Just fell out with the owners I think.

Was never really the same after the lockdown and re start which we didn’t want and Pearson got COVID.

Darren Moore appointed as Sheffield Wednesday manager leaving Doncaster who were chasing promotion.

Must be confident he can keep SW up and win the continued support of the owner .

Good appointment that, you would think.

Done well at Doncaster and was hard done by at West Brom I thought.

Will do well to keep them up but they've got a better squad than the clubs around them.

Very odd, just been sacked from his job in Cyprus that he only had for 8 games. They have also only just signed a few players that seemed to indicate a switch in playing style and then bring in McCarthy who seems to my mind to be more of the same.

Very strange and I think will go a similar way to the Pulis appointment at Wednesday. Don’t understand these big Championship clubs going for these dinosaurs, shows a lack of creative thinking imo.
This dinosaur showing himself to be far from extinct just yet.

Very true I do seem to have got that one wrong so far! They have given him a contract extension already too.

I like McCarthy, thought he was a bit past it at this level but clearly still got the motivation.

Sacking McCarthy was the biggest mistake Ipswich have made in a long time, and one I'm all too happy they made.

Do Hull still have that bat shit crazy owner? Grant McCann has been mentioned a lot but not sure why he'd some.

The Allam's are still there, yep.

I get the impression that Hull should be walking L1 with their squad but aren't. They've had a couple of dodgy runs like the rest of us but are well placed.

Yep, as far as I can see, Hull fans don't rate McCann at all and he's not someone i'd be keen on.

No idea what sort of compo would be involved with Appleton on his new deal but imagine he could be in contention.

Karl Robinson always throws his hat into the ring as well, then there is Lowe at Plymouth.

I've been saying for months that if we sacked Neil, it would be slim pickings in terms of proven managers to replace him.

Whilst not wanting to lose him, i'd certainly be doing my all to get Appleton in charge at PNE.

Cowley's were £1m so I'm guessing Appleton, with 4 years left (longer than the Cowley's had) is probably £2m or so given it's a league higher.

I've never been fully into the Lowe love-in. His teams are suspect defensively and I always wondered whether L1 would be a struggle for him. He's done well to be fair given they're a recently promoted side, and he might improve them next season, but defensively they're a bottom six side. Even attacking wise they're not *that* great, despite his reputation for attacking football.

A lot of club's seem to have opted for the deal until the end of the season - Portsmouth, Northampton, Oldham, Barnet, AFCW, Orient, Barrow, Walsall and Bradford opted for their caretakers in the end.

So have we, won't be making a full time appointment until the summer.

Ainsworth is the current favourite for the PNE job - scanning their forum it seems some are OK with that idea, others not so keen (not wanting a mgr with a reputation for direct football, or one that is unproven at Championship level).

I could definitely see him taking the job, because:

- he may think he’s taken us as far as he ever could given our budget limitations
- history with PNE as a player
- it’s a chance to manage at Championship level which doesn’t come along every day, and he may never get back there with us

I certainly don’t want him to leave, but no-one could begrudge him for taking it if offered.

Not for me.

No track record at this level, never been tested at another club & never had to try and adopt a different style. Feels like a mix of Westley & Ferguson.

Top guy though and obviously would give his all.

Amazing how a medium sized established Championship team can see their fortunes change so rapidly. Periphery of playoffs more often than not, to fears of relegation this season, let alone next. No Manager, worries of appointing well and who will come in or even want it and if its a young or progressive up and comer and they dont work out it it could look very bleak.

What a tough, tough League the Championship is

Same cycle we had ten years ago, clubs like PNE & Luton will always find themselves back in League One eventually, to compete consistently, you pretty much have to get it right every transfer window.

Look at Wednesday, historically big club, big fanbase, wealthy owner and this will be their third stint in League One in the last twenty years, they'll have been down there more than PNE in that period.

The summer can't come quick enough for us, need the new recruitment team to really deliver and hit the ground running.

I think we can beat that cycle. We have an a awesome new ground due in 2024 and an amazing Ownership/Board with a CEO every club would kill for in that hes a fan and a very smart astute leader.

We gotta get thru the next four years but even if theres a set back or two, i think we can be a sustainable Championship club.. ........ With the resources to bounce back when the shit inevitably hits the fan

Good luck to Preston too. Very similar Club in my mind to us. Close to major football hubs with a ton of Premier Clubs vying for fans and attention - and with the youth of today often get it.

Nicky Butt leaves United, would be quite intrigued by that appointment, he's very highly rated but obviously no less of a gamble than Ainsworth. The fact we're looking for a head coach, rather than a traditional manager might mean he's a better fit though.

Probably off to Miami though.

I think we can too but so much of it rests on the stadium and a lot can happen in 4 years! I don’t think what we have is sustainable at the Kenny as much as we love it.

Grant McCann joining at the end of the season looks nailed on.

He's leaving Hull regardless of if they get promoted or not and we won't have to pay compensation.

Because a Championship team employing him worked last time...
