Dobra has suitors including Stockport in League one and others in divisions above - club keen not to sell in this window.
Honestly, I think if anyone’s serious about taking him at this late stage of the window then they’re going to have to cough up big time. Cook’s & the clubs ambition is to give it a good go in the 2nd half of the season at trying to get promotion, and selling our best player at this stage in the window would be significantly detrimental to that.

Obviously if it’s a championship club (Derby been rumoured all window) that comes knocking, and they start getting close to figures the club would deem acceptable, that’s when you could see Dobra potentially making some noise in terms of wanting to go and you couldn’t blame him for that, which would obviously make it hard to stand in his way & block a potential life changing move like that. Dobs & Cook do have a very strong relationship though, and no matter what happens over these next few days I’m 100% certain there will be no toys being thrown out the pram from either party.

In the mean time I’ll be praying our phone lines go down between now and next Tuesday !!

Looks like we dodged a bullet with Hutton. I remember when Gillingham were buzzing after nabbing him off us by offering more wages. He was in a hotel in Manchester waiting to sign the next day as the story goes.
Is Gillinghams recruitment strategy to just drive around hotels hoping to find players ready to sign for other clubs as they did that to Bradford too.

Here’s your answer from a thread on the Gills forum called “unloved 11”

Wasters, show-offs, sick-notes and scapegoats:

JET
Mark Mccammon
Josh Andrews
I wouldn’t call JET unloved, just ask any male of my generation who they used to think of on a Saturday night after watching Gladiators.

Tom Lowery coming home for the rest of the season if he passes his medical today. Miniesta is a Championship level player and will be an amazing signing and provide the creativity we desperately lack if he can stay fit. He's only played 30 games over the last 2 and a half seasons, so that's a big if. I think he has been fit for all of this season, but Pompey left him out of their squad because of his past injury problems.

Who have we sold so far this winter, I've lost track.
Finch went back to Middlesborough. Can't say that's a disappointment.
Harness, Tucker and Tripp out on loan of the first teamers... only Tripp you'd say is a development loan, the rest are to get them off the books.
Ilunga, MJ, Wearne, Leigh and Burns all sold... none of which many fans will be disappointed by.
Do you still have Ellis at your club ?
Yeah, he's being called to start a lot more because Hogan isn't getting the sort of service he needs and isn't scoring... never mind that Ellis isn't scoring when given the chance either.

Aidan Stone my lord! Aidan Stone...

Obviously a big part of our promotion coming in after Lucas kept getting sent off and will always be fondly remembered at Vale Park in folklore for the penalty save from Josh Davidson to keep us in the shoot out against Swindon which we eventually won.

That said had an error in him and we got away with a couple of glaring ones he made in the final at Wembley which could of seen a different outcome and wasn't League One level, was surprised Notts took him off us but a top bloke and hopefully does well where he ends up. Possibly Weston Super Mare or Truro City maybe?

Weston won't want him, they've still got our Max Harris on loan. He's now played more than 100 games for them over the last few seasons, all while being on loan from us.

Very big gamble from Bell going for both Lowery and Finnigan this window when both have not been playing much football of late. When both these players are fit we know how good they are. Conversely, if these players were both fit on a regular basis, there's no way we'd have signed them in this division for sure.

It's a big roll of the dice. It's not what I would've done as I would prefer to see an actual ball winning midfielder (criminal Bell has neglected this given he was pretty much a ball winning midfielder for the majority of his career) given Conor Thomas is still out injured and I'd have preferred a winger too. But this may well be a masterstroke and Bell will admit that he's going to live or die by his decisions.

At best, we've shored up a shaky midfield with depth and it's going to create enough to get us a Top 3 finish.

At worst, we get two injury prone players that manage about 5 games between them, spaff thousands on wages and are back to square one very, very quickly.

A very high ceiling and a very low floor. Boom or bust. Only time will tell.

Looks like Carlisle and Morecambe are having a wrestle over Andy Dallas.

Are you hearing Finnigan too? I heard he was desperate to come back but it was either/or.

Also, it might not be the best idea under the circumstances, but if you can't get excited about Tom Lowery, what's the point in being a football fan?

I heard one in today and one in tomorrow. Lowery obviously been seen at the training ground today so, medical dependent he's gonna sign later.

Finnigan was the only other player we've been talking to now the Tezgel interest has evaporated after Robins gave Morris his P45 at Stoke and Bell has, rather weirdly, attempted to sign him in almost every transfer window since he became manager so it would appear logical that it's him.

Now this is just my opinion but if both were coming in you'd assume Lowery is coming in on a Kirk like deal to the end of the season with the original club paying him off given there's not long left on his deal. With 2.5 years left on his deal, I can't see us bringing Finnigan in permanently unless Bruce doesn't rate him at all and has offered him to us for a pittance.

If both came in on loan it'd make no sense. You're not dropping Marschall, JKL is one of our most in-form players and COR hasn't come back just to warm the bench. So that'd leave Conway who we've shown interest in on a permanent basis too. So unless Conway signs permanently, the two in on loan would cause some issues.

Luke Williams killed his confidence completely randomly dropping him for that Mansfield game last season. We’d been doing well as a team and he’d been solid if not outstanding until then. Every time he came back after that he looked a nervous wreck. Hope he does well wherever he ends up.

I agree completely. £1M and he’s gone though.

Little legend is Dobs.

Nathan Thompson, our best defender based on the 110 minutes of evidence we got to see is out for the season. Great signing... :woot:

Yeah, that would sense if Lowery signs as a free agent until the summer if Pompey pay him up. We nearly signed Finnigan last January so I guess Blackpool might sell him for whatever they paid for him?

I think the Conway deal is dead (at least until the summer) as Bolton got cold feet when they started to think about getting rid of Evatt.

I'd be shocked if we lost out to Morecambe for a player (no offence)

Is he any good?
Had a couple of good seasons in NL 4/5 years ago then started playing games (or his agent did) and thinking he was a lot better than he is and hasn’t done anything of note for at least a couple of years or more.

I am confident that GTFC Fish will have this down as a BAD SIGNING

He scored a last minute goal at Brunton Park earlier this season, but his team mate was offside so it was ruled out.
Other than that, I can only look at Google to see his stats.
He's another option up front while Kelly sees out his 3½ yr contract in the treatment room.

Another one for Carlisle by the looks of things. How many would that be if they pulled this one off? Was in the Dutch u21 squad not long ago, must have something about him

Very average in a very average team but can guarantee he'll score a few for whoever he turns out for, usually the way it happens in terms of players who haven't fired for us.

Imho, Dallas had a purple patch which lasted about 3 months a few years ago.

Since then has had a string of clubs and not done a great deal at any of them. Steer clear

It is a baldrick style ‘cunning plan’ that if Carlisle purchase every single player in the entire world we surely then somehow cannot be worse than every other side.

Problem with our grand plan is we seem to have only started with the crap or crocked categories

Tom Lowery is far too good for this level. As others have said, the catch is his injury record since leaving us. He wouldn't be back with us if it wasn't for his injuries. It's a gamble, but a gamble worth taking. A fit Tom Lowery would get into every single team in League 1, imo.

Finnigan I've been told isn't happening, but who knows.
