He will be. He is a good finisher, works hard for the team and has an uncanny knack of being in the right place to put a chance away. He's not overly skilful or fast and physically he looks slight but he has a good footballing brain.

All of this.

Also he was out of favour for a full 12 months, was transfer listed and had been totally written off by 90% of our fans (including me), only to come back just after Christmas and put in a huge shift. If it wasn't for him we'd have finished bottom and would never have been in contention for survival on the last day.

Slightly confused though as to why he was released by mutual consent, he had a year left on his contract and surely wasn't surplus to requirements.

We've played an absolute blinder on Akinde. I can't see him ever being the same player again following his injuries.

Time will tell, funnily enough I read a few posts on the Barnet forum saying something quite different. Any player is a gamble so hopefully you are wrong.

'I think John Akinde will be brilliant this season. He was injured last season and cruelly rushed back into action before he was fully fit. Those are the words of Martin Allen not me. Even John Still agrees if a players gets injured early on it is difficult for them to catch up. JA just never recaptured that burst of speed in the box he had previously. With the benefit of a full pre-season fitness programme JA will be back to his best and good luck to him. He deserves every success.'

We’ve signed Akin Femewo on loan from Luton. Except that he’s a defender, I know nothing about him.

Really good signing. The best of our crop of youngsters who went on an FA Cup run a few years back. Young and athletic and very confident on the ball. A full season in league two will do him the world of good.

Have to admit I've never heard of David Vaughan so just looked him up and he looks like he could be Peter Beardsley's uglier Brother.

He looks like Sloth from the goonies.

Incredible signing for league 2! County must be favourites for promotion.

Huge pressure on Nolan to perform. Surely anything other than promotion would be an underachievement given the signings they’ve made.

Right-back Tom Miller signs on a two-year deal from Carlisle.

Goalkeeper Hudson joins on loan from Preston.

Tom miller had an excellent first season, an ok second season and then a poor final season which cost him a new contract.

I liked him, but I could understand why we released him after the last season. Gave away a countless number of penalties.

His dip in form coincided with him turning vegan.

My Lincoln supporting co-worker often links threads to me. My fave person on there is Scotimp (I think he is called that?). If any of you thought Impish was hilariously obsessed with us and you have a few minutes and want a laugh, I fully advise you to go and read his posts about us (basically all of his posts) on there.

Peterborough sign CB Josh Yorwerth from Crawley for a you guessed it "significant 6 figure fee", at least they have Josh Lelan to replace him, oh wait....

If any of Notts, Mansfield or Lincoln don't get promoted after how they are recruiting in terms of talent and money, serious questions would need to be asked.

I don’t mean in money spent terms - more in expectation terms. I would imagine all 3 expect to get promoted. There’s going to be some fallout somewhere.
Why? There's 4 promotion places in League 2.

Good signing, Miller. I'd have had him here as a back-up to Eardley but he's too good to be a back-up IMO.

Good long throw and wins more headers than you think he will given his height.

Yeah. The rest of us are chasing one spot!

Anyone to be be confident of promotion at this stage are deluded, regardless ofnmoney spent. Thought Chesterfield would be close to top 7 and Accrington would be relegated. The beauty of football.

Mansfield and County are clearly strong favourites given their signings. We can’t be sure about Lincoln yet, despite recruiting well, as we still only have 15 players.

Going to be a very competitive season. Expect Swindon, Port Vale, MK Dons and Exeter to be strong. Bury and Northampton are a bit of blind spot for me.

Pleased with Akinde. Can't be disappointed with a 1 in 2 striker! SWB reporting a £150k initial fee.

An upgrade on Palmer.

He's played 170 odd games in 5 seasons so he's hardly someone who misses many games through injury so last season seems a one-off.

Probably still need another 4 or 5 signings.

Josh Lelan has handed in a transfer request at Aldershot Town, with Crawley Town leading the race for his signature.
