Newlands Park in two weeks will be much more fraught and without that, the stadium can't be built anyway because they won't have the money.

I only watched the first hour or so of the 3 counties live feed on Facebook but I'm slightly concerned how much the Local Plan was referenced in the application for Power Court and any knock-on that may have on the Newlands Park application.

Nevertheless fantastic news on Power Court. To all those non-Hatters fans on here, just think that the club are potentially one decision away from a stadium that's 2 minutes away from the train station, new bars and restaurants to visit, more legroom and you don't have to enter through somebody's back garden.

Presumably we'll get the recommendation report for Newlands about this time next week like we did with Power Court? Should make for interesting reading.

I imagine the Newlands meeting will be a more entertaining/stressful watch, you know Capital & Regional are going to come all guns blazing. They didn't even bother to turn up tonight, just sent a letter. Next one will be a very different story and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about it but let's hope all these delays have been worth it to get it over the line. The alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

Would have preferred the Newlands Park application to have gone for approval first. We all know that is the key to any new stadium. The council know full well that without NP we can't have a Power Court, in which case the council must be pretty confident that this application will also go through.
Still very early stages of course and even if NP does get the green light any building work on the stadium is a long way off. That said yesterdays decision filled my with hope. We have waited so long, 60 years, to relocate and this is the nearest we have come. I like all Hatters fans can start to dream. I love Kenilworth Road to bits. Started going there when I was 6 years old and have so many memories. The day we leave will be very emotional. We all understand however that without a new stadium the future of the club is at great risk.
The design of the stadium is fantastic. No out of town bowl, but a modern centre of town stadium that people will want to visit. Yesterday was an historic day for the club.

Interesting news this morning.

It appears that The Brache (Luton’s training ground) could be used to host teams at Euro 2020. Being close to an airport, to London and a 5* hotel obviously attracting factors.

Should be a good few bunce coming the clubs way if it comes off.

I think this is great. Football is about community, Families can make more of a day of it if in the centre of town. City centres need as much support as possible.

Another important hurdle cleared. This should mean the plans will now be approved by the Council Committee on March 11th but we're still in for a long legal process after that. C&R are going to use every legal and procedural avenue they can find to delay and frustrate the move.

Lets hope the huge amount of work put in by the club, and to their credit the council as well I think, goes someway to keeping any challenges from C&R to the absolute minimum they can be.

I still think that politics is slightly at play here. The Tory councillor abstained from the Power Court vote for absolutely no reason. A C&R shareholder is a donor to the Tory party and the SoS obviously is a Tory. No conflict of interest there at all of course.

There was something in the report that was quite important - that the plan DOES NOT conform to planning policy totally, however the balances in place outweigh this. This is probably what C&R are going to try and hammer home as well as the political view that out of town centre developments hinder town centres. Nothing to do with their lack of investment over the years of course, high rents and reducing shopping to the lowest common denominator.

Great result, despite the objections by MPs from that small new town nearby. Not the end of the road by any means if our experience is anything to go by though fortunately you don't have a grandstanding city mayor to stick what's going to turn out for us to be a very expensive spanner in the works. Looking forward to sitting in seats not designed for primary age kids and not walking through people's back yards to get in!

I did read somewhere yesterday that this Section 106 agreement that is mentioned might be a lot of work to complete though. Not a clue what it actually is but from what I read yesterday it can take months, so might be a while longer before that 6 weeks JR timer starts.

Really feels like this was the biggest hurdle though. I must admit I was concerned that a Tory SoS would be influenced by the objections of Tory MPs for Milton Keynes at the expense of Labour voting Luton.

It can go to JR but that isn't about the decision itself, that can only be challenging something about how the decision was made and getting it referred back to the council. JR won't substitute in its own opinion on the application like the SoS could have done.

Great news. This thread was started 4 years ago and without the interference of C&R we may have been moving into our new stadium next season. The boards aims were to get us into the championship and playing in a new stadium by 2020. Shame they had an objector who had no interest in cooperating and made it clear they would delay the whole planning process with their dirty delaying tactics which cost the club and town a lot of money. I sincerely hope they accept defeat and f*** off out of Luton. They have damaged their reputation beyond repair. We won't forgive or forget.

Anyway I can now at last start to have a clearer picture of my seat in the splendid new Ricky Hill stand.
