Be a massive blow to lose Lewis so close to the season starting. Don't think we could get a good enough replacement in to be honest. When asked a month or so ago about Lewis, Ryan Sparks (twat) said that no offers had come in for Lewis at the moment. Anyone with any sense would have said he isn't for sale.

Wouldn't get anywhere near seven figures, not for a keeper. With it being Barnsley we may get seven fingers. Don't think it's happening though. Think it's just a shit rumour.

Sparks’ simply cannot win here. Of course Lewis is for sale, just like every player outside the elite clubs in football.

If he made a comment along the lines of ‘No bids as of yet, but it doesn’t matter cos we ain’t selling him’, then someone comes in with an offer we can’t refuse and he goes against his word - how does that make him look.

One things for certain, we won’t let him go for nothing. So if he is going, it’ll be a deal worth at least a £1m - but I honestly dont think he’s worth that - yet.

Some rumours surfacing of another potential signing. No names yet although our resident ITK has described it as a 'massive curveball', which could mean anything.

Nice to see we are finally lumbering into action on the transfers front. Anyone signing much later will miss out on the USA trip.

Sparks will roll over and sell if he's offered 50p.

Genuinely interested to know why you think this would be the case.

Has he let players leave for nothing before?

James Vaughan? He bent over for Tranmere and the player after playing billy big bollocks in the press saying something along the lines of he wouldn't leave unless a significant fee was received.

Pretty sure we only got pennies for Eoin Doyle too. The top scorer in Europe at the time by the way.

Even Canavan was a free I think and he was your captain when you let him join us.*

* I think both clubs probably knew Matty Platt was going the other way in the summer though

That's more to do with Canavan telling Adams to fuck off and that he'd never play for him again. Always liked Canavan.

I’d you sell him for that cheap then surely Sparks will fly?

We were linked with Will Boyle.

If we really wanted him, he'd be here. I'm confident about that.
Mmm so he came from Huddersfield which is virtually Bradford so Firthy is this guy any good?

We’re being linked with ex Scunthorpe and Middlesbrough keeper Luke Daniels. 35 and hasn’t played much these last few years, but seemed pretty well liked by Boro fans when he did play a few games a couple of years back. Had offers from other Championship clubs to go there as no.2 but wants to go somewhere he’ll be no.1 apparently.

Would be a good signing I reckon. We definitely need an experienced keeper.

Two players in 5 years, then.

Vaughan and Doyle, put simply, didn’t want to play for this club. We welcomed Doyle back after his loan deal ended and he didn’t fit our system - evident for all to see. We didn’t sell him, just agreed to cancel his contract, which was worth a couple hundred grand.

Vaughan didn’t want to travel from Wirral daily. Both parties are at fault here, but I don’t think the Doyle situation helped this either.

It comes down to cost Vs productivity. Both players didn’t want to be here. What does Sparks do, just continue to pay them £4K+ per week when they can’t be arsed? How does this then affect the dressing room?

Better due diligence was needed before signing Vaughan, admittedly. But getting rid was the right call.

Luca Ashby-Hammond signs on a season long loan from Fulham u23 .

Keeper who was at Aldershot last year. Played most of the games and has a good reputation.

Deji Sotona signed on a two year deal, pace on both wings now something we’ve lacked for years

We had him at the other end of his career on loan from WBA and he was promising back then. Seems to have been off the radar recently,

2 bids rejected for Lewis, presumably from Barnsley. Apparently they had a deadline to submit a proper offer but that's now expired. Not sure the deadline means a lot as if they were to return with an increased bid, we'd probably accept it.

They offered £75k which was some way short of Bradford’s valuation of £5m.

Crawley have signed Klaidi Lolos. A striker from Oxford City on a 2 year deal. Can't say I know anything a out him apart from the stats.

Played 36 times in National South and scored 16 goals as Oxford City got promoted last season. That means we've nicked their centre back and centre forward now.

It does say he played 12 times for Plymouth Argyll in league one but probably all off the bench.
