Alexander always struck me as a dinosaur, cut from the same cloth as the likes of Gary Bowyer and Derek Adams.

He’s ticked off three of the main ones in his bid to manage every plastic hobby club.

Which is precisely the point! The last 2 times we’ve been in league 2 we got experience in and we ended up just missing out on promotion and losing in the play offs in 2006/07, and going straight back up in 2018/19. Experimenting on newbies is fine when we’re in league 1 or the club is in a semi decent state, but it’s a big job on hand and we wanted someone in the ilk of Martin Allen or Paul Tisdale that knew the league and could sort things out quickly.

I’ve still never forgiven Graham Alexander for missing an injury time penalty for Preston v Crewe that would’ve won me around 2 grand off a £10 bet.

Just went back to page one of the thread. Not one manager is still at the same club. Only one (Flynn) is still in the same league and I think only one is managing at a higher level (Cowley)

Steady job is this managing lark.

AFAIK Cowley is out of work after Pompey gave him the shove.

I don't think I've have foreseen that the one on that list I recognize as currently managing at a higher level is Dino Maamria: has to be said he did a sterling job removing Burton Albion from the drop zone of League One last year, and without resorting much to the blatant shithousery associated with some of his former clubs.*

*well obviously I mean Stevenage, maybe just them

Duncan Ferguson set to leave FGR apparently, which seems weird timing.

I was staggered Ferguson went there in the first place. He strikes me as someone who likes his meat pies, none of that vegan garbage they serve up there

JFC maybe there aren't two clubs in a bigger shambles than us off the pitch in this league

Absolute fucking joke. He’s on a 5 year contract, the squad is a mess and the 3 players we have signed came because he’s a big name and sold the club and his vision/style of play to them. Yes his record isn’t great at all but he was given a shocking hand with the ‘rebuild’ that absolute fraud of a head of recruitment we brought in and then sacked 3 months later carried out last January.

What is the point in starting pre-season with him, having by all accounts worked for months planning out recruitment etc only to sack him now. Surely if you are going to do it sack him in early May.

That reads as if he has been sacked, surely they would be quite the pay out for a 5 year contract.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Artell get the FGR job. He came close to getting the Swindon job when they chose Jody Morris over him, so he'd absolutely apply for the FGR job.
