Ian Evatt must be a candidate for this job?

You would think it’s nailed on especially if we keep with our ‘philosophy’ of how we play (aka possession football, whether we should or not is a whole other debate).

Since Karl Robinson was sacked in October 2016, we have had Robbie Neilson, Dan Micciche, Paul Tisdale, Russell Martin, Liam Manning, Mark Jackson, Graham Alexander, Mike Williamson and Scott Lindsey, plus caretakers Richie Barker, Keith Millen, Bradley Johnson and Dean Lewington (x3 and presumably now x4).

9 full time managers and 4 caretakers in just over 8 years…3 managers in one season will be a new one though I think.

Plenty of good candidates, but whilst this isn't meant as a slight to dedicated MK fans, no self respecting manager should touch this job with a barge pole. Yeah, they'll get money to sign the players they want, but there is clearly no overall strategy, the leadership at the top is broken and no patience whenever a bad run hits. All that on top of playing in a 2/3rds empty stadium on a good day.

Anyone coming in, I'd be questioning their motives. You can't hope for long term success when you sign mercenaries on and off the pitch.

I think more of our fans wanted Liam Sweeting sacked than Lindsey to be honest so inclined to agree. Clear this goes beyond the manager given our ex managers like Manning, Alexander and even Jackson have gone on to have decent stints elsewhere. Can’t blame the new owners given they have not even had 1 full season at it yet and they have given more than enough resources for us to have a successful season, plus shown patience given our absolutely abysmal form in the last 3 months, but the playing side from top to bottom have been a complete let down.

MK job really is a poisoned chalice because of mercenaries. Can't see them paying for a manager this time so Evatt will probably rock up there and demand his own players. Anyone who appoints him is taking a risk though...

Looking at Lindsey's record you can't be surprised he has gone and, as a Crawley fan, it's hard to feel sorry for him given the state he allowed our team to get into in the summer.

If he had stayed and got relegated with us he would still have a chance of a league 1 job next season. Now, league 2 will be the best he can hope for....watch a championship side come in for him now.

MK seem desperate to make themselves into the L2 version of Stoke the way they go through managers. Just don’t think you can run a successful club doing that. More you see they have wealthy owners but it’s a case of all the gear and no idea.

As I said on the relegation thread, if you're happy to throw money at fourth tier footballers who have no repercussions if they fail and the worst they get is a life changing payoff after another managerial change, then it simply won't end well.

They'll see themselves as above a certain calibre of player but then when going for their top targets they'll be competing with League One clubs with higher status and higher budgets too and a more serious opportunity of making it to the Championship than a L2 club like MK.

When you don't get your top targets but still look above young and hungry players, you end up paying top whack to fourth tier mercenaries who will only drag your club down.

No manager worth their salt should go for this job. It's a poisoned chalice and could easily become groundhog day just like Gillingham where big money blown on crap and manager after manager sacked. Funnily enough, Robins has said at Stoke he wants a big rebuild in the Summer. Haven't Stoke been doing that for the last 7 years?

Agree with most of that, though do not know about higher budgets. Our budget probably puts us towards competing in the Championship let alone L2, if the riches are to be believed.

As for Lindsey, 9 points from 48 hardly inspired confidence.

Franchise are trying to emulate us with manager turnover and making a graveyard for them Did us a lot of good. Ironic that the manager who all of them wanted rid of actually has us laying some decent stuff.

But not surprised. Knows the club and a fair few of the players.
If he gets it he'll need to do well or it will likely be his last chance. Failed at Swansea and Swindon.
Personally I wouldn't want him back now, think we've moved on even if Maynard ultimately doesn't quite succeed.

I think he might have enough credit in the bank still to for a decent League One job. But it’s a place he knows and there is potential there if you get it right, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

The one thing I do miss with LW is his charisma and ability to get everyone going. Maynard is clearly a good coach and we’re a well organised football team, but some managers just have that extra bit of something to them that make you believe they can achieve something.

Williams is nailed on surely. I disagree that it's a bad job, MK are loaded and have good players already there, just needs a shake up.

I'm surprised it didn't work for Lindsey, he was great for Crawley but maybe works better with lower expectations.

He’s a far bigger problem than the managers they’ve had. They’ve burnt through at least two clearly good League Two managers (and I think Williamson might still turn out to be good in the right place) since coming down. That squad is a total mess.

We all agree with this. Liam Sweeting has overseen the last few years of general decline to where we now find ourselves in our worst ever position. He needs to be held accountable too. Our forum is full of posts about getting rid of him, and I would say fans probably feel stronger about this than they did about getting rid of Lindsey. Either we are incredibly unlucky or it can’t be the clearly decent managers consistently getting it wrong.

Wasn't long ago you were gloating and winding us up about using the free money you got for Williamson to buy Lindsey with.

Maybe it's just that players and managers who go to MK are just not inspired enough to do well for a club who don't have proper fans and any atmosphere.

It wouldn't be a massive surprise. Just depends on how big a loss Millwall are prepared to take and what other offers he has.

Maybe not, but it could make a big difference next season. Especially gives him time to root out which players are worth keeping.
