For the love of God can we just lock this thread until we appoint someone?

All this back and forth trading trolly insults surely is a waste of time?

I picked a year out, FYI I’ve not a clue what happened to any team that year, why would I, who would care.

Adam doesn’t answer direct questions, Enzo it’s kinda his thing. Which looking at this thread is again his best course ignore action.

Back on topic, Hardy has used direct email to fans ((Yayyyyy!!!!) and not twitter to tell us its second round of interviews for the chosen 3. Totally agree it’s all bollocks , guesswork and taking the piss until someone is presented in front of the press and has signed on the dotted line.

Exciting times, during desperate times.

This is wank shithousery from all concerned quite frankly, bring back the old TFF non-league section, where proper shithousery was dished out.

Every time a thread goes completely to shit I’ve noticed that there is always one common denominator:

I’m my opinion Notts should be looking for a young hungry up and coming manager, but to play a bit safe ideally he’d also be an ex County player so the fans would all be right behind him.

I think I know just the guy:

That would be amazing and his first game would be the side he played (I use that term very loosely) against away from home and Lost.

I just think if Mansfield appointed him I would be very 'meh' and that's just taking in to account his style of management. I am not saying he's a bad manager, far from it and I think for County he is probably the best option considering the situation they are in.

I'll be honest I am just not convinced but I am not particularly sure why, I suppose the season Shrewsbury finished 3rd felt like a bit of a fluke to me.

I reckon most on here would rate him over Flitcroft, and I know it's easy to stick up for him while we are doing well but he's got Mansfield playing the best football I have witnessed since our free-flowing attacking team led by Curle years ago, but we can actually defend now so it's better. Take in to account the fact he's already achieved promotion in this division and likely will see us in the top 7 this season I find the fact he's rated less than Hurst a bit bizarre. Apperantly he got a 50% win ratio at Swindon (according to Wiki) and they hate him! I do understand quite a lot of the grumbles they had with him though.

Paul Cox got double promotion with Eastwood, came to Mansfield, finished 3rd, then 1st in the Conference and left with our second highest win ratio in the club history and I never rated him either  He has since been proven to be rammel to be fair.
He's lulling you into a false sense of security, just when you think you have it sussed he will change the whole bloody team round. Goalkeepers will only last a game, defenders will have to play on the wings and the poor strikers will be stood around scratching their heads wondering WTF he's playing at.
Notts will always attract managers above the likes of Mansfield and Bury.

I like Hurst, I think he's a good manager and any fan of a L2 side, especially one struggling down at the bottom like County, should be happy were he to be appointed their manager. I wouldn't be too disappointed were he to take over at Lincoln should the Cowleys leave. I just think he's better suited to a side with no real expectations, i.e. Shrewsbury, and not a side who want automatic promotion as you lot did (and rightly so) back in the Conference. He's simply not adventurous enough to win a title, although that's clearly not as big a problem in L2 as it is in the Conference for obvious reasons.

I don't get why he hits out at the fans so much though. Literally seconds after Grimsby had won the play-off final his first thought was to cup his ears to your end. Strange. That was the moment to enjoy the moment and be a united club. And then he questioned why Shrewsbury were still only getting 4k at home at the back end of last season when they were a few weeks away from the play-offs. There's one thing thinking it, but saying it out loud is another matter entirely. Any manager who is at odds with his own fanbase is always going to be facing an uphill battle.
I'd agree with the above.

Seems to get the best out of the players, gets a team playing better than the sum of it's parts, has organised sides etc but as you say, he's never come across as someone who'll give a game a good go and would rather avoid losing than going for a win.

He's obviously not a people person, either. Just one of those people that you could never really fully take to.

Not true really is it? Steve Evans is a better manager than anyone they have had for a while.

and if anybody disagrees GIVE ME A BETTER WIN AND PROMOTION RATIO.

Ardley or Hurst would be a good appointment IMO. Whoever it is I hope they wait till after the 8th to start winning games!

Don't worry Richard, we could appoint Guardiola and he could come with half his squad and we still wouldn't win that one.

I hope we at least have Karl Henry in midfield by then though, finally some b*llocks and him versus Bish (who will probably get an excellent reception from the away end btw) would be a good match-up.

It gets worse. The (very believable) rumour is that the only reason Way has been given a new contract is our main sponsor and financial backer told the board they would pull out if they didn't. Also they are going to pay for Steven Caulker to return to the club - he's been seen in Yeovil today.

To be fair, that would be a fucking unreal signing.

I get that he's not exactly well-liked by the Yeovil fans, but one can't be too critical of the job he's done there. When Yeovil were relegated from League One it honestly looked as though they were only going in one direction, and that was back to non-league. He's managed to bring the club some stability and despite a recent poor run you did make a good start to the season that showed promise.

Phil Brown has now come from nowhere to be lukewarm favourite for the Notts job.

Stop laughing Swindon fans.

This is the best chance of saving us from relegation.

Despite his previous successes, Brown seems to have lost his way and the one thing he has proven at Preston, Southend and Swindon is that he can't come in and firefight. Southend he demonstrated long term success, but their fans advised that the first few months under Brown just produced nothing, of which he replicated with us when coming in last season to try and get us over the line.

All fair enough and I agree with it all, but one thing...didn't you spend 4 or 5 years telling us Hurst would never get us promoted and that he was too conservative to ever really do anything? When did your opinion of him change?

I wouldn’t read too much into the Brown link, five or six people have been favourite now.

He hasn't really has he? he said he's not adventurous enough to win the title, which is what you need to do in the conference unless you use the lottery system that is the play-offs.

You don't need to win a title in lge 1 or 2 to get promoted.

I was of the opinion that GG didn't think he was a decent manager, maybe I'm just not remembering clearly. He definitely did used to say that we wouldn't get promoted under him.

Local rag says Hurst not coming. Translated it means Hurst turned us down, wise man.
Relegation looking ever more likely as we hurtle to plan Z and some puppet manager.

Can you imagine what sort of person takes the job after meeting Hardy though? Must be a screw missing.
