Why who is it? Have you heard something?

No but Tom said they aren’t going for a complete novice hence my expectation that it will be someone we’ve heard of.

think Abbot is happy where he is, he likes being here and has a job that plays to his strengths, according to our caretaker managers he's been on hand to help them out but the owners have made it clear what his role is.
It will not be Andy Mangan. Off to Real Madrid apparently.

Rob Elliot is now the 1/2 favourite for the Carlisle job.

His odds have drastically shortened tonight.

Flickers gave up management to work in his business, maybe similar to us a DOF role? Did well initially but once promoted he just didnt work out.

If he ran his own business it’d been bankrupt on a fortnight.

We spent a lot of money but on infrastructure yet never seemed to get a striker over the line! Our strikers since he has left (I.e. Stockley, Tolaj and Paton) have nearly scored more than our strikers did all last season combined!

Looking more and more likely it's going to be Rob Elliot.

He's doing a terrific job at Gateshead and I'm sure will get us playing some great attacking football once he gets it up and running.

You have to feel for Gateshead, they can't seem to have anything nice.

The Angel of the north and some bridges, what has Chesterfield got outside a poorly constructed spire and a shambles? Not saying Burslem is a world heritage site by the way much as I love it.

Yeah 1/4 now.

It could simply be that someone has lumped a big wedge on and the odds have fallen, but usually with odds like that there’s something in it.

I think he’d do well. Maybe not straight away because the losing culture needs shifted first, but as I keep saying we have some good players so he should be able to implement his style on them.

I'm not even sure it has to be a large amount of money. I only bet very small amounts of money. I put £2.33 on Rob Elliot, (cautious and hate odd numbers in my account when i win) and the odds went down straight away. I put £5 on a bet the other day and the odds went down immediately. of course odds move all the time and it could be that some high roller was placing bets at the same time or the algorhythm (sic) automatically checks when people bet if their odds are better than everyone else's, but with next manager markets, where people might have inside info, and be betting low amounts to keep under the radar, the betting companies can get very jittery very quickly.
With Elliot, he didn't go to the Gatehead match at the weekend, because he was ill, but of course that feeds the monster with Alan Nixon jumping on board in a clock right twice a day manner.
Of course i hope it is him, and have always thought it would be, thus my bet when he was 5/1 right at the start.

Because i have never, ever got a manager appointment right. Ever. I just want to win one just one time, and then i will never toss my money, even annoying £2.33s, away again.

I think he's the best choice and a good long term choice too to get us playing like they do and Gateshead are a really good neat attacking team.

To address the losing culture issue we could go for a quicker fix like Pete Wild but I'd only want him on a short contract because he always ends up leaving clubs anyway for off field matters and I don't see him as one to build us for the future.

Anyway according to someone on Facebook apparently in the know, Elliot is one of the final candidates, but it’s not fully decided. The sporting director will be appointed first and then the head coach will get appointed thereafter from a few candidates of which Elliot is one.

I hope not because he'd be a poor underwhelming appointment, sure there could be worse and yes he did do well with Wigan for one season but he's been sacked in his last two jobs after doing terrible and he did rubbish way back when he was at Accrington.

He’s likely on the final short list that I mentioned above. Someone in the know has probably put a bet on him which has made his odds shift.

I’d rather have him than your mate Wild.

Depends what you’re after IMO. Richardson or Wild are much more likely to have you doing something this season, Elliot might be a better bet longer term.

Richardson doesn't strike me as the sort of profile of manager the Carlisle owners sound like they want?

can now re-edit my original comment back in.

The bookies have closed the book on next Carlisle manager, and they usually do that once a decision's been made and is going to be announced in the next couple of days.

In Carlisles shoes I'd take Wild. He'll at least guarantee you'll be in L2 next season. I don't think you'll go down anyway but ruts are hard to get out of and you're in one so safety first, get in a man who'll always grind out enough results to stay up.

He was certainly dealt a bad hand by Matt Taylor TBF, but the way he set the team up was dreadful.

He produced some of the most boring displays in all my time watching the Millers certainly on par with the George Kerr and Danny Bergara's teams.

I know everyone hates Steve Evans but I'd have carried him here to get rid of Richardson. If he had stayed I would not have renewed my season ticket, that's how boring it was.
It wasn't the losing I expect that in the Championship, it was the painful way he went about it.

From what I saw of Carlisle at Valley Parade last week, I would say that despite being beaten by us, there is no way will they be anywhere near relegation this season. They could do with Wyke starting to score goals for them though.

Hes just not the right fit. I’m not totally sold on Richardson, more so when you read the Rotherham reviews, but did win the League 1 title didn’t he?

Anyway betting has been suspended with Richardson as odds on favourite, so looks like it’s him.

I can still see live odds - Gary Brabin has come out of nowhere to be 1/3.

Which bookie you looking?

I’ve been looking at bet victor as it was the only one I could see offering odds. They’ve suspended.

You are Tom Stoltman and I'll claim my £5 :D
