We have got nine senior players contracted and the core of our squad is pretty strong at this level, so I don't think that will happen. In the current climate there will still be plenty of free agents available close to the opening game.

Well Morecambe's lot on here are a pretty placid bunch and half the time you and HG fight each other about promotion/relegation prospects - so we need to argue with someone...
As for Bolton - before this closed season we didn't have anything against them... but the behaviour of Bolton, Evatt and largely Evatt's agent behind the scenes changed that. If you then add the arrogance/ignorance of a section of their fans....
As for the season - as i've said Evatt may succeed and take them up - or he may fail and take them down especially if they end up with points deductions for one reason or another.

I think Mark is operating under the premise that there won’t be much in the way of extra funding to help with the pandemic from either inside football or the government and that most L1/2 sides get their main income from spectators. If significant money did become available then would need to re-evaluate. Also Mark is doubtful the 12/09 re-start will happen. From what he said it doesn’t sound like there is much leadership coming from the EFL.

There is validity in the points that both masi51 and RLC make. There is a strong nucleus to our squad, but it’s right that if we’re waiting until the season has a confirmed start that will definitely happen, then unlikely last minute signings of whatever quality will bed in straight away. Personally I’d like to see us bring in enough players to be able to put out a starting xi and fill the bench (assuming 3 sub spots are taken by the first year pros) in the short term.

We’ve agreed a deal with Aston Villa to sell our 16 year old midfielder, Ben Chrisene. The fee is rumoured to be £500k plus add ons, which is invaluable at the moment...

It’s a shame though that we couldn’t get yet another player to sign a pro deal. He made his debut aged 15 which was a smart move to try and tempt him to sign, but no joy.

Also, with Brentford failing to go up, we’re all hoping Ollie Watkins Is signed this summer after scoring so many. Plenty of teams linked with him and if he goes for big bucks we will bank a huge amount from our 20% sell on clause.
