Deserved for Palace. But how clueless is Rodgers? Spent a shit load of money and made them a worse team then plays players out of position. Absolutely clueless.

No wonder Gerrard wants to leave with all this shit he's playing with.

My favourite player of all time, top player.

Yeah, there's some real childish pettiness about Gerrard in here. People who love the game itself can see past their tribalism and admire Gerrard for being the great player he was. I can't stand Chelsea or Man U but I expressed my admiration for Lampard and Giggs when they called it a day at Chelsea and Man U, great players all 3 of them.

His comments about our supporters after they had given him an ovation at the Bridge last week did it for me. Miserable self-centered git. Good riddance!

Look through this thread. 80% of the posts are about him so yeah, obviously people care.

I'm not sure it counts when most of them are either complaining about the Gerrard waffle or else poking fun at it.

No wonder Gerrard wants to leave with all this shit he's playing with.

He's worse than most of them.

Ok, our definitions are slightly different then.

How about it's one of the greatest players in the history of one of the greatest clubs in England leaving, and people buying tickets for well over £1000 to see him one last time?

Just because you don't care, doesn't mean no one else does. Nor does it mean it has to annoy you or that you have to disagree with it. Turn your telly off and go have a beer or something, you're perfectly allowed to without belittling an occasion quite obviously important to a lot of people.

I doubt many of them have to listen to the commentators drone on and on about it. They're there for all the viewers, not just the numpties with more cash than sense.

Seriously does anyone care about this Stevie G bollocks or are the pundits just living in their own little bubble?
I know you as a reasonable poster and I reckon you're on a windup.

But I'll add this again since you seem to have missed it:

The point isn't that Gerrard is leaving and it's some big shock, it's the fact that players of his ilk have a firm fond place in my childhood. He and Lampard are the household names of 'my generation' growing up...the players you wanted to watch on MOTD when you were a kid and the entire of your Saturday was based around watching the footy before bed! I don't particularly care for Liverpool and I'm not that bothered about Gerrard the bloke (which isn't too say I think he's a prick or whatever) but I hold some good memories growing up with regards to Liverpool.

My best mate growing up...was a huge Liverpool/Gerrard fan... sadly he passed away in 2007 from terminal brain cancer..but one of the very last things he got to do, was meet Stevie G, who from all concerned was absolutely brillant with him.

I'm not talking about a personality contest though. If I were there's plenty of players that are arseholes. I'm talking about the man as a great player, which some people on here are so blinded by their dislike of Liverpool they seem unable to understand. Not you btw.

I can't fault Gerrard as a player, he was fantastic. I even half heartedly gave him a clap at the end of the game.

But still 3-1 and dominated at home. Cheers for the six points :)

Skinner is a good example of a man who appreciates football and footballers properly, even if they play for another team.

He was fantastic for Liverpool, today was a day for Liverpool fans to show their appreciation.

The rest of us did not need a full week of Super Steven Gerrard stuffed down our throats, we couldn't give a fuck.

Was it literally everywhere you went? Constant 24 hours a day? Were you strapped into your armchair whilst coverage was on TV? Do you not know how to change the TV channel or radio station? What has all that got to do with him as a player anyway? Nothing.

At least you are capable of conceding he was a fantastic player.

A great enemy to despise for close to two decades. Incredible player and it'll be tough to find a Liverpool player to hate but respect in his absence.

It was good of him to give us a final chuckle today though.

With Gerrard departing they don't really have any massive tossers in their ranks now. They've got some likable players in Henderson, Can, Ibe etc and the rest are inoffensive. I would say Sterling but he is probably off as well.

In case you haven't realised, this week the playoffs have been and as such many football supporters up and down the country have been particularly interested in following how they have been panning out. As such I don't think it's unfair to suggest they would look to sports TV and radio programming to keep track of that.

However, completely needlessly, this wankfest has completely overshadowed everything else because there are so many tossers worldwide who "support" Liverpool, and Gerrard is apparently an "Premier League legend", despite never winning the fucking thing, and will probably be back on loan in 6 months.

Gerrard was world class at his peak, which was a fair while ago now, I've never said any different.
