Mick McCarthy would be class, wouldn't happen in a million years mind.

On paper, to my League 1 uneducated mind at least, it seems a decent squad that shouldn't be troubling the relegation spots. Surely will be an attractive proposition for a few managers? Or are there deeper problems?

Much deeper issues that aren't currently widely reported.

Edin Rahic, chairmen 'I know football' - all because he had a scouting job at Stuttgart some years ago. He has alienated the club and the fans. We have lost all the good people behind the club that have been there for years down to his aggressive micro managing. Some believe he has a say in pretty much all aspects of the football, hence why our under 18 manager was appointed this season as a puppet to him.

This summer we had six weeks of looking for a manager/head coach, reportedly got knocked back by around 10 candidates and ended up giving the job to the U18’s coach who’s biggest achievement was a naff record at youth level, something like finishing 10th out of 13.
Since the new chairman took over three seasons ago, of the three managers prior to this summer, Phil Parkinson got out straight away, McCall was set to leave after a year and Simon Grayson left after about four months, then everyman and his dog turned us down as I’ve already said. The chairman is the common denominator and his popularity amongst most fans is rock bottom (a long list of reasons why), all the progress we have made in recent years has been dismantled and fans relationship with the club are the lowest I’ve ever known.
The starting 11 this year isn’t bad at all, there’s no depth but that, big crowds and ‘potential’ should have us as a half decent side for someone reputable to take over and push us on but how much control a manager of decent standing would have is a worry given interference from above.

In terms of a replacement (announced tomorrow), Ben Garner, ex WBA/Palace coach has been mentioned, he was followed on Twitter by one of our main coaches this afternoon, would fit the bill of what the chairman wants and his CV although lacking any managerial experience, is mostly working with Premier League sides.

Bradford fans were giving it fairly large in preseason
On paper we made some decent signings, seeing them on the pitch however has soon tempered any pre season ambition. Even your mob might beat us, we've had 13 shots on target so far this season, and no striker has scored from open play.

No striker scored from open play? What sort of caveat is that! None of our strikers have scored full stop. And we haven't sacked our manager. 24th is ours and I' quite sure we won't let you lot steal it from us.

Fairly happy with Hopkin, consecutive promotions with Livingston (promotion to the SPL with second lowest wage budget in the league) is impressive and he can’t be any worse than what we had.

You aren't guaranteed it just yet, without Bury in the way it's up for grabs.

I don't know a lot about Hopkin, but just by looking at him he looks like my type of guy. Good for a pint.

I'd like to think we'll give him time, having backed him with £600K in transfer fees outlay (admittedly spread across several questionable looking signings) - even our most deluded fans surely don't see last season as anything other than a once-in-a-lifetime freak season, and I'd like to think most would be happy with mid-table safety this time around. Our chairman has never been particularly trigger happy, but I guess if we're still in the bottom 4 after another 5-10 games then anything is possible.....
I must be deluded then. Having followed Shrewsbury in the late 70’s and 80’s I certainly do not regard last season a once in a lifetime freak season because us older fans have been there before. Having only just missed out it was obvious our club would get raped by bigger clubs but I believe our day will come again after we steady the ship this season.

Also Askey is under presure. Word has it that Chairman Roland Wycherley Summoned Askey to the board room right after game on Saturday which is unusual for him. Riot act read.

Lee Clark ?

I did originally ask what has gone wrong but those questions have been answered. Looks like you are getting a half decent appointment out of this at least, and an ex player.

Lee Bowyer finally been made permanent manager.

Been caretaker in charge since March. Ridiculous, must be a record amount of time to have a caretaker manager?

Askey is way out of his depth. His signings show that. He's used to picking up the arse end of a transfer window, give him money and he has no clue.

He did very well here but he had no pressure as we were always up against it.

He's gone to you and trying to have the exact same small time approach, but you aren't a shitty conference club who patches up a squad every year!

Rumours Askey is out tomorrow. His odds for the Macc job have plummeted today.

Like I say, hearsay and would be strange after probably the best performance and certainly best home performance of the season.

Hurst has been given the boot by Ipswich so why not Askey back to Macc, Hurst back to Shrewsbury and everyone just pretends the last couple of months never happened?

Has Neil Cox gone too ?

He wasn't very complementary about your players at a Watford event .

Said they basically need to be told what to do all the time !
