We've got Nigel Pearson's son, James (yes, the one from the video) on trial. I believe he played at Barnet last season but suffered a bad injury?
Excellent player if he has fully recovered. He was way to good for league 2 before the injury.

As BeesKnees said above, he was excellent for us and we really suffered his absence for the whole of last season.

We had him in League 1 pre-video on loan. He wasn't too bad at that level, though would probably have been better in a better side.

Wrong again! Sibbald is back at Falkirk getting treatment for a hip injury, but may be back to play for us against Borehamwood by the weekend if he is fit. If that is the case you have to think he is still keen on the move.

I think that's the key, if he rocks up in the Borehamwood game we can assume there is a deal being worked out. If not you'd think that it's rumbledon to long with nothing really happening.

Interesting to see Bakinson has played in all the first team games so far after barely featuring at all last season. Looked really promising at the end of the season before and there were rumours of interest from Spurs. Hopefully any problems, injury or otherwise are behind him now. Has also been good to see Musonda again, albeit at RB, in JJs absence.

Still expect JJ to stay also.

Would love him to push on as he is meant to be a fantastic prospect, hopefully the next big money spinner once JJ leaves next summer. I wouldn't read too much into pre-season appearances though, he played in every first team friendly last summer too I believe but then never got near the team apart from the Trophy games. He's the youngest of the crop I believe, a couple of years younger than JJ and Musonda and a year below Famewo as well if memory serves, so time is definitely on his side.

The source is a17-year old on Twitter... if it turns out to be true that will surely be a world first.

Michael Tonge, Neil Eardley and Gavin Gunning are expected to be offered deals after coming through trials with us according to sources. Assume they've gone Spain today with the squad.

Don't listen to him! Gavin Gunning is ok but a walking red card.
Was a bit if a scapegoat at times, but generally deservedly so. His performance against Donny at home sticks out as a particularly crap one.

I'm not going to blame him for that one, seeing as he had Dan Jones playing in front of him. He did have some stinkers, I'll admit.

Was that the match when Bignot basically said he played Gunning because Pearson was too much of a safe option?

He's going to be a big miss, obviously. Although, luckily we are still very strong in attack with Wheeler, Reid, McAlinden and probably Brunt when he signs so we will score plenty.

Think we'll be going more direct this season and likely play two up top with someone partnering Reid. Promotion is still the target....For us to take that extra step we need to be better defensively, which is more of a concern than going forward.
Is Brunt doing well for you, I hope he gets a contract?

Gavin Gunning managed to give Danny Wright an elbow in the face so he should always be our hero for that.

Unlikely to be first choice as Smith is outstanding and Kay will partner first choice.

A video of him nearly killing a Crewe striker last season by just standing in his way and sending him flying like a rag doll being chucked from a dog has gone down well in the affections of Vale fans mind!

He's played a total of 50 mins or so, so early days but I hear he's been ok so far.

As he's been with us for 3 weeks I expect Tisdale is extremely keen to get him so would imagine we will offer him a deal fairly soon.

Sounds like Jonathan Smith has had a few offers but isn't sure about them, from Jones's comments about Smith's "ambitions" I'm guessing it's either a lower League Two club or a Conference team wanting him. Eastleigh maybe or Dagenham? He's definitely good enough for League Two despite his limitations.

Josh McQuoid had zero offers by the sounds of that interview, annoying from our wage bill perspective but no surprise really. Probably on a decent whack but a bit of a fraud footballer, not done anything for years apart from brief flashes in games. Still not even sure if he's meant to be a striker or a wide man. I imagine we'll end up loaning him out somewhere with us heavily subsidising his wage.

Jorge Grant not in the Forest squad for tonight.

Still can't think of a single reason he won't be on loan at a League 1 club this season.
