Rumours he's stuck a Vegan Sausage Roll up that Dale Vince's arse.
He would have had to join a queue.

I am really starting to worry about our club, if we thought that last summer was a poor way to prepare for a season it looks like we have gone a stage further this time round.

First pre-season friendly is tomorrow evening...allegedly!

That is absolutly mental. I presume Vince is going to pay up his contract out of his own pocket or that's going to be a big hole in FGR's finances.
I reckon he must have been on a decent wage, being a big name and all that...with a five year contract to pay off...guess that is our transfer budget blown for next season.

I can't imagine what your fans feelings are since you won the 4th Division title. Going backwards is one thing -- But you guys are in full on reverse mode. Is it all Vinces fault ?

Remember when Vince used to keep employing no hopers like Hockaday and Pennock when FGR were in the Conference letting them waste millions on shite players before giving someone else a go. Took them far longer to get promotion than it should have done because of that.

Dale certainly makes some bizarre decisions...I still don't really count him as a football person even though he has been at the club for about a decade...he wants to do things "another way" but at times I just wish he would do things the football way.

In the past he showed loyalty to managers, with Hockaday, Pennock and Cooper probably staying longer than they would have done at other clubs, we built slowly but surely...but the last couple of seasons has been more like a fireworks display, on and off the pitch, but now it looks like fizzling out.

This one genuinely does have Ian Holloway written all over it.

No, only vegan just stop oil supporters can apply.

Nothing against the fans there and Crawley, but really hope they are relegated to non league oblivion along with Crypto Town

One of my mates saying they’ve appointed a woman as manager is ferguson has gone?

If so, bravo. why not (they might be on the windup)

Rumour on the club forum, apparently seen on Twitter, that Hannah Dingley who is the Academy Manager has been placed in temporary charge...there is a friendly tomorrow evening so someone needs to pick and run the team, don't think the players can do it themselves.

Edit: Definitely not a wind up, confirmed by the club, good luck to her!

Hannah Dingley makes good sense as acting manager, by far the most qualified person present in TNL at the moment to take over on the eve of our first pre-season friendly, she's been head of our academy the past four years or so.

Dale Vince paid money for Ian Burchnall. I don’t think we can view any decision he makes through a normal lens for that reason alone.

A caretaker manager appointed, in pre-season. Tremendous.

It’s going to be made out to be a big step for women in football etc and Hannah does deserve credit for the work she’s done, but in reality it’s a temporary appointment to get publicity more then anything. She isn’t getting the job full time. We’re a fucking circus.

I get all that and if I was you I’d be cynical too but it is a milestone moment regardless of the circumstances. I’m pleased they didn’t bypass her and “get a man in” just to avoid the attention it brings. Good luck to her, I hope it goes well for her whatever the nature/duration of the tenure.

So what’s the deal with ferguson then? given a decent contract and fucked off now?

Surely if you were going to change manager it would’ve been done at the end of last season

As for a woman in charge there’s enough shit male managers about so why not. 10/15 years ago you’d have had folk moaning about female refs - if whoever it is does the job right why would anyone care?

That hippy c*** is the biggest attention seeker in the football league

I don't think she was given the job to get the club publicity (regardless of how questionably DV can act....) - I really think she was the best person for the job available in the club. Like Jimmy Ball was when Cooper went.

As for why Dunc went....suggestions of some kind of dispute over, in effect, the role of head coach. Must have been sudden given there was talk of him getting in the current manager of Forfar Athetic as his assistant just a few days ago. Whether that's the full story or not is another matter.

I'm all for women being given a chance but hypocritically I'm glad it isn't us to be the first testing ground. (unless it was Sarina Weigman.

It’s going to be a media circus about an interim appointment. Fantastic for publicity maybe but it masks the fact that this is an absolute shit show, we’re supposed to be trying to rebuild after an awful season with staff from all parts of the club constantly leaving etc and instead all the attention will be on the fact a female coach is in temporary charge. We needed to be preparing for the season and sorting the squad out, not trying to grab headlines.

Giving Hannah the reigns is fine, I’ve met her a few times and she seems decent and has done a good job in the academy, but Vince being on Sky Sports News and no doubt everywhere else milking this and banging his own drum for all it’s worth for (sort of) giving a woman a chance when it’s only come about due to him making one shit decision after another for the last year or so seems off. Either give her the job permanently or shut up and get on with finding a manager.

He's a narcissist. We had one in Alan Hardy and he sent us down. Admittedly Vince has b(r)ought success to you but it's a poor way to go about pre-season.

Hannah Dingley has a double hurdle. FGR are in freefall and her appointment is only interim.
I believe FGR have a history of appointing their youth coaches and then soon-after letting them return to anonymity.
If she gets the job permanently what will Dale Vince consider a success?
Avoiding relegation I guess.

Agree with others about the female appointment, both in terms of probably being the best person for the temporary job at the minute but also being a publicity stunt. Vince has been banging on about it for years and he'd have been desperate to engineer it somehow because he loves being the first in this, the first in that and the media attention it brings. Even as recently as two or so years ago he was talking about it.

For that reason alone, the more he does, the more things feel like token gestures for publicity and not necessarily in the best interests of FGR. Initially, it might have been he was investing in FGR for the football but you wonder whether as the years have gone on, and the realisation of how much he'd have to put in to make any real difference in the EFL, it's turned to be more about publicity for green energy etc etc.

What are the reasons behind the Ferguson sacking? Seems a bit bizarre for the close season?

Few reckon it’s a bit of a publicity stunt by a club that like to do them and in the end they will appoint a male manager for the season .

But she has worked at FGR and been a coach for a while so no doubt will be qualified.

I thought the appointment of DF was a huge publicity stunt. At least Hannah knows a lot about the club and possibly lower league football in general. DF was a total disaster and I'm not sure if he will ever get another managerial job in football.

It's already a publicity stunt. He was on Radio 2 news this morning talking about it!

Said she was best person for the job had over 60 applicants and after sifting she came out on top.

Wasn't he only sacked yesterday and she appointed almost immediately, how has he had 60 applicants and gone through them all and decided she was the best already?
