In case you haven't realised, this week the playoffs have been and as such many football supporters up and down the country have been particularly interested in following how they have been panning out. As such I don't think it's unfair to suggest they would look to sports TV and radio programming to keep track of that.

However, completely needlessly, this wankfest has completely overshadowed everything else because there are so many tossers worldwide who "support" Liverpool, and Gerrard is apparently an "Premier League legend", despite never winning the fucking thing, and will probably be back on loan in 6 months.

Gerrard was world class at his peak, which was a fair while ago now, I've never said any different.
It's a shame you're not as exercised about something that actually fucking matters....like doing your bit to try and get rid of a Tory government. :bg1:.

Liverpool right now are only 4 points better off than the season they started off with Hodgson and finished with Dalglish

I'm not talking about a personality contest though. If I were there's plenty of players that are arseholes. I'm talking about the man as a great player, which some people on here are so blinded by their dislike of Liverpool they seem unable to understand. Not you btw.

Didn't bother me one way or the other up until last week; he was a good plager, not as good as Lampard of course, but so much sentimental tush and all the hype? it's not like he's had his legs amputated, he's too old for top flight football - three cheers, hurrah, and goodbye.

I've not been listening to the hype and stuff, probably best to avoid all that shit if it bothers you. I reckon it could be goodnight Vienna for Rodgers if they don't get into the top 4 next season. If his signings are like the last intake that will be the case as well.

With Gerrard departing they don't really have any massive tossers in their ranks now. They've got some likable players in Henderson, Can, Ibe etc and the rest are inoffensive. I would say Sterling but he is probably off as well.

Henderson would have potential if he was a bit better and if his hard-man act wasn't funny.

I'm sure there must be a quicker case of a player coming on and scoring from a free kick/corner.
Any city fans remember Steven Davies coming on to take a penalty and score it? That was quick, probably a bit quicker than Zaha's.

His comments about our supporters after they had given him an ovation at the Bridge last week did it for me. Miserable self-centered git. Good riddance!
...

They criticized him throughout the game, held up ridiculous banners, and poked fun at him all day. His comments about your supporters were true.
And just in case you needed any proof:

Some of them like to engage in the sport of racially abusing black commuters. Others like telling racist jokes on forums that have to be removed too . Of course, this is just a minority of dickheads.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Just seen the Gerrard memorial on MOTD

FUCK. ME.

It was like something from 'Pride of the Yankees'....

I didnt hear the interview afterwards but did he say "Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth"?

He's coming back on loan, no doubt about it. And it will be cringeworthy.

Twat. There were 40 odd thousand people there, of course some were 'hostile'; but there were plenty who were not and they gave him a rousing ovation at the end of tbe game, but tbe dickhead slagged them off.

Typical scouse tosser.

Can they not keep this rubbish to local TV? I'd understand a bit more if he hadn't selfishly and continuously failed his country throughout the years but as it is, he's just another player who won a few cups at club level and wasn't good enough to compete at International level. There's loads of players like him.

Yeah, the rest of the England team. Won a few cups? He didn't win the title, but he won all the others. What do you mean selfishly failed his country? He purposely wanted to fail for his country? It's more a case of like all the England players, good for their respective team but put them on a pitch together against quality opposition and they're rubbish.

You need to keep a lid on it mate, there's no need for that.

There's no need for a lot of things; biased crap from jugheads for instance. The bloke was a good player, but insulting our commendation was beyond forgiveness, and the jughead in question knows it, but refuses to see it.

The fact that someone made a "best moments" video about a Liverpool home loss during Gerrard's penultimate game before he actually moves to another club, not dies or retires, says it all mate.

The video is about the best moments regarding his departure, when he came onto the pitch, interview with him etc after the game. It's edited from another video. HAVE YOU NOT EVEN WATCHED it? :bg1:

Maybe he (and Gerrard) didn't fully appreciate the respect that a lot of Chelsea fans gave him, I'm just saying personally calling him a wanker is out of order. What's a jug head by the way?

I mean he showed no discipline to the detriment of the group. Again and again. Like, why would his 'magical story' appeal to the entire country mate? He didn't do anything for us apart from show himself to be a hypocrite and a cheat (and a bit violent and egotistical to boot). It's not like he's one of the great English players, is it?

I don't think he's one of the great England players, as in international players. No he was pretty shit for England. However, I'd say he is one of the great English players for his club. I accept he wasn't perfect, the diving was particularly annoying. I do think though that had he been good for England, let's say hypothetically he played really well most of the time and scored the goal that won the world cup, he wouldn't be getting the opprobrium he's getting on here...oh no, no way. It would be an entirely different story if that happened with people on this forum forming an orderly queue to suck Steven Gerrard's dick

.. My point was that he's been a great player for his club and then for some reason people start banging on about the media frenzy about him which has nothing to do with his ability. Is anyone being forced to listen to or watch it?

Football and sport in general connect because of the constant narratives they tell. Today was the conclusion of a storied player's home career, that's an important story to cover. Some things are worth making a big deal out of, Gerrard certainly qualifies for that.
