No way near. We're 5th highest apparently. The league tell you your placement but not the clubs. I had the 4 above us to be Wrexham, Mansfield, Gillingham and Salford. We might be 6th now with this 2 month bender Notts County have just embarked on.
MK Dons are most definitely top five.

Amazing how much managers know about other teams' budgets innit.

Stockport probably the most defensive on the subject. They start crying when you say Nick Powell and Paddy Madden are playing for anything more than the love of the game.

We're obviously top 3, MK Dons I'd wager are top. Mo Eisa will be on a shed ton.

I'm going guess Wrexham are clear at the top and have been defensive about it for so long now that they have almost completely shut up shop.

After them it will the expected suspects:
MK, Notts, Stockport, Mansfield, Gills and amusingly Bradford in whatever order you want to guess.

We must be guaranteed Top 5 cos of the known quality brought in and that Langstaff fella's fully justified pay rise.

Shrewd free transfers like Paul Mullin and Elliott Lee show there's value to be had out there.

Nobody wanted them and we gave them a place to call home.

Don't forget to add George Evans as a freebie too, absolute class player.

Like many a club and player they needed to make the National League their temporary home to reset and then relaunch their careers.

No better place in the Non League football to do that than Wrexham.

We are most likely 7th or 8th, doubt we are above any of them and certainly not above Salford they literally out bid us for Watt by a comfortable margin. Two year ago we were outbid for Zanzala at Barrow so I think our finances are some what overstated. It was found out last week we spend 35% of our turnover on playing budget when you’re allowed up to 55%, and I bet most hover a lot closer to that mark than our mr sensible and sustainable owner, who’s not put a penny in since Covid.

Okonkwo on loan as well. Spine of the team cost precisely nothing. Clubs could learn a lot from our frugality.
A great shout, these massive freebie signings and paying absolutely peanuts is making the club spend way under the budget we have. FFP, pah! Don't make me laugh

Are you not paying his wages? Still great business, but would be surprised if you weren't.

No idea what position we come in at on the list but our highest earner is on 6k. Frightening at this level really, In my football manager 2007 days I swear I had Mickey Boulding the league two R9 on about £850!

I'd imagine at least a couple of the teams coming down from L1 would still be carrying bigger contracts from that level. MK Dons for sure. FGR? did they keep their squad together ?

Us, Stockport, MK Dons, Gillingham and Salford are my guess for the top 5. Notts and Bradford not far off.

Our players are on huge contracts . . .

. . . We just don’t pay them, though

Ryan Sparks was interviewed today and when asked about any incomings in Jan he said we'll have another striker and we all know who that is. I think we'll probably end up selling Young.

Our League 1 squad (in as much as we had one - the amount of utterly pointless and self-defeating transfer activity we undertook in January was insane and a case of pissing money up the wall: there was next to no continuity between the teams either side of that window) was obviously 75% utterly shite. We're kept the few good parts of it, and one of the bad, but expensive, parts of it remains contracted to us but on loan to Dundee. Our mistake (or one of them) was trying to play third tier footy without third tier players.

I took that to mean we will be recalling him for ourselves and not to sell.

If you didn't think this was Young, who did you think it was? Or do you mean you think he'll recall Young and then sell him. I guess that they will definitely want to sell one striker, probably more. I don't think Derbyshire is going to get much football. Vadaine Oliver has had a lot of injuries, but will probably welcome a fresh start, but including the loanees we have way too many forwards. Tulloch might go back to WBA and try to find another loan where he's playing more.
The only thing is that I think Young is an out and out striker, as is Cook, so it rather depends whether Alexander wants to play with 2 strikers. I think that would be quite sensible, and I don't think tactics where you have Cook up front on his own trying to make things happen work.
Anyway Alexander has made it clear that he doesn't intend to depend on Cook for goals, so whatever tactics he goes for, it's not going to be just wingers lobbing it into the box for Cook.

I meant I think we'll recall him and maybe sell him. I think he's different to everyone else we have up top so who knows.

Birmingham apparently after Lee. I smell bullshit and Lee has already said he wants to stay at Wrexham...

I think J'Neill Bennett played for our under-21s in midweek. Would be an interesting one, was on loan to us from Spurs in our 2021/22 League One relegation season and looked good for his first couple of games and then got dragged down to the level of the rest of our terrible team. Then he got injured in November 2021 and hasn't played a competitive game for anyone since. I'm guessing he'd be fairly cheap and could potentially be a decent squad option if he's hungry to get back in to the game.

Williams Kokolo signed on a short term deal until January. Not sure if he was actually signed before 12 yesterday to make him available for today

Hard pass. Would rather we keep our powder dry for January when we can look at some better targets. We've snagged Agyei and Nevitt(plus Sambou and Amoo, but let's not talk about them) in the previous 2 January's, so save the money and wait to see what becomes available when the window opens.

Which good Barrow players can easily be poached in January?

We need attacking players.
