Friday, 3pm kick off, 30 miles away, 2 days before Easter Sunday, sun in our eyes, no Ajay Leitch Smith playing, no one else in this league would take that following, no chance. Hahahahahaha easy, nothing clubs, mugs, hahahahahaha. SVA.

To be fair we took 999 for a pointless JPT tie away at Bradford as a league two club with free coaches on a Tuesday night. With free travel most clubs would take a sizeable following especially if challenging the top 2. Bradford, Sheff United and Coventry would muster 2000 I'd imagine in the same circumstances with relative ease.

Colchester
5. Neither nors (but the odd good one, ie local derby)
Posh
Donny

Boring thread now this. In summary, gillingham have the biggest catchment area for any professional league club but have 4000-5000 fans. They had 50000 at Wembley once and Wigan just over 10000. Wigan support were Wigan fans, gillingham clearly not as that means they have 46000 stay away fans. Nothing to gloat about being a second club. Verdict - shit club.
Bury are pointless.
Bradford, Coventry, Sheff United are all much bigger and famous than Wigan if you look at the uk only outside the uk no and that is only because of the recent cup win. Millwall being probably the most well known of all of the league 1 clubs world wide because of the hype around their following.

Swindon, Millwall & Barnsley are all equal size clubs to Wigan. Southend fall just outside of that. Port Vale are then with Oldham in that they would be with the 3 above should they have something to watch. with Doncaster & Peterborough falling with these also.

Wigan are a very small club who have had a good recent history. The away support is good for league 1 and below average for the championship.

After travelling just under 6 hours to that game yesterday with traffic and 3.5 hours back, any fan who does that following their team from any club deserves credit but the ones who slag people off often don't even go to games.

Why do you deserve credit? I go and watch my club cos i want too not to fucking expect recognition of people for doing it

I'm clinging on to the FA Cup we won in 1912 and the fact we were in the Premier League for one whole season, which gives me the right to laud it over most of the paupers in this tinpot division. And what?

Anybody who watches their team and travels hours on end deserves credit.

Unlike the 6500 regulars who didn't travel to watch Wigan in Swindon yesterday or the 18000 who never bothered travelling to Wigan from Sheffield that don't deserve the credit.

I'm all for fans who travel deserving credit.

Why should anyone be congratulated and commended for having a good day out watching the football? Do you not do it for enjoyment?...

i rest my case.

The fact that Bury cling on to those cup wins despite being back when dinosaurs were roaming the earth is pointless.

Checkmate.

Hahahahahaha What utter mugs to think I wasn't being sarcastic there.

All football is to me is a day out with my mates, I don't give a shit about some twonk that thinks his club is the bees knees because his club was lucky to have someone pump millions in to his club year after year. Wigan would be in league 2 without that money and just as big as Bury and Dale. Wigan don't even have a rival that's how small time they are...

Check mate.

Rochdale and Burton up to their usual tricks, so no away attendances for Southend/Oldham repsectively.

Also no away numbers given by Colchester for Doncaster and no official figure for Millwall at Bradford, Millwall match report says "around 500" so I've stuck that in the table.

I wouldn't have but you seemed to want abuse.

Not really, that isn't what I am like. I may have got it wrong and generalised a bit, but I am simply here to express an (sometimes odd) opinion. I wouldn't resort to personal abuse, not even to a 'Swine' supporter

Don't have any figures, but Southend had a decent turnout on Friday. I'd guess 500 to 600.

Yet you're the only team ever to win the FA Cup and get relegated in the same season. Not the most enviable record to have - plus you were a EPL team at the time, yes it was an upset to beat Man City but hardly a huge shock. I'd also add you only had to beat one EPL team in reaching the final.

Try reaching a major final as a L2 side and beating 3 EPL teams plus a Championship team along the way - not quite as straightforward.

What Wigan are doing now is what you should have been doing all season, given your resources. Classy of you to be bragging about it, though.
