Whilst I don’t agree with most of One Decent Lester’s comments I’m not sure where all the negativity is coming from about Chesterfields stadium, it looked superb to me and the atmosphere was fantastic when we were there and also it’s about the right size for where they were when it was built without loads of empty seats, probably gonna be a lot more empties this year of course due to their new level but I doubt they foresaw a trip to the National League when it was built.

Certainly as new builds go it’s one of the best.
I don't think it's a bad Stadium either.

Yes, it's a bit of a kit one, but they tried to do a little something different rather than go down the Shrewsbury/Colchester route.

Saw on twitter earlier some Barnet fans want Russell Slade as their new manager.

Not a joke, they really do.

Ironic thing being if Slade has stayed here, Barnet wouldn’t even be in the Conference.

Slade hasn’t been mentioned once on our forum as a possible successor to Martin Allen.

It was a couple of people on Twitter.
Yeah I know. I’m just saying that no one has thought of him as a potential choice for us. I had totally forgotten that he’s available!

That’s now Torquay, Wrexham and Orient that have referenced us as a welcome to the conference yardstick. Once upon a time we’d have celebrated an FA Cup first round draw against you lot.
Just because we have a tiny little stadium, have never been out of non league and nobody knew where Bromley was before they played us doesn’t mean we’re not a decent side.
It’s not like you got stuffed by that seasons cannon fodder. Got a good little thing going on down here these last few years.
Very much looking forward to Chesterfield hopefully being added to the list.

To be fair, it was only because you had the cheek to score SEVEN goals down here. Never seen a team do it before in my years of following, so it sticks in the head.

Did go to Bromley and it was actually a decent little set up - bar the chavs that came out in force to meet our own.

Who'd have thunk that four years ago when we're 2-0 up at half time v Rotherham in the play off final that four years on we'd be in the same league and have the same odds as Salford City...

Did any of your clubs sell about £7 million pounds worth of talent and then not replace them, whilst letting the best manager your clubs ever had go for peanuts, and then decide to replace that manager with Dean f*cking Saunders????

No? Didnt think so.

Our entire squad were granted free transfers by the FA, and we couldn’t afford a manager so our goalkeeper stepped up.

I may be biased but I think we win this one.

We will therefore take our rightful place in L1 whilst you can enjoy NL.

Martin Allen set to be announced as Chesterfields new manager tomorrow at 2.30pm.

As good as Chesterfield could've hoped for, given time he should be able to attract some of the leagues better Yorkshire based players and at least steady their ship.

Bondz N'Gala is probably next to him driving up the M1 as we speak................

Current front runners according to BetVictor.

As Kleanthous has never successfully enticed a manager (that's if he has even tried) to leave his current role, that would make Michael Nelson the favourite.

But if he was going to, then why not replace someone that was in his fifth spell, with someone that would be having his third. STILL OUT!

I really like Martin Allen, he had us playing some good football when we won league 2. He also has a habit of getting his teams to grind out wins when they need to. Knows this league inside out too, great appointment.
