Sounds more like he was up for it and we turned him down to be honest. Better have something good lined up!

Hirst mustn’t have wanted to have tarnished his CV.

Return of Nolan....

Please no. Not that I think he’s bad manager, not because he was sacked a little too early but would be a joke if he was reappointed after what’s been said by both parties.

Can we not also discuss Sol Campbell, Martin Allen and Carlton Palmer a little more folks? :brill: Not enough time spent discussing these as if they were appointed :fl:

Of course not, he's the busiest man in the world.

Thought so haha

He is indeed trying to get a shortlist of 3 down to 1 and he’s the owner of another football club and he runs a couple of local businesses that are thankfully very successful. But I’m sure if you ask nicely

Its not the team ,its big al

Why are you obsessed with him? Have you even met him?

Tbh it seems to be all things Notts on here, multiple match day threads, certain players, a past manager, the current chairman, the current managerial search.

But it’s just Big Al? Haha ok then

All fair enough and I agree with it all, but one thing...didn't you spend 4 or 5 years telling us Hurst would never get us promoted and that he was too conservative to ever really do anything? When did your opinion of him change?
I said he wouldn't get you promoted automatically. Fair play to him for getting you up via the play-offs, but let's be honest there was a fair bit of good fortune involved that season (as there is for any side that does well in a knockout format such as the play-offs, I may add, so you can't hold that against him). And my opinion hasn't changed, I've always thought he was a good manager who was destined to go higher up. He just has limitations which meant I wasn't sure if he was the right man for you at the time, but I was obviously wrong (fine margins and all that, remember that 'Hurst Out' banner on the flyover before the second leg at Braintree?). But I'm with you, he's proven himself to be a very good manager who shouldn't really have to drop down to L2 to find another job, irrespective of how poorly he did at Ipswich.

Again, can't disagree with pretty much any of that. You did once say this though...
Seriously Grimsby, even if you come back to win 5-1 today, Hurst is not the man to get you promoted.
...admittedly it does appear that you did mention the title more than promotion generally, so I guess I have just remembered it incorrectly.

Looking more likely to be Ardley now. I wanted Hurst but it’s hard to argue with a man who got a club promoted out of this division on a tiny budget and has kept them there for over two seasons, albeit not doing so well this year so far. An improvement on Kewell for sure (watch us reappoint Nolan now!)

Looks like we’ve chosen Ardley over Hurst, not that would’ve been my approach but whatever.

Ardley would make me less confident than Hurst if I was a County fan, but can still go either way obviously.

Yeah only obsessed in our Chairman:ffs:

Do any of the other Stags fans know this old codger personally? Can someone please have a word. It’s ever single thread, I can’t cope with his god awful spelling let alone the obsessed tripe he comes out with.

Prime example of little brother syndrome.
