Couple of little whisperings that we could be taking Jake Bickerstaff from Wrexham. I know he’s been a bit part player there to put it mildly, but any views from EnglishRed or other Wrexham fans on the type of player he is would be good.

Charlie Wyke has pretty much let slip that we’re signing Jordan Jones from Wigan.

I’d be really pleased with this if it happens. He’d add some much needed quality in the wide attacking areas.

We are signing Cameron Antwi from Cardiff, he will have a medical this week, he will be our ninth signing all under 23 years old and all on 2 year contracts.

Huw Jenkins said no more L1 & L2 journeymen and it looks like he's keeping his word, now i would like to see 3 or 4 loanees with a bit of experience after all did'nt someone once say you win feck all with kids.

Someone on our forum saying that one of our strikers is off to Carlisle. No idea on what basis or who. Could feasibly be Waters, or Dalby or Bickerstaff.

It's Paul Mullin.

Sorry, but when a BIGGER and BETTER club comes along there's nothing you can do.

As I’ve mentioned above, it’s Jake Bickerstaff apparently.

Another quality L1 player, I would have expected nothing less. :cool1:

So that will be two we’ve got. (Assuming Jones signs)

Just the 15+ players away from being this top half league 1 squad you claim us to be.

Genuine question, but if Carver winds you up this much where you feel the need to correct him / berate him constantly, why don’t you just block him?

Most of us can see many of his posts are bait / tongue in cheek so obviously don’t take anything he says seriously, but he seems to really piss you off. Just block him, you’ll be much happier for it.

Getting quite boring watching you two go at it on pretty much every thread, it’s worse than the Halifax BEEF on the other forum (takes some doing that)

It’s a shame you didn’t sign quality L1 players when you were actually in L1 really.

Well we simply didn't have the time and resources to do that last season, but now we have and we're really having a go at it.

It's a shame you can only ever dream of having ambitious wealthy owners like ours for whichever unknown dilapidated dump of a club it is who you support, of which name I have no care of ever finding out as we won't be in this poxy little league for very long.

Vale fans, we've been linked with Sammie Robinson, a young right back who played some part of your promotion winning season I think. I read he was subsequently released and was last playing for Kidderminster in conference North. Still only 22 so wonder if Kennedy reckons he can get a tune out of him. (Think he coached him at Man City academy)

He only came off the bench once for us in the promotion season, other than that was an unused sub but played a bit in L1. Can play anywhere on the right. There’s talent there when he’s on the ball. Loves a step over. Not very good defensively though, often out of position and his discipline not brilliant either. Him getting sent off at Lincoln a couple of seasons ago was the kind of stupidity that meant he wasn’t long for us.

You’re right Kennedy did coach him at Man City. After that Lincoln game he did say some consoling words for him so perhaps he feels he’s the right manager to get a tune out of him now. Maybe he’s matured a bit since being at Kiddy though.

Thanks for the feedback. We love a defender that can't defend!

Well if they’ve played for us in the last couple of years that will more than fulfil that criteria.

One of last times saw him play for us ended up getting in a slanging match with some of our fans at Accy and think he told someone to fuck off. Personally that stuff never bothers me as if you give it out be prepared to get it back but it all pointed to him needing a fresh start.

Are the rumours of a loan or permanent signing?

I quit like him but he needs games. His loan at Accrington last season didn't work out for him but it sounded like they were playing him up top on his own and he's not that kind of player. He plays off the shoulder and works really hard. Not massively pacy, not particularly tall (but not short). He's well down the pecking order for us atm.

Could go either way. There is talent there though for sure. Maybe just needs to find the right club.

No idea if loan or permanent, just saw the name mentioned.

We’re crying out for pace so I’ll be a bit disappointed if the next striker we bring in doesn’t have that attribute.

Sammy was a funny one, had games where he was unplayable (Wycombe and Wednesday notably) and others where he was terrible.

I kind of felt he’d probably be better as a winger more than a wing back as he couldn’t really defend.

He’s been at Man City so decent on the ball but was very raw is probably the word, certainly potential though.

I support the club that’s had 52 seasons in the second tier and 12 seasons in the top tier, as opposed to sleeping giants Carlisle Utd’s 16 seasons in the second tier and *(checks notes)* erm 1 season in the top tier finishing rock bottom.

We're not trying to sign a striker who is hugely out of favour at Wrexham ffs. You go on at me for believing every daft rumour and yet you are taking this one seriously.

Why would we want a player like that when we can easily attract far better strikers?

I think the other part that’s often neglected as well is that he’s the top earner at the club since he signed his contract extension so it frees up a decent % of the budget as well which should be factored in (he’s on £4k per week if you believe the rumours)

Yes, these are coping mechanisms

If the rumours are right and we reinvest a bit of it in someone like Mellon who is a lot younger with a decent record already, I’d be comfortable with it. Gutted obviously, but comfortable.

If we can do that while also using it to strengthen squad numbers further at the back and in midfield while banking half a mill or something then I think it’s probably the right thing to do.

Akil Wright gone to Ross County as rumoured. Good, spending money on a player of his age and profile would have been a mistake in my opinion. Interested to see who we pivot to next.

We’ve sold Lucien Mahovo to Norwich. A bit of an odd one, as we’ve only seen a tiny sample size of him but you’d have put money on him being released and joining a NLN side more than being poached by a bigger side

To be fair I think Carlisle have needed probably that Wyke signing in order to tempt some to look at us.

Takeover has meant a much larger budget but not many wanted to join a sinking ship and then heading into this summer we didn’t reek of a club with ‘ambition’ or drastically looking much of a challenger.

Wyke does bring a feeling of club stepping up a gear, if we are offering maybe the highest wage in L2 it isn’t a club looking for midtable.

That word does get around and suddenly players not too tempted may think again, could see Carlisle grabbing a couple more now that perception has changed l.

We had Cheltenham's transfer listed keeper Max Harris play 45 minutes as a triallist on Saturday.
