Because a Championship team employing him worked last time...
In fairness to him, he had both his goalscorers sold with no replacements and 4 or 5 of his senior players refused to play. It was a crazy collapse but also pretty understandable.

Think they were about 9th before he lost his players. Wouldn't be buzzing about him but also wouldn't write him off.

Uwe Rosler mentioned in the tabloids, was in the running for the job when Alex Neil got it.

I've always thought he was a decent enough manager bar a blip at Leeds when they were a bit of a car crash of a club. Fleetwood, Wigan & Brentford he did pretty well.

Would be very underwhelmed with McAvoy full time but bar the Brentford disgrace, hes done well.

3 clean sheets, 2 wins, 2 draws & 1 defeat and that's against 3 of the top 4.

Frankie McAvoy has been given the job as 'head coach' full time.
Paul Gallagher & Steve Thompson, first team coaches.

Knows the workings of the club, cheap and produced automatic promotion form in his 8 game trial.

No more of a gamble than the other candidates linked.

Swansea on track to be a future basket case club at this level I think. Fallen out with the owners so he has left from the looks of it.

Sounds like he's applied for loads of jobs this summer and they've told him to do one? No parachute money for them now ..... Shame.

We played the Swans in a psf on Tuesday. On Wednesday our manager, Ryan Lowe, was asked if he was surprised at Cooper leaving and he said that he was. The night before they had had a drink and Cooper said anything we can do to help you, such as a place to train, let us know. The next day he is gone.

Hughton gone.

Alex Neil would do really well there I feel.

Do we have mods on here? can we bring this thread title forward 3 years?

Steve Cooper apparently going in at Forrest. Not sure he will have an immediate impact there. The big thing with him at Swansea was his ability to use his contacts to get high quality loans like Brewster, Guehi, Gallagher etc.

Won’t be able to do that until January at earliest. Could see it not getting immediately better there

Crazy way of doing things. Whose hiring these guys in the first place? Surely ha e to be looking at that first and foremost because they clearly haven’t got a clue what they are looking for.

On the way to the game yesterday 3cr were saying if they got a result at Leeds yesterday it would have been a good start etc. Loses and sacked the following morning!

Twatford bin yet another gaffer…
Looks like Super_horns will he back again next season…
They’ve had more managers than a kwikfit garage
Never went away..

;)

Fans certainly wanted him out for what they see as poor performances this season.

They'll probably want the next out out too in no time. at all!

No its always been "That". The amount of times I heard him being referred to as "that fat centre half" by opposition supporters i just went with that.
Saw on our twitter feed it was his birthday the other day. Whats he do these days? Love him. He was a huge part in turning the tide and the start of the climb. A lot of (well) hidden skills

Yep still playing, lets face it he never relied on his pace :bg: so he could probably play for a while yet at that level!

Yep I gather he wasnt a fan of it - met him in his civvies after a game at Cambridge and he really didn't look a big guy, our shirt was obviously a bit unflattering for him!

Neil Warnock left Boro by “mutual consent” although sure he will have his say!

Not doing a gotcha by bringing this up TFCH, was just reading this page and noticed it. But yeah, seems he really did have a kinda immediate impact after all to be fair to him. Although I don't think it needed any kind of exceptional manager to improve things. Just one to get the team playing to their talent level as opposed to well below what they should have been doing, as they were under Hughton.

My dad and two brothers are Forest fans so I keep up with how they do despite being a Stags fan me sen. With those family connections it's good from my point of view to see the uptick. Not least because my old man isn't moaning about everything Forest like he was just a couple of months ago. :shifty:

Ha no worries. Ive been wrong before and will be many times more so no worries on the gotcha. It couldnt have been much worse there to be fair and he has managed to stop the rot there. Interested to see how he does the rest of the way.

Sheff Utd sack Jokanovic and appoint Paul Heckingbottom on a 3 year deal. He's taken Blackpool's assistant, Stuart McCall as well.
