very happy with this signing

George Williams on trial at Swindon apparently.

Good luck to him, if he could stay fit he's international class.

Very happy with that - he's come in saying the right things as well. He's come here for a promotion battle. There's a little concern among the fans that we may have a bit of a playoff hangover. With Duff in charge though, I just don't see it.
