He's never even been approached

Apparently your chairman has been out of the country for a few weeks but returned today, so no nothing could probably be done before today. Odds of 1-16 suggests more than just a few bets being placed on somebody.

Cummins seen at the club today apparently. Talk from OVF suggests Aspin is about done but Cummins is not as cut and dry.

Perhaps Cummins fancies taking over from Aspin at Gateshead.

Just talking about that man... That header pea rolling agonisingly slowly as Cutler raced back having just enough legs on it to down the Lardies!

If you get Aspin in charge before Saturday then that should make for a thoroughly entertaining game of hoof ball from both teams, can't wait.

The new manager will debut against Grimsby... the chairman has already told us to get tickets sorted in advance... which means it will probably be Ravenelli or something knowing Smurf!

Aspo debuting as Vale boss against the team he scored THAT goal would be fitting though.

Harry Redknapp has offered his services to us free of charge. Says he fancies working part time with a young manager not too far from where he lives and Darren Way & Yeovil fit the bill.

I'm not sure whether that would help Darren or not. He certainly needs help from somewhere.

For "free." What he means is cash in hand, no questions asked. He can then stick it into his dogs bank account in Monaco.

Win win for Tubby this, if he goes to Gillingham he'll get a huge budget and if he stays at Mansfield the Radfords will increase his budget to keep him.

A decent manager should be able to produce results with very little budget. Evans has never done this just always bought success and even so he's not had a great deal of that.

Well we know what Evans is like he likes plenty of cash to splash or he's off to the next club, normally once he's left his current club in a mess, Boston have never recovered from his reign there.

Not surprised Gillingham were after Evans. Every league club would secretly like him as their manager due to his successful past. He is also a very likeable person, particularly on the touchline.

Evans and his sidekick are perfect for those terrible games when you're wondering why you bothered to part with 20 quid to watch the substandard fare on offer. Whenever this happens, and it happens quite frequently in lower league footy, just turn your attention to the touchline and you stand a great chance of recuperating some of that 20 quid.

I can categorically state that we do not have any cash for a huge budget.

It'll be Big Ron Manager all over again. You never know though, maybe giving a few interviews from his car window will be the impetus Way needs to turn Yeovil around.

Statement from Gateshead at 10AM tomorrow but Smurfs tweet tonight suggests it is Neil Aspin but aside from that... the god of Port Vale Football Club, our greatest manager and the man that gave us the glory days of the 90s and even at one point dreaming of Premier League Football. 16 years as manager to return in a DOF role 18 years after his departure. John Rudge back at the club... if as it seems I’ll cry with joy! Can’t wait for Saturday!!!

Redknapp confirmed. A very loose agreement described as 'an advisory role with the first team'.

It's got to worth a pop, we've got nothing to lose.

If it confirmed Aspin and Rudge am more than happy with that. Rudge especially as our greatest ever manager will bring a lot of know-how and also more importantly I am hoping that will keep Smurthwaite from doing his previous trick of meddling too much in on field affairs. No way will JR stand for that.

Erm... it’s a long story.

He financed Paul Wildes to buy us out of administration apparently not knowing exactly what he was buying... then money went missing and they fell out so he quit. Was going to put us in administration again which would have killed the club but was persuaded not too.

Fell in love with the club apparently but made some crazy decisions although has pumped millions in (mainly in director loans) then quit in the summer to take a back seat due to fans reactions to his cock up; whilst refusing to sell.. now in the shit he’s back to sort it out.

Jose Mourinho rang him last summer making him star struck and hiring his best mate Bruno Ribeiro and signing loads of foreign players from the likes of Benfica, Vitoria Setabul and Monaco... turns out they couldn’t do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke...

He will have redeemed some respect for this appointment along with Rudge which is probably why he’s done it.
