Why is it baffling?

We have signed GOOD players from L2 who are good enough for L1. Peterborough are 3rd in L1 and many of their players were signed from below L1.

Going by your logic, you will have to get rid of all your players in the summer because they are L2 players and won't be able to keep you in L1 if you go up??

You're the baffling one.
Absolutely TRIGGERED.

You know I'm right. That's why you're upset pal. I wanted you to stay up. Players like Armstrong and Neal are decent L2 players.

Yes we'd need a fair few players if we were to go up to League One. It's a decent sized step up.

I'm not upset, I was just annoyed at how ridiculous your comment about signing L2 players was.

We are struggling because we were not ready for L1 and we had no money to recruit in the summer so a lot of our team is still full of shit, however our new signings have looked good but we obviously need more.

You'll do allright in L1, better than us anyway haha.

Can't see that Langstaff fella who's currently League Two's top scorer heading to Carlisle United FC any time ever.

We're not interested in him but by all accounts you're an easy club to poach staff and players off so we should try.

Phew! But tbh I can't imagine he'd be keen to join a club currently 23rd in League One and on the slide.

It's only easy if you pay a significant remuneration in exchange for the poached player or staff member.

There's plenty of other strikers out there who are cheaper and good enough, we're not looking to splash out loads of money on someone like Langstaff who is valued way above what he's actually worth.

Wrexham will do stuff like that, but not us because we are thinking long term for the next 10 years and beyond whereas they just want to throw everything at making it to the Premier league in the next 3 years which will end in the extinction of their club once their owners lose interest.

There are definitely loads more cheaper strikers, that's for sure. I hope someone pays more than he's worth. That would be marvellous.

The question is , is good enough really good enough under your new existing owners? You won't find better at L2 level.

We are in for Orsi and Crocombe; or rather the Fishy is fantasising about getting back players that Hurst let go thus causing all of our current ills…

Oil money Wetsum. Living rent free in Carlisle fans heads since we bought Aaron Hayden.

No not anymore, not since we bought Armstrong. :smug:

He really could have been a great club legend for you and a big upgrade on Mullin, but it wasn't to be..

A big upgrade on Mullin. Lol

I was quite happy with the prospect of signing Armstrong, I think he's a good player. Wasn't too happy on the price though. He deserved better than Harrogate so good luck to the lad getting a move to L1.

I like Armstrong but he needs chances. Don't think his overall game is great. He comes alive in the box. How much are Carlisle creating?

Some of our fans seem to think we may be interested in Josh Gordon from Burton.

BarraMatt Monkey Tennis any other Barra, Courtney Duffus any good these days? Supposedly signing for Pools, not sure if it was loan or permanent.

We only really have pre-season to go off and a couple of Pizza Cup run-outs that nobody saw. I remember saying after a few friendlies that he would be on loan in the Conference North by the end of the season. He’d effectively be about seventh choice striker (and our forwards have struggled for goals) - I think he’s even missed out on a place on the bench to one of our youth team strikers.

In short, Wild clearly doesn’t think much of him and is desperate to get his wages off the books.

He’s been as extinct as a dodo this season after leaving us.
Back to you guys would be a surprise.....surely he’s done nothing to warrant another round with you. ?
I don’t think any Burton fans are singing his praise.

We were after him last January mate you wouldn't let him go I know that for a fact sadler likes strikers who run a lot and press and close down defenders quickly personally I'd rather look at someone else he was crap in his last season here.

Calum Johnson out for 10 weeks and Rhys Oates is done for a long while so we need to get moving. Johnson started to hit top form so it’s a big miss, but we got decent depth at full back, even with missing Hewitt all season.

Considering we are down to two strikers, Akins who usually cannot hit a barn door and Swan who is partly out of form and also not given enough game time to find form. So we desperately need to sign a striker, might also be worth considering playing Bowery back upfront too, if we can afford to move him out from full back still.

He suffered a bad facial injury when Knoyle nearly took his head off with a challenge in the away game at Stockport early in the season and has struggled to get near the 1st 11 since. Will probably do alright at conference level - he did previously with Yeovil.

Not seen it mentioned yet but we've signed Stephen Wearne from Gateshead for about £60-80k.

Also looks like Craig MacGillivray is on his way to League 1 with Stevenage, turning down Carlisle. Makes sense, he's more of a Graham Alexander keeper than a Mike Williamson one and bar the Crawley game the other week and one or two others he hasn't exactly been brilliant.

I liked the look of Wearne when he was here but unfortunately Hurst liked his wingers to double up as full backs and Wearne just didn't seem like that sort of player. Even so, he was given a ridiculously low amount of chances. Despite this, he chose to come back and fight for a place after a decent loan spell at Torquay (?) midway through last season when he was basically told he was surplus to requirements. Seemed a bit lightweight from what I remember but was clever and tricky. Williamson obviously knows how to use him from his time at Gateshead, so I'd be pleased with this signing if I was an MKD fan. Fully expecting Weane to be a case of someone who slipped through our fingers.

He'd probably just be cover as our two main forwards are injured for the next month

Bradford have apparently turned down a bid from us for Jake Young.

They think he is worth more than what was offered and yet it sounds as if he is not wanting to play for them.

Never really looked a goal threat, but difficult to judge either way given he's had a bad injury or two in recent seasons. He hasn't been in our squad for league games for a few months, I imagine we'll loan him out and then release at the end of the season, will still be needed for cover if somehow things get desperate.

Looks like Johnson Clarke Harris is about to sign for Charlton so that's another striker Wrexham have missed out on, because they desperately need a striker for some reason? Instead of a better defence.
