Allen would probably stabalise Chesterfield in the short term at least if he went there and was given the all clear to build his own team, long term though as already mentioned he isn't a good option.

Rumour that he failed at Eastleigh because the dressing room he inherited was poor due to poor team morale and the stupid wages that they have been paying - As well of course down to his poor decision making as well.

Our grounds are not similar, I've been to the hive and it's not a patch on the proact, and I'd also be fairly confident in suggesting that our academy has produced far more professional footballers than yours has so we'll leave that argument there shall we!!

Ofcourse none of the above has any bearing at all on performances on the pitch. Speak to the majority of Chesterfield fans and we'll all tell you the same, none of us are expecting an easy ride, just look at how long ex FL clubs sometimes find themselves down here for. You lot don't have to keep reminding us how difficult the conference is and how we're all gonna be so 'shocked' when a small club rock up and beat us 3-0 at home... believe me, we won't be shocked as we watched a village side dismantle us 4-1 to relegate us a few weeks back! The simple facts are that a club of our size cannot spend too long down here it's as simple as that, and that's why we need to make sure this appointment is one we get right. If we don't get back to the football league sharpish and we spend years and years rotting in this league... attendances will plummet and our town will be without a football club as we will go to walls!

Its a shame you were given the little bar and a couple of blocks in the home stand. Until Saturday I had no idea how good the away end is. Sadly I doubt it will be worth opening next season.

Talk of him preferring to live darn sarf notwithstanding, I'm sure he was one of the applicants we had a few seasons back when we appointed Curle.

Most credible rumour so far for the job is Gary McCann (Hendon).

Would be a sound appointment on paper and would be great if we finally appointed a manager in the ascendancy instead of someone who did well somewhere 10-15 years ago, or at the other end of the scale someone with no experience.

No pressure? It's probably the job with the MOST pressure in this league... This club should be in league 1

No you shouldn’t.

If your fans, players and board think that you’re going to get caught a with your pants down worse than I thought. You seem to be going for the “no lube option”

Best of luck

Oh dear Spireites! This bickering is only going one way. Please see the guide for more details. Follow the arrows to see how it all unfolds....

SO chesterfield got to the 4th last part before they started

For those that ever watched the the shawshank redemption, the fat lad that starts crying at the end of the first night is like a “proper club” that’s realises they’re somewhere new, but deserved - him getting done in by the warden is the away trip they’ll have pretty much every game

Luke Garard at Boreham Wood has to be high up the list surely?

Gary McCann has indeed achieved a lot at Hendon, producing a fine footballing side on a small budget. However, I think he’s very attached to Hendon having been their manager for the past decade. Additionally he’s never managed at NLS, let alone NL level. Finally, I assume the manager’s post at Hendon is part-time. Would he give up his day job for a shot at full-time football management?

It’s a shame that Alfreton are no longer in this division...

I'm not fussed about MA leaving, yes we showed good form towards the end of the season but out was against favourable opposition. His style is hard to watch the majority of the time.

Even the season we won the conference the final 6 months were painful to watch the majority of the time. If we can get a half decent reputable manager in we'll be fine, I fully expect us to be title winners come next May with our squad.

Chesterfield isn't a more attractive club than barnet, grounds are fairly similar, our training facilities are far superior, our youth academy is far superior, our current squad is superior and I'm pretty sure our budget is superior.

Chesterfield will indeed have a bigger fan base and a better history in the football league but that counts for nothing when trying to get 3 points on a Saturday afternoon
:dis:While I can understand some of the misguided and over-optimistic views of Chesterfield posters, as a supporter of a club with previous NL history, you ought to be aware of what a minefield getting out of this league can be.

I seem to remember One Decent Lester being equally as optimistic about Chesterfields chances before the start of last season too so it’s quite surprising to read his comments, he really is in for a short sharp shock if he thinks being a ‘big club’ will stand for anything in non league, I’m sure Stockport fans can vouch for that.

But Barnet don't care, look at the lack of the reaction from them getting relegated. It's fucking normal for them, because they go straight back up, it's a rule.

Fucking Coventry.

You'll struggle to find many of our fans with over optimistic views on next season if you read our forum. Although we are a big club for this league and even for league two it means shit all and we are where we are because we deserve it, and we are likely to continue our decline unless something changes

He would definitely be on a shortlist if I was making one. Bags of experience and overachieving at Hendon.

Garrard would be worth a look as well. Doing all that is expected of him at Boreham Wood. I'm sure every Barnet fan would bite your hand off for a trip to Wembley next year.

I would rather have Allen back - says it all when it comes to Campbell.

As for Hendon, would not surprise me.

I'd rather have Sol Campbell than Graham Weasel.

I'm looking forward to next season. I didn't want us to go up only to find us repeating the same relegation dogfights, far rather be battling at the other end of the table.

Worry at the moment is we need to get our act together with a decent manager and fill a few gaps in the squad .

Can somebody please show me where I stated we are going to piss this league because we're a big club???

Infact if anything, I've said we're more likely to struggle than succeed due to our dire situation with shite players contracted until 2019...

I think it’s more the “we’ve got the best ground” (you haven’t), “we’ve got the best youth academy” (debatable) and “we should be in League One” (why?) crap.

We have got the best ground, that's not up for debate, but as previously mentioned it means absolutely nothing.

Tell me a club in this league with a better youth academy than ours then?

And 3, if it wasn't for horrific management from the top, we would be in league 1, which is what I'm referring to. I'm not trying to say we've got a god given right to be in league 1. If we'd have appointed a steady head after paul cook instead of the calamity that was Dean Saunders, we wouldn't be in this situation.

BUT, that's all if's but's and maybe's and here we are, in this dire situation, and in this dire league. The joys of supporting Chesterfield FC.

The irony of saying that to a Leyton Orient fan.

League 1 would be very busy if we were using that as an entry criteria. We'd be in League One too.

Could argue we’d still be in L1 if we’d been run properly. Anyone else think they should be in L1 too?

Did any of your clubs sell about £7 million pounds worth of talent and then not replace them, whilst letting the best manager your clubs ever had go for peanuts, and then decide to replace that manager with Dean f*cking Saunders????

No? Didnt think so.

Oh dear, toys firmly out of the pram there. That’s football mate it happens. We spent a while fighting for promotion to the Championship, replaced the best manager we’ve ever had with Martin Scott who managed to get one of the best squads in L1 at the time, and a big budget, relegated to L2. Its shit but we’re all small clubs and we’re vulnerable to getting shafted.

Welcome to the National League.
