A lot of our fans (me included) still annoyed that we didn't get Nathan Jones in as manager a few years back when he was our assistant manager. We gave Skiverton the job instead and look how that ended up.

Lee Clark odds on for Carlisle? How does he keep getting jobs. Horrendous.

Would the Luton job even tempt Cowley if they were interested? I doubt it myself.

Just had a look at the Luton forum to see if they fancy Cowley. Generally “no” cos of hoofball. Not “expansive“ enough. Too “dirty”.

Just to remind you, this is fuckin* Luton not Barcelona.

To be fair to Luton fans, Jones got them playing excellent attacking football.

From what I've seen of Lincoln this season I don't blame them for not wanting Cowley.

Closer to home though for Cowley isn't it? If Luton are actually interested I've certainly seen less realistic managerial suggestions over the years...

Someone told me that Luton want Tisdale, but considering he's on a three year rolling contract and Luton refuse to pay us any money whatsoever, I laughed that off.

Not anymore, Lincoln based now, moved up in the summer.

Would be a great move for the Cowleys. Luton are a club heading in the right direction, potentially into a new stadium, with an excellent squad, strong fanbase and decent finances. They're essentially where they want to be with Lincoln but in a few seasons time.

Luton seem pleased for Jones, good luck to him.
Big ask at Stoke for him.
Whoever does takeover at Luton best not fuck it up as if they may not last too long.
Hurst might be a good fit for them, Darren Ferguson was favourite the last I saw, another one who keeps getting jobs.

The Spanish assistant there might see it as his chance to move to a #1 role. He applied for our job in the summer, could be a sensible move by Luton to recruit from within. Unless he's gone to Stoke too?

Really? I know Notts haven’t got the same reputation for glorious, total football as Luton, but I’d give my right bollock to go back to last season when we lumped it, but did actually win some games.

Luton do play good football, but if any lower league fan who can look at Cowley’s record and say “nah, don’t fancy him” needs a straitjacket.

To copy and paste what I put on the L1 thread on the Cowley subject:

Not sure they would entertain it, they are onto bigger and better things from Lincoln themselves it seems as have done similar at Lincoln to what NJ has done here!

Personally dont really like the style of football and we certainly do not have the players for it, but it gets results so I wouldnt be necessarily averse to it. They seem willing to embrace new ideas so with this set of players they might amend that approach perhaps.

Like I say, highly doubt they would have an interest.

To expand further - the main thing for me is we do not have a group of players who can play the style that Cowley has done at Lincoln (from what I have seen in any case, cant speak for this season). There isnt really a need to rip out the approach Jones put in place but someone to evolve it - so I dont know whether the Cowleys would be the right fit, even if they were interested.

Hurst won’t last two minutes at Luton.

I'm sure if they come in they will bring the giants with them, Eardley, Anderson, Freck, Pett etc

Knew youd have a nibble at that one. It wasnt meant as a dig at Lincoln, you shouldnt be insecure about the success you have had playing it.

It hasnt really got anything to do with physical size, its the tactic of transitioning the ball forward early and often. We do not have the players for that, being full of technical midfield players who want the ball in tight spaces and to progress the ball through the phases in a controlled manner. They have been coached to play a 442 diamond with no wide midfielders, and to control possession for 3 years. Be like Andrew Shinnie playing for Lincoln. Just wouldnt work.

You cant deny the two styles are radically different and we dont need to change it particularly - hence I dont think the fit is right.

Not that it would happen anyway so points a bit moot.

I should have used olive mate;)
Honestly past caring what the oppo think of the Crowley sisters.
Results end of and like you guys we fill the ground every home match so they must be doing something.
We're on telly soon so I'll literally be donning my tin hat that night as I'm sure everyone will have an opinion on our style of play that night, LOL!!!

Aye but the point is Jones did all that at Luton as well but without the shite football to watch. Hench his point on why he wouldn't want Cowley.

So, John Sheridan has spoken about why he quit. He goes on about a few reasons, with his desire to live closer to home being in there as you would expect (he has form for not being happy if it takes him longer than five minutes to get from his front door to his office). He also was concerned about the lack of budget and apparently the contract Chesterfield offered him he couldn't ignore.

Also sounds from what he's said, that he had already been called by the Chesterfield owner last week when he told BBCRC that he was unaware of anything linking him to the Chesterfield job.

Isn't he, well, a bit shit?
Bit of an unknown quantity I think. He hasn't done much but what he has done, keep Coventry up despite a points deduction and having to play at Northampton and keep Fleetwood up, both in League One, isn't exactly shit. At 45, he's still a fairly young manager.

At least BigDaveCUFC will be happy that we've finally got a Scottish manager so we can start hoovering up talent from across the border. I'm expecting us to announce the signing of Callum McGregor any day now.

Pressley could be a decent appointment for a club like us, he sounds competent in his interview and he hasn't done too badly anywhere.

So hope all goes well.

Not sure how he'll do, at first thought it was a bit of a dull appointment but thinking about it, he could be a decent manager just to keep us ticking over providing we get some players in this month.
