I'm sure there'd be a meltdown too if Swindon turned out to be shite.

Expectations from us are much lower to be fair. I'm expecting mid-table with half an eye on the play-offs.

If we turn out to be shite, I won't be falling off any bar stools in shock.

God, I'm hoping we manage shite!

I think shite is a lot better than we are at the moment.

He's right we have kept most of the players from last season give or take 15 or so.
Also says Wycombe have made loads of signings this Summer but pretty sure they've made about 2.

Craig Sibbald on as a trialist in second half against Leicester. Hopefully it's a sign a deal is on the cards.

How about this for expert analysis...

"They're an okay team"
"They've signed some good players"
"... I think they've signed a player"

Edit: Watch this one with the "captions" on to enhance it.

Got a new training ground to pay for, new stadium bits and pieces (bit of a slow burner, that one, but we're moving), new ticketing system etc etc and all other associated costs with getting promoted, most notably with getting back our youth levels back, starting with Category 3, which has come through. Now we can guarantee we'll get fees for youth players, unlike the last six seasons (I think Luton had trouble with that in their NL days Kenneth E End?).
Think it was a bit messy and it was at the time when EPPP first came in.

Originally, after 2 years the protection we had for our U16s and lower was removed and as such Peterborough (amongst others) came and tapped up our players who told them that being at Luton in NL was not good for them, which was total bollocks, because in the following seasons, our board were still spending £450,000 a year on the academy. The EPPP was actually a positive for us when it came in, because it allowed us to have this protection back.

Sounds like tosh.

"Think Lincoln will find out just how hard this league is" pffft we've lived in this league for donkeys and had a short absence. We made the playoffs 5 years in a row when this kid was still soiling his nappies. The club know what to expect from league 2. Let's not kid ourselves it's a very average league, some very good players but mostly average.

He's got 5 teams finishing below 40 points as well. Says it all.

Fair play to him for going through each team individually with his reasons though.

Apparently our nice stadium will help us maintain a mid-table finish in spite of losing key players... so there's that.

Christ that lad went my school a few years below me he was!

A football pundit, he totally ain't...

One thing I've noticed though about Evans and Mansfield. At Rotherham he brought in genuine quality in League 2 and then League 1. I'm not convinced the signings he's made at Mansfield are anywhere near the quality of those Rotherham signings so I can see them flopping easily.

Could also see Coventry flopping given their Top 6 curse but Robins should get them out of this league on paper.

Jury is out on the other relegated sides. Do Swindon have goals in them? Are Vale putting all their eggs in the Popemobile? Chesterfield, to me, look the most likely to bounce back but they need to get rid of that fraud Caldwell and appoint a proper manager.

Can't see past Luton for the title this season if I'm honest. Quality all over the pitch and especially up top.

Nathan Tyson to Wycombe. They need to get Kevin Betsy in now.
Damn. Always scores against us, although I suppose there's a high chance of him being injured for our game anyway.

He must be nearly 40 now - seems to have been around for ages!

Seeing as, at this moment in time, we ARE shite, not so much.

We, the fans, are just hoping Flitcroft does the business. These other bozos are expecting to win it.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be gutted if we don't at the very least make the POs.
That's weird, others are suggesting our expectations are too low!

It would be the most Mansfield thing ever to make 12 above average signings (for us) in the first fortnight of post season then fail to get your main striker and implode within the first month.

We will see......

Of some interest on here, Forest have signed Darwika from Burnley for £2m so now won't be pursuing Justin James...

I can see why the bookies have made us favourites - Steve Evans, decent early signings etc. However, and I think most Stags fans would agree, I am certainly not expecting us to 'piss this league' or similar. There are, quite simply, too many strong sides in this league and far too many variables. I think we will finish in a decent position, i.e POs, anything higher would be a bonus.

"Steve Evens" is not a reason the bookies have given you good odds.

He's incompetent as a manager. If anyone was given a massive budget they could get a team promoted. I can guarantee I would do a better job than that fat, ignorant c*nt.

Please feel free to say what you mean. There's no need to hold back or sit on the fence.

I think we have made some quality signings, quite a few that are genuinely capable of L1 football.

No way we should be favs over Luton though, and we really need another striker.

Thanks very much, I'm sure I'll be cheaper than Evans as well.
Just don't ask me to manage you against ECFC.

When do I start? Also please tell Evans to get out of my office.

How come Mansfield are wasting so much time on strikers that are patently completely unrealistic? Could just be rumours, I guess.

It really makes no sense at this point in the season using those match-by-match predictors.

I mean, later on when not everyone has the same points, you've some idea how teams might perform against other teams and not everyone's remaining fixtures are equal, then yes, it's a good way to make predictions. But at this stage, everyone's on zero points, everyone has everyone else left to play and you're just making assumptions over which teams will turn out to be better than others. So you might as well just predict the table in order of how good you think each team will be. Deciding how good you think each team will be and then going to the trouble of predicting the outcome of each match will get you the same result but take a lot longer.
