Wrexham looked pretty well primed to win the division to me. A near shoe in for automatics. I don't see why they'd need to panic tbh. They may be able to attract a better, younger player that gives them more for their money in the summer.

Probably just their deluded fans, strikers are something to get more excited about than any other position.

None of us are panicking. Speculation and panic aren't one and the same.

I wouldn't be surprised if we did make an approach for JCH but there's a lot of criteria at play before we sign a player, and despite what some may believe we rarely ever overpay, which is why we've let the Armstrong transfer go.

We're likely to sign a striker, but if we don't it isn't going to kill our season off. Losing Okonkwo might leave us weak in goal though. I'd call it a great window if we just signed him tbh.

Just saying you guys were an admin error away from the ultimate overpaying when it came to Armstrong.

Bradford have apparently turned down a bid from us for Jake Young.

They think he is worth more than what was offered and yet it sounds as if he is not wanting to play for them.
If you go back in with an increased bid then Bradford will have well and truly mugged you off.

I assume you're referring solely to transfer fees here and not wages?

Looks like Johnson Clarke Harris is about to sign for Charlton so that's another striker Wrexham have missed out on, because they desperately need a striker for some reason? Instead of a better defence.

Our defence is fine, despite the fact we've got three first choice CBs out injured. We've conceded less than Carlisle this year.

Once we brought a proper keeper in our goal against column makes much better reading.

We will ultimately need an upgrade in our strikers (Mullin excluded) , but tbh I'm fairly secure in who we have right now if we wait until the summer.

Agree with that but thankfully it fell through so point still stands!

Or you can just play Billy Waters.... or tell Carlisle how many goals he scored for Barrow last season and they'll probably offer you £500K for Waters

You don't need to upgrade your strikers because someone on your forum claims that Elliot Lee would be the best player in L1 and Mullin will be a nightmare for L1 defences.

If anyone pays the asking price for Young then he’s off, I don’t think anyone thinks otherwise. If we can make some money off someone who’s played ten(?) games for us, is known for his inconsistency, had one purple patch of a few months having been at four different clubs and doesn’t apparently want to be here, I’d be very happy with that.

They told Young about Carlisle’s interest but he said he’d rather go to Wrexham instead.

We've signed 20 year old Preston midfielder Lewis Leigh on loan. Looks like a tidy, ball playing CM which we badly need more of. The worry is this is the precursor to losing Joe White, as rumours around his future continue to circulate. I doubt, with Joel Tabiner and Matus Holicek coming back shortly(fingers crossed they do anyway), that we are going to run with 4 CMs under the age of 20 and Conor Thomas. I would expect White to go back to Newcastle and hopefully we find the budget to sign another experienced option in there.

We've signed Archie Mair (GK) and Gwion Edwards (Winger) so far, whilst we're losing all our loanees, so will be down to the bare bones by the end of today probably!

We've lost our Manager, Assistant and Head of Recruitment in the space of a month and then hired an inexperienced new gaffer. Ged has a big task on his hands and sounds like he's running around doing everything himself behind the scenes.

Cleary our dire ownership situation is hitting us hard now and I'd take staying up as a target for the rest of the campaign. It's sad to see how much we've regressed in the last 3 months. One normal campaign is all I ask for!

Will be gutted if we end up losing White, but today's signing looks like a replacement. The Preston lad seems decent very good reviews from his loan spell at Bromley that he's just been recalled from. But losing White will hurt as he's levels above. Especially if he goes to Stockport, if he's recalled I hope he goes to a higher division.

Might not be happening as we are apparently recalling Lemonheigh-Evans from Wimbledon. I agree it would be a strange move for Newcastle to cancel/not extend the loan to move him to another league 2 club, especially if there is interest on your end to renew.

Realistically the only thing we can offer 'more' is better training facilities and loan fees. But I don't think a club like Newcastle should be factoring in cost of wages/fees when it comes to player development..

He did well overall, kept Rawson out the side which surprised a few but he deserved his spot. Most fans are sad to see him go including myself.

Hopefully he can step up, it would be annoying if he can't and he signs for another League 2 side next season, instead of us.

It's not like White wouldn't get games with us if he's to fill Bailey's shoes, Odin played almost every game

Apparently us and Exeter looking to bid for Jake Young reported by Alan Nixon. Seems he had a good first half of the season but L2 is always littered with these players who have unbelievable scoring streaks one season. We had it with Pope years back and more recently Dom Telford had one and never replicated since so am a little wary.

Jake Young was one of the worst players I’ve seen play for Barrow - just nothing at all about him and can’t remember him having more than a few touches per game. Records suggest this is more representative of him than his time at Swindon.

He may have a good record this season but I’d bet my house on him being terrible for whoever he signs for this January.

I've seen a couple of Rumours our end regarding Sam Dalby from you in the last week or so not heard anything in the last few days however so probably nonsense.

Yep. Just securing Okonkwo would be a dream window, he's the difference between us going up automatically and ending up scrambling to get into the playoffs. Hopefully club pull out all the stops to get him.

We don't need anyone desperately but a CB will need to come in probably as there's no sign of any of the injured ones coming back.

So are we saying that Young is basically shit then? It’d be just like us to smash our transfer record on someone who’s a total flop!

Wonder what Bradford would want for him? If it’s north of £200k, I can’t see us getting near to that.

I remember just before he went to Sturm Graz last season after leaving us that Okonkwo was definitely on Bristol City's radar.

They want a new keeper this window and have just missed out on James Beadle, who we also had, to Sheffield Wednesday. With Manning having him at Oxford, I'd assume Beadle was his first choice so they may well go back to looking at signing Okonkwo now and you'd imagine they'd have the funds to secure him on a permanent too.

I'll drive him to Walsall myself.

Link up play decent every other game but is yet to score a goal in the league this season.
