We're apparently trying to hijack Ayr Utd's move for Scott Brown. Worrying if true that we only approached him yesterday as that would potentially mean the likes of Cotterill, Flynn and Bowyer didn't fancy it after their interviews on Friday/Saturday. Plus he didn't exactly tear up any trees at Fleetwood. Some less well sourced rumours suggest we also interviewed Tisdale and Barton, although I'd be amazed if we actually talked to the latter who's an absolute c*** and a complete liability.

We need proper experience.

Barton maybe is a S*** -- But he would install some better practises into your squad if you say they are turning up late for training amongst other things. But being realistic I cannot see him being very interested. You certainly don't need Tisdale. Although I don't like him and his type of football I can see Cotterill as the only man who possibly has a chance of getting you to stay in the FL.

Pleased for him. Great fit for Shrewsbury and a wry earcupping to his doubters and those that were saying he'd be 'Gateshead or somewhere NL bound'. Fully deserves another decent job. Grimsby Town legend.

Who specifically are you worried about? Conteh is already on his way, the only other ones that would be big losses for me are Rose and maybe Glennon at a push.
Rose, Maher and even the likes of Clifton and Rodgers despite their form - I still them as having good potential. Doubt it would happen considering the timescales but there’s always the chance in the summer. But I wish him good luck regardless.

Maher is a good defender yeah, hopefully he can recover his form from last year. Part of me is just done with watching him and Rodgers though so I wouldn't be too bothered if they were replaced. I agree with you though, both are decent players not playing well and I could see them coming good. Tharme to come in and give Rodgers a rest ASAP for me.

Clifton, again, I wouldn't lose too much sleep if we lost him. Great servant, fantastic engine, loves the club, can play pretty much anywhere but he's some way off being a top player at this level and isn't going to improve the things we need him to (touch, composure, decision making). As a CM he's thoroughly replaceable.

Appleton is available. Sacked again but I'm sure someone down here will hire him soon enough.

Remember when Chesterfield gave him the password to their computer and said he could write all the news articles for their official site. Peak Mad Dog.
Almost as good as his jumpers.

Can the NL'ers at the time remember when Eastleigh spent a fortune to get him out of Barnet and forgot to put a termination clause in his deal and had to pay him up in full when they sacked him a short while later?

I think he'll go back into academy coaching, I genuinely don't think there's anyone who'd appoint him now (certainly not at L1 level). Having three jobs in a fairly short space of time has probably highlighted a few common themes with him.

That's not to say he isn't a good coach but I think he's stuck between enjoying the matchdays of senior football but not everything that comes with being a manager/head coach and the coaching of young players in academies but it not really meaning anything come a matchday (although to contradict myself slightly, I think he sees success as player development rather than results, which is why he doesn't change anything and his sides have the same downfalls).

Thank fuck we're sorted.

That was the season after we went up I think, but I remember reading about it.

Wasn't there also a manager at some point who left because they downgraded his lease car from a mid range Mondeo or something to something really crap.

Haha yes there was, I think it might have been an NLS or NLN manager who's side had been promoted?

Shocked FGR have managed to get Cotterill. He can do better than a job at the bottom of the football league with one of the smallest clubs in the 92 (no disrespect FGR fans).

Reckon he’ll keep you up though. Won’t be pretty football and you’ll turn into the biggest shithouses going over night but he’ll get you results.

I think the expression is 'beggars can't be choosers'.
FGR are desperate for a proven successful manager, which Cotterill is BUT he is also Gloucestershire born.

Also, didn’t Eastleigh sign N’Gala from Barnet for a record fee, then when he rocked up as manager at Eastleigh a few weeks later he immediately released him?! Haha.

Cotterill to FGR is horrible news for the other teams down there. Reckon Donny could be sleepwalking into some genuine danger.

Bonz N'Gala, what a story.

Yeah, you're right. Allen had Eastleigh's pants down by selling him as Barnet's manager, then became Eastleigh's manager about a week later and got rid of him within two months

I’m old enough to remember Michael Appleton playing for us on loan from Man Utd, and scoring a cracker in our 1-1 draw…….
against Man City.

Nice.

Sleepwalking? We’ve been comatose for the last 3 years, that would be a step up
